Keep Benadryl on your property. My vet said when they get bit like that give them Benadryl. This info may help.

I don’t know if there’s a reason you didn’t do this but the trucks can do what they call a run. And they start at one area half open Thier truck and drive. And it lays out a nice road of whatever material you are pouring saved you 90% of all the work your doing now.

You have every reason to be Melanie, and George. Does Jason get that know how from you George? Jason seems to be able to come up with some darn good creative or alternative solutions when something isn't working out quite right. I love watching him work, I don't know if he realizes how talented he is!!!! Love what they are doing out there on ShootDang Ranch, the hard work is paying off!!!

Weld a ball that fits the tongue of your trailer to the top side of the bucket on your tractor. Once the trailer is loaded with your gravel and taken to the site where you want to unload it, connect the trailer to the ball on the bucket. This way you can pull the trailer and raise the bucket and let the gravel slide off.

We had a low spot where the water pooled up on the up hill side, our cure was digging a bucket wide trench about 12-18” deep (yours doesn’t look to outlet that deep) placed a stick of perforated tile (on a slight grade) placed fabric on top of tile, filled trench with pea gravel, covered with dirt then put gravel/rock on top, our problem was solved otherwise we had to go four wheeling to get in and out of drive. Its a french drain, some ppl just use a shovel width and place pea gravel in but slope to lower elevation. Enjoy watching your videos. We are working on our own property and get lots of cool ideas from you three.

Best place to get bit for a dog if he is going to get bit. Get some Benadryl caplets and keep them on hand. Yes the neon pink and yes you can use generic. Had a dog get bit by a rattler in the same spot. Vet told me to give her Benadryl and make sure she was drinking. Her whole head swelled up. Took a week and she was good as new, never went into the vet. Benadryl is good for any thing that causes an alergic reaction. Spider bites, bee stings and that kind of thing. I gave 1 3 X's a day to about a 50# dog. I use 1/2 for my 5# brats too when their alergies kick up. Looking great boys.

Jared not on the top of your list, but getting a truck might be better sometime down the road. Love all your hard work. I hope the puppy recovers fast. He'll learn fast not to mess with snakes. Rest up tomorrow another day. 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️

If you can get the 250 ft of rock for anywhere near $2k, count yourselves lucky. We talked to a road builder in our area that quoted us for a 12 ft wide driveway at 900 feet with 5 to 6 inches of base course material at $10k and then rock on top of it could be another $6k. It adds up very fast for road/driveway building. We already dumped in $8k so far just for the culverts to divert water through the driveway properly. Of course, with your tractor you can save some cost on the labor and spread and compact the materials yourself as we dont have a tractor yet for our project. Cheers from NPL!

  • @bobdavis6862

Idea for you guys on spreading the gravel. Put the 2x4setup that you have on the front side of trailer, fill the trailer like you you doing, then hook up the straps and tractor to the 2x4 setup and let the tractor hold the tarp, then drive the truck ahead. That should lay the gravel out as you pull the trailer and you won’t have to try and pull the tar from under the gravel like in your past efforts?

  • @julieb9215
    @julieb9215 2 ปีที่แล้ว

If y’all end up needing to do more, try putting an 8’ cattle panel (or a 16’ one folded in half) on the bottom of the trailer & attach the boards at the very end of the panel like you do to pull fence. Hook the tractor to the boards of the cattle panel but pull the truck with trailer forward to unload. Hopefully that will allow a lot of the rock to simply fall through similar to how a dump truck would tailgate rock.

Omelettes for dinner!!! A suggestion for temporary shower.. 12 v camp shower on pole over a cattle water trough.. the round one about 18 inches deep.. rubber mat to step onto. We rigged a tarp around 4 poles to make a stall. Worked well for us.

LGD are notorious for going up against snakes. Benadryl will be their best friend. They really are amazing dogs. A couple of mine that bred were foundation dogs for the Colorado Mountain Dog "breed registry". That's not a brag...just saying how much I love the livestock dogs. Y'all are doing one hell of a job! It ain't easy a bit, will take years to get your ranch the way you want it, but it's so worth it for no other reason that it's YOURS (collectively, I mean). Really enjoying the progress. Brings back good and bad memories. Ha! Land is gold. Y'all are gonna do just fine.

Try hooking one side of the mat to the back of the trailer stretch it out towards the truck. Load the trailer with gravel/dirt then hook the mat, closest to the front of the truck, to the tractor. The back stays fixed, mat is pulled from the front back so it's folded on itself as it comes back.

  • @janiegrissom6344

Hi guys... I don't envy all the gravel spreading you did here. We have a long driveway & have to get a truck load of 21AA every few years. Just so you know, the gravel will push down in and almost disappear over time. The more you drive over it & pack it down, that dirt just rises back up to the surface. We heard about an industrial fabric that's layed down 1st, and helps delay the gravel from doing this. I know you couldn't afford to use it over your whole driveway, but maybe in the trouble spots. Also, how about some ditches here & there to allow run off, or taper the shoulders to get the excess water to settle there instead. That's what the road commission did on either side of our driveway out by the highway. We had a temporary pond on either side when the snow melted & heavy rains came, but the driveway out there wasn't muddy anymore. Just thinking out loud. I recently got a price on gravel, and it wasn't cheap here in MI either.🙄😏 Keep up the good work. Really enjoying all your various vlogs. Just wish you all the best... God Bless!💗

  • @curtstacy779

I have a 1/4 mile long drive. same wet problem. I found cutting ditches on the sides and using the dirt to raise the drive itself helped a lot. giving it a crown in the middle will let water flow to the ditches easier also. on that corner do a big ditch to lower the water level there. leave some spots to drive off in a low car. I made them just a foot or two deep where it was bad. I just used my back blade on an angle to cut the ditches. Hope this might help! It's nice you already have rocks for the top. it is expensive!

Crushed concrete is a lot cheaper and works just as well. A full load, about 12 yards, is only 240ish here in Texas. Still going to need several loads, but even a few hundred dollars in savings is enough for 1 or 2 boxes of ammo.

I one time did like you are with the tarp. But I left the long part up front, then pulled back over the top to unload it. No dirt on the tarp that way, just a pile of gravel to level. Hey, why don't you move the curve were it's wet up the hill 30 FT to a dry spot. Maybe you could make a pond in the wet spot, when ever you could work at it little by little. Drive looks nice guys, be safe at your journey in life.

A very sensible decision to use what you have at hand to lessen the cost of gravel.
Put the wood with a higher piece, attach each end with ropes then attach to side xside. Only scrap off as much as you need.

There's bound to be a place to rent a bumper pull dump trailer fairly close. Your tractor dealer might be able to refer you to someone in the area. Also, with the various old oil field structures on your all's place, there's probably some crushed rock around them. Might be covered with grass. Just be careful you don't hit anything with the tractor like pipe or a deadman. Great progress btw!

  • @ShaneZettelmier
    @ShaneZettelmier 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Research what a swale is. Raising the driveway is OK but that’ll just give you thicker mud. I need to move the water away, then when it rains the water will have a place to go remove dirt from low areas to high areas and make sure it gradually slopes down hill to your drainage areas. If you have Rocky soil you can build up your driveway but putting a bunch of dirt on it is pretty temporary it’s mostly gonna wash away and level out again, if you dig a swale that will give the water way out. Then you can start working on your road and it’s not gonna get washed away. :/

Is there anything you can't solve when things go south, you are very good at coming up with alternative solutions, and Jason I have seen that for the last 3 years watching you on your off Grid for over two years, and now SDR, I am proud of you. Jared is obviously progressing well on that BEAST of a Tractor, he was rocking that hard today!! You are a natural already, of course!

Put the Camera in with all the Animals in the Fenced in part for 10 to 15 minutes & I could just watch the animals play for While. The goats are too funny, especially the babies, hopping around a lot & jumping on the stuff you guys kept in there for them!!
Awe poor Beautiful Cowboy, I could just pew, pew that snake that got him, I am so glad he is ok. He is (they both are) such a sweetheart s & I know I would just mall them with love for real!!! Lol Maybe someday I could meet them?!!
Way to go on getting that driveway started, so you'all don't get stuck anymore, hard work but well worth it!!!
    Again Jason, an awesome Video.
BTW when you were singing the other day, I was like Wow, Jason can sing too!!

💡💡💡IDEA💡💡💡 What if y’all laid that fabric down in the bed of the trailer but instead of the boards being on the back and pulling y’all put them on the front towards your truck. Then load up the rock and pull the boards with the side by side or tractor and at the same time drive the truck and trailer forward slowly. This should dump the dirt in small amounts leaving the fabric on top of the pile instead of trying to dig it out. Of course it’s possible, especially if there is a lot of rock, that the fabric will tear leaving the whole load in the trailer. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Just thought I would share, if it works this could save a few steps and time.

You have already thought of this yourself and yes I understand that the money is or can be a problem for this,
but you should have a kind of dump trailer for this work and equivalent work.
have you already tried to make a playwood box that you put on the trailer and then raise it with a winch or the tractor so that the box works as a dump trailer?
Or is the ground/gravel too heavy for that?

I put the date, as close as I can figure, of when they were laid. Then you can pitch the ones that don't hatch. Give them about a week after the 21 days, before pitching. Good luck!

The drive way looks good, maybe a French drain culvert could be used at that corner area to let the water flow thru and under the road. A tamper/compactor could help (even a 55 gal. Drum sealed up and filled with water or concrete rigged to roll pulled by the tractor/ side by side).

Great video, guys! Hey, use that screen with the pulling end on the truck cab end of the bed or the tongue end of the trailer and pull over the top of the pile. I used that method moving A LOT of Turkey poop for a garden and it worked great. Turkey poop probably isn't as heavy as rock and dirt but I still think it will still work. Thank you for your work and your content!

Hint: build a berm on the low side and use the dirt that is there, then ditch away from ❤

@The Crockers Turn your mat around and back up while lifting bucket to give rock a rolling effect also alot more will come off the side ending up in the tire lanes and not so much in center,

Reverse the mat on the trailer pull from the front of the trailer to the rear it should roll the dirt right out and spread it out !

Now that's a pretty neat thing to have to dump stuff from the bed of the truck. I've never seen one of those before. I might need to get one! Glad the pups ok.

Take it back to Harbor Freight! Or put a heavier pole on it with a hole in it for a smaller pipe handle. Or just dump dirt directly from the bucket on to the road and one person spread it out while the other person goes back for more dirt then switch jobs! God Bless!

I don't know how far you got to go to dig up the dirt/rock but I'd be using the tractor. I've moved 100 ton of rock 1 5' bucket at a time over 300 yds for a road that the dump trucks couldn't get into. Got it done in 10 hrs.

I think the vets give benedryl to dogs that have snake bites. You may want to check that out and if it is true keep some out on the farm for the fur-babies. Ya'll are really working hard and it shows.

You guy's are rocking this hard! Love how you show all the things you try as that's real life. Honestly, this is one of my favorite videos because this is American ingenuity right here.
I'm thankfully Cowboys OK!!!! I seriously hate snakes. Sorry about your camera but glad to hear you could somewhat fix it.

Dig some small trenches at an angle about 20-25 feet off of your road ever so often and it will keep the water from washing your road away and puddling up. Keep up the work, digging the place and the work you guys are doing!

With the left side of the driveway holding water, you may have a natural spring there.
That may be a potential pond area. Sure hope little Cowboy heals quickly.

POND TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD with a canter down towards pond away from road. Can never have to many ponds and it does not need to be to deep.

Hello, please be sure to get all the dogs shots and heart worm meds. Don't want any of them getting parvo or rabies or heart worms. Got my 6 new chickens. They are laying 5 to 6 eggs daily. I also have Easter egger and Rhode Island Red baby chicks. Waiting for the Weather to warm up to plant my garden. Love watching the ranch come together. I love Rufio!! Have a great week . Peace ✌️.

Maybe a small pond where it is wet would help drain it from the road? Love the new property.

Like ive said go get that mill and get to work making timbers from your own trees to help with building your projects. At a bare minimum build a cedar shower stall...cant wait to see the builds starting.
