Agreed! Haven't been interested in Hoyt other than the limb stop option of the Defiant. The Ventum 30 might change all of that! Thanks for another great and thorough review!
The 2005 Bowtech Allegiance was the very 1st Binary Cam available, I personally had the 05 Allegiance at 80 pounds and it was a beast. 313 feet per second with a 465 grain arrow and a 29” draw length
Inside Out Precision posted a video of the RX-5 shot with multiple weight arrows at both 28"/70# and 30"/70# and the results were shocking between the two mods. Almost equivalent speeds with a slightly heavier arrow with the 2" difference. So obviously there is some performance built into the shorter end mod...which I am happy to see since I shoot 26.5". There was also another video that did the 28" to 28.5" comparison and that showed nearly 20 fps difference with the shorter mod being faster!!
On the 28 vs 28.5 question I am one of those people and got in contact with Hoyt. They themselves recommend I shoot the Ventum 33 which is in line with what many other shooters report - performance at the upper end of the #2 mod is vastly superior to the lower end on the #3 mod, even though the Centum 30 has a higher IBO rating...
Now that sights will be available, most bows can be drilled and tapped to use the picatinny rail and sights. It’s not hard to do! * Also, the nubby at bottom isn’t really a freebie from Hoyt, it’s needed to dampen vibration and sound, like Mathews nano weights.
@@PMOUTDOORS24 yeah basically saying they serve the same purpose, the Hoyt without that little nub definitely has more vibration and some more noise to it kind of like the Matthews without the nano dampener👍 Keep up the good work, love your podcast and reviews
I never really understood the "vibration" issue. Does it matter if the bow vibrates a bit after/during the shot? Is it more of a noise issue? More vibration = more noise maybe? This comes from a bow hunter and not a target shooter BTW.
Did you get a chance to do the 28 and 28.5” draw and speed test!!? My draw length is in between both and want to see what’s better or if I should go with a 33
Last year I shot a lot of bows. I was planning on getting a PSE and loved the Evoke 31. However they were impossible to find and they had gone to the NXT's. I was set to shoot an NXT and went to The Bow Rack. They didn't have any of them in my draw length. They talked me into shooting the RX4 Alpha and it wound up being perfect for me, so I walked out with it. I would be curious of your opinion. I have noticed we seem to have similar feel for what we like in bows. Do you think this new Binary system (without Yokes???) will be better than Hoyt's old system in the long run??? Tunability??? Bow staying in tune??? I still have a Bowtech Invasion as my back-up bow, so I know I like Binary cams, but used to the Yokes for tuning purposes.
Many believe that the shim style tuning stays tuned better than the yolks. I think based off the shoot-ability of the new hbx cam that it’s a good move for Hoyt.
@@PMOUTDOORS24 Yeah, I was really curious. Having been a Bowtech owner for so long, it seemed like all the guys would talk about was how much better Yolk tuning was. I just never know, because I haven't gotten to the point of working on bows yet. Brand loyalty and all being what it is, it always seems like whatever they shoot is the best!😂 Thanks for the reply and information. I value your opinion. I may have to try one, but probably not in the market for a new bow for awhile now. The RX4 Alpha seems like a great bow for me at this point. The only thing I have noticed so far, was that I had to have it re-tuned 3 times in about 3 months. I thought it was just due to poor quality strings, but maybe not??? I was planning on getting some Gas Ghost strings for it and see if that made the re-tuning go away. Thanks again!
I wouldn’t worry about that. Binary cams have been around for years so it’s not like their breaking into new technology. Plus, I haven’t heard any issues with them so far. I would buy one with no worries personally
Oh yeah this bow is great!!! When you get it there’s enough cam lean to give you a good full day to tune it right and then when you shoot it it is about 40 FPS slower than it should be close enough right?
Great review, I'm looking at buying a new bow and am adding this one for my demo list, thank you! Out of curiosity, I can't find any "in line" picatinny mounted sights, been Googling but nothing is coming up. Are these too new?
