I'd have thought that the idea behind the laser "musket" was that it never ran out of ammunition because you charged it the way you charge the flashlight from Amnesia: The Bunker and Metro, so it wouldn't need power cells.
the Zap gun has made the raiders in my game more formidable, the zap gun will replace enemies with pipe guns, and it deals far more damage than pipe weapons
@Gyrfalcon312raiders are borderline retarded junkies who aren't functional enough to perform comparatively basic tasks. It's not plausible that they would even know to use an energy weapon effectively, let alone manufacture and maintain them. The weapon is far more fitting for the Minutemen.
My headcanon is that whatever is producing the laser may need to be connected to a motor some kind and that the motors operation is what shakes the gun.
I've tried several of these. I think my favourite was the unique variant of the Zap Gun, though it's extremely OP since you can stun lock any enemy when you send them flying. Still, lots of fun.
That was a main reason I disregarded the Zap Gun. Not only imbalanced, but making combat a joke - which gets old fast. Tinkerer's Raygun is a good lore-friendly makeshift alternative with a pretty cool unique though.
@Ghost_Kevlar hes wrong in fallout 4 the laser weapons have a red gas that comes out the barrel when fired meaning it is gas cooled which would absolutely provide kickback when the gas is expelled from the front of the gun
@@astolbro7183 but that's just design flaw on Bethesdas part, since laser is basically just ultra hot light beam that has barely recoil. Star Wars did it better. I read somewhere it has 630k times less recoil than an M16 shooting 5.56
My only issue with the zap gun is how common it is. It becomes 50% of weapon spawns and is often more powerful than other weapons of a similar tier. If I knew how or there was a patch to remove it from some leveled list or tone down it's spawn rate I would
I'd expect any weapon that has animated recoil to also kick the screen upwards when firing. And laser weapons have always had recoil in Fallout, so it's not an unreasonable expectation.
@@PancuroniumB Actually, no, Fallout 4 is the first Fallout game that implemented recoil as a feature, none of the weapons in 3 and NV have recoil, the bullet spread is supposed to be a representation of the weapon kicking your aim point around, and laser weapons have spread values so low as to be negligible, which at that point it can be justified as diffusion or weight unbalance making them hard to hold steady. Hell, if you shoot a movable object with a laser weapon in 4 it doesn't move it, so whoever programmed them was aware that they shouldn't have any mass, but it was added in as a either for balance, or because people expect a gun to have recoil.
BTW the x12 has not just an underbarel grenade launcher. Depending on the type of barrel it can be a plasma rocked launcher, with and without targeting variant and also a shotgun style cluster grenade launcher.
Would love to see some Fallout: New Vegas or Skyrim content, mod battles or otherwise. Also, is there any other games you plan on making content on or will you be sticking to Bethesda titles? I'd love to see you review a game in-depth with the kind of scrutiny you review mods with.
I definitely will make Skyrim content at some point. As for non-Bethesda games, I might make some videos about Mount and Blade Warband/Bannerlord, Arma 3, Project Zomboid, or GTA 5 (once I find enough space to reinstall that massive game). I have plenty of ideas, but not enough time or adequate computer hardware.
Hello. I find your videos very soothing and relaxing, plus you go into greater detail than I would expect. A note on the AER-15 and AnotherOne's Laser RCW, and it's recoil (or lack thereof): While lasers do have recoil, it's so small you wouldn't feel it. Flashlights have "recoil" too, but you don't notice it, do you? For a reviewer who openly gives his honest opinion, I would have expected a little bit of research. I still like the rest of your video, plus your criticisms of each mod which was reviewed.
The Wattz and Zap Gun are both permanent parts of my load order. My only complaint about the Zap is that if you reskin your fusion cores they don't show the changed skin on the gun.
7:02 laser weapons SHOULDNT have any recoil imo, its just shooting beams of light so there's nothing that would cause recoil in the gun. regular guns have recoil because there's an explosion inside of the weapon and a bunch of high pressure gass being released, laser weapons don't have that, so they're basically just concentrated high powered flashlights
Nah a real laser weapon would have some recoil, minimal but definitely some. Recoil is caused by Newton's third law, conservation of momentum, to eject anything would cause some recoil. Photons have relativistic mass aka effective mass, despite being matterless.
The people who say laser weapons shouldn't have recoil are really getting to the modders huh! Obviously the laser weapons would actually have regular, downward recoil, as the machinery would push it down slightly, but the best advantage of laser recoil would be that it is completely vertical, and there would be zero horizontal recoil.
Fun Fact, the LaserRCW in Anotherone's mod is from the MonkeyDepot Thompson Submachinegun mod. Which is a generally fantastic mod that not many people have tried, kept out of my load order because holy shit it adds so fucking much custom .45 ammo types to the loot tables its not even funny. Just constantly piling hundreds of rounds of ammo on almost every loot source.
I think the Brotherhood can use AEP-7 pistols, but don't quote me on that. I know that the Zap Gun's LL integration makes it a very common weapon for raiders and super mutants, but I can't recall if the Brotherhood use it too.
I've been playing FO4 since 2016 and currently have 464 mods in my load order. I dislike munitions because it adds yet another layer of tediousness on to the game. So yes, there are those of us that dislike Munitions in 2023.
Imagine using munitions. What's the point of adding a bunch of new ammunition types when, most of the time, you'll won't have more than 1 weapon installed to use it? It's a minor improvement for the headaches you might have to deal with.
It’s only 77mb and the weapon fits right into the game, if anything the institute laser gun stands out way more and looks out of place yet it’s somehow in the base game

This is an old video, I recognize that. Also, no mean to hate, but to anybody looking at the Winchester P94, I have to warn everybody. I have to whole-heartedly agree with the opinion that you expressed in the video. As a deeper explanation of the odd balancing and level list issues, from my personal experience over the past few days, every third BoS member carries the P94 MKII starting at around level 25; all of whom which are able to kill you in a shot or two if wearing medium combat armor. The model is nice but the sounds and polishing are abhorrent. I have to advise you to look elsewhere if you'd like a plasma caster mod.
There are patches to rebalance the dps, fix broken attachments, make the ammo plasma, and all. Not sure about the third person power armor or railway rifle sound issues though.
I do not like the modern style laser rifle not only does it not look like it should be in fallout it has nonsensical parts on it that make you wonder why is there a magazine that looks like that on a laser rifle?
I don't disagree with your criticisms of these mods, but you could be less blunt. Mods are made by hobbyists and enthusiasts for free. Being overly harsh would be like walking into an art class for kids, picking up their work, and then telling them that it's garbage and others should avoid looking at it.
