And you created yet another beautiful piece. I love the grain in that piece. 🥰 I'm happy to say my project for today is turning a handle on a new piece of steel from Carter for a 3/4-inch bowl beater to absorb these tough turnings. Interesting result Gary, I would have turned this without cutting it round and filling the holes splits etc. With what you had to work with though a good result in the end. Yes I’d love to see other half but turned in its natural shape.
Very very nice, I love turning these unusual pieces. When I started turning I bought two half inch gouges from D-way. One ground at 40 deg and the second at 70 degrees aka Stuart batty. They were, and still are great. About 4 years ago I bought two more but in 5/8 inch steel. I love these even more, and they have become my go to gouges. I'm just wondering why you turned the bottom with a 5/8 gouge and then switched to a 1/2 inch for the inside?
@@crackerjack3359 thank you. Depends a lot on the wood. If it has issues I like the control of the half inch. Most bowls I rough out with 5/8 and I'm finish with 1/2. I have never used D-way. Look like decent tools.

It might be a good idea to mention that whenever you turn in reverse that the chuck is locked onto the spindle. Some beginners might make a mistake.
I have mentioned that a number of times when turning in reverse.
You never know what is inside until you open it. You were blessed with a great gift. Of course you had to open it properly 🙄
Thank you very much Rick. i look at turning these pieces like opening Christmas presents when we were kids.
Thanks for watching,
Gary

I thought it was Conan the barbarian turning wood for an instant when I saw that wristband.
Oh yeah good ole Conan LOL.
2:12 Epoxy? 😁
That was my thought Gabriel. As it worked out I did not need epoxy.
