Hey Gbay I just want to say huge thank you for making these kinds of documentaries. I'm not the kind of person who leaves a reaction to videos often but this is definitely one of the cases that I do I'm so grateful for these documentaries that you put so much time and effort in. As a player who has been around League since late S1/Start S2 it's so incredibly nostalgic to see all these videos about 'the good old days'. Hearing you talk so passionate about old League just gives me goosebumps from start to finish. Especially the start where you build up the story and set the sence and then at the end where you wrap things up and set up for the next video or next great story. Also a very underappreciated thing worth mentioning about this and alot of your other videos is how easy accesible it is. For me it is ofcourse easy to watch because I know League and watched all these tournaments. But I always ask my girlfriend to watch these documentaries with me. My girlfriend never played a single video game in her life and only knows about League from watching me play. And now also from your doc's. She just enjoys it so much to listen to you talk about the nostalgia, the greatness of the players and the passion that you have for the game and the competitive scene. You are a big reason why I can share so much League passion with my girlfriend so thank you SO much for that Much love from the Netherlands
I've watched the first section about the beginnings of Faker multiple times already because it's surreal to see the ranking screenshots while knowing where he ends up. So cool
When i started watching and it said a 5 part documentary I thought it was 5 chapters cuz 50 mins is pretty long, after the end i realized holy shit its really 1st video of 5. Very well done documentary GBAY. Thanks for the vid.
I love all your documentaries. I started watching them earlier this year, and it is because of you that I am so much more interested in LoL esports. Your storytelling and narrative makes it so compelling for me to listen to and get enthralled in all these stories, and just made me realize how emotional some of them are. In fact, deft seems like a really nice person, you can see that his former team players still in good relationships with him, especially his younger brothers from drx2020, and It must be heartbreaking, when you have to step over your little brothers for your dream, but yes it’s a sport Deft and Faker lifes is really like anime, this’s really amazing
Finally something recent enough that I don't know anything about it! I'm excited about it. edit: Turns out I knew about everything for part 1. Looper was damn good in those Worlds.
So excited for the full five part documentary, man! Idk how some people can argue that this is not the greatest rivalry in LOL tbh. These two are probably some of the only players to win their regional league, MSI, and Worlds (can only think of Ruler atm,) and the rivalry spans such a long time it's hard to match. Some random contenders for Faker's greatest rivalry (as he is the GOAT after all): Xiaohu: Most international games played vs. each other, but Faker never lost to him at Worlds, eliminating Xiahou every time they both came to Worlds, basically. A relative tie at MSIs where they both played (2016 win Faker vs. 2022 win Xiaohu), so not as back and forth and Xiaohu not having Worlds kind of hinders the discussion for greatest rivalry Chovy: Nah, outside of recent LCK finals, Faker's done wayyyyyyyy more internationally/domestically and he also used to destroy him in finals in the Griffin days. Samsung Galaxy players: 2016/2017 back to back finals with 1-1 on each other. The longevity of this rivalry after these years did not last though. Pawn: Dominated Faker in 2014, and 2015 MSI along with Deft but again no longevity after that. Caps: 2019 vs G2 was a nightmare for Faker, but basically same story and Caps has no Worlds. Overall, Deft has to be his greatest rival even outside of the amazing storyline surroundng the two
if your list is all mid, i think it's fine but if count all players why no Uzi nor Ruler? Both faced SKT/T1 multiple times in the past (Uzi - Worlds 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019/Ruler from LCK).
@@minhanhle4027 Valid points for sure, was very spontaneous so could not fit everyone. Ruler is probably in the discussion for greatest rival along with Deft since 2016/2017 finals and this year with MSI and Worlds. Uzi is a GOAT player too but no worlds to his name sadly
Gbay I've been following you since 2015, and this is truly a special video. I'm so hopeful for the next 4 parts. Truly could be your magnum opus - yes even more than mushroom infused socks.

Funny how deft was described as easily getting “tilted” in his earlier stage, only to have developed the fortitude of a mountain.
That's exactly why he's so unshakable now. He worked hard to overcome that problem in his mental game, and built a strong foundation.

Idk how some people can argue that this is not the greatest rivalry in LOL tbh. These two are probably some of the only players to win their regional league, MSI, and Worlds (can only think of Ruler atm,) and the rivalry spans such a long time it's hard to match.
Some random contenders for Faker's greatest rivalry (as he is the GOAT after all):
Xiaohu: Most international games played vs. each other, but Faker never lost to him at Worlds, eliminating Xiahou every time they both came to Worlds, basically. A relative tie at MSIs where they both played (2016 win Faker vs. 2022 win Xiaohu), so not as back and forth and Xiaohu not having Worlds kind of hinders the discussion for greatest rivalry
Chovy: Nah, outside of recent LCK finals, Faker's done wayyyyyyyy more internationally/domestically and he also used to destroy him in finals in the Griffin days.
