I was Protestant Baptist (Cradle Catholic but converted to Protestantism for a long time ). When one of the Pastors who is a very good friend of mine decided to leave because he didn’t agree with an interpretation of a Bible scripture with the other Pastors and looked for a Baptist church that agrees with his interpretation, I decided to leave to and I asked him where I should go. I didn’t know then that not all Protestant Churches had the same beliefs and so he told me he would look for one for me that believes the same way as I do, or rather believe what I was told to believe by the pastors at my congregation. I realized then that I was like a lost sheep being led by other lost sheep. I started investigating what the Catholic Church really teaches and realized all I thought were true with the church were lies told to me by my Protestant Pastors and other members. I am out of that wilderness now and coming back to Catholicism is the best decision I have made in my life. I now live a life devoted to serving God and receiving him in the Holy Eucharist.

Good for you. That pastor had what mother Angelica called,’itchy ears’ … looking for a church that believes what you believe. That’s such a faulty way of deciding where to go. The church you need is the church that tells you the truth whether you like it or not.

@@grandeurglory5030 when I was younger, some people invited me to a what they said is a Christian Bible Study and not knowing they weren’t Catholic I went. Of course Catholicism was totally misrepresented to me (I didn’t at that time know what Catholics really believe) and I thought those were true. I hated the Catholic Church after that and even tried to convince my mother (who never stopped praying the rosary for me to come back to Catholicism) that praying to the Saints and Mary would lead her soul to Hell. It was not til about several years ago when I started doing my own research that I learned the truth about Catholicism and here I am now with a very strong Catholic Faith and serve my church as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. I just don’t believe in the Holy Eucharist. I know it’s Jesus.

Similarly, I walked away from the Church because I was looking for something better: I never found something better. I got lazy and broke a promise to the priest when my wife and I were married that we would raise our children Catholic. I didn't do that, and I never had them baptized. Seven years ago, I began a journey back to Christianity, first starting out listening to several Protestant evangelists on the radio. I tried the Catholic Channel but they lacked the content I was looking for on their channel. Perhaps it was because all I ever heard was the yuck yuck with the Catholic Guy during my drive time. I wanted to hear the Word of God, not a poor rendition of Abbott and Costello.
Last year, my son enrolled his daughter in the local parish Catholic school. This was a blessing / kick in the pants from the Holy Spirit because I attended daily mass late in the year while on vacation. It started out being a chance to see my granddaughter at Wednesday Mass, and then it became something more. The parish priest is an amazing young man, and a true preacher of the Word of God. This is what I had been missing all of those years, and I found a home; a real home - a spiritual home. I joined the parish late last year, and it's the best decision I could ever have made.
Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ. His tender mercy is boundless. I have a much greater appreciation of the Eucharist than I did when I was young. The Body and Blood of our Savior is present in the Eucharist. With the Eucharist, He is in me, and I am in Him. Sunday morning is truly the highlight of my week.

I thought it was anxiety or something and yet, I was already a miserable sack... if I left, I'd have nothing left to believe in or hope for, so I rejected the thoughts. Sometimes I find myself having to "shoo" the thoughts away too. Make sure you go to confession often. The saints were attacked quite often, if you're attacked you must be doing something right. While I obviously concern myself with avoiding that calamity, I'm not plagued with thoughts of Hell. I am, however, attacked with various blasphemous thoughts, usually when I pray. i grew up Catholic, and left it behind after I was confirmed to attend a protestant college and protestant church. But several events have happened in my life that shook my faith, and i was suddenly faced with the real reality that i do not have a strong foothold in my faith as i thought I did. I began to hunger and search, asking God questions and praying for the Holy spirit to guide me. I began to pray “Lord help me grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ” because the questions i had were scary. That led me to have a sudden desire to pray the rosary (which i hadn’t done in over 10 years) and take Holy Communion. i’ve begun to read the Cathechism and i’ve been listening to Father Mikes podcast as well as taking in Catholic content like the youtube channel Pints with Aquinas. I have the desire to attend daily mass, something i used to scoff at my mother for doing. I’m not sure how this is going to end, but i’d be a fool if i didn’t acknowledge the very real guiding of the Holy Spirit. please pray for me as i embark on this journey, because i have to admit - i am quite nervous!

A testimony of a former Roman Catholic: "After about 7 years of wrestling, I came out of the RCC about 3 months ago. It was an incredibly difficult decision, but I realized I couldn't keep sitting on the fence. I was stuck. Eventually I realized that regardless of whether some of the things the RCC teaches are true or not, if it requires me to commit even one idolatrous act or affirm one thing that is untrue, then I couldn't be a part of it. Something I just realized in the past couple of days is that the RCC has a different Gospel than the one I believe, and I'm not than the one I believe, and I'm not talking about the usual Protestant argument of faith vs works, etc. The RCC teaches that you have to accept all of its dogmas. As I understand the gospel, it is the simple truth that if someone repents of their sin and believes in Jesus they are saved. In effect, the RCC gospel is repent and believe in Jesus, believe in the Immaculate Conception, sinless life, and bodily assumption of Mary, believe that the first Pope was Peter and that there is a successive line of bishops who are infallible, believe in Purgatory and that your own merits and the merits of others can shorten or eliminate your time there, believe that forgiveness is only through a priest, and believe every other part of Cannon Law put forward by the Church. If you don't affirm any one of those beliefs you are anathematized according to the RCC. That's quite the burden if you ask me. It reminds me of the religious leaders in the time of Jesus, who had added so much to the Law that people were being crushed by it. I will pray that you get some clarity because I know what it feels like to be in that state of limbo.
It's like you want to be fully on board and on fire for Christ, but how can you do that if you don't even know what you believe yourself. At least that's how I experienced it. Either way, don't be afraid. If you are seeking with all your heart, God will direct you. Shalom."

She had her conversion to Catholicism there. By the time she finished her nurses training, the war was over and nurses were returning from the war. She was offered a job at a Mercy Hospital in Oregon, where she met my dad and they raised their flock. There were times I have wondered about the Catholic Church. Which is not perfect, as we all know. But the one thing that kept me from even looking else where, was Mary. No other Christian Church honored her for being the Mother of God. Some don't even see her as important at all... and in my brain that was nuts. I mean I am pretty sure Jesus thought she was important. She is His Mom!
So even though I questioned and wondered about this or that. I knew I couldn't be apart of a Church that doesn't see the gift we have in the Mother Jesus gave us all. I'd be lost without her for sure.
So when I figured that much out, I then went on to Saint Peter. Who is the first Pope, and walked with Jesus at his side. Jesus himself made him the first Pope.. who am I to go against Jesus's plan?
Then finally through the help of reuniting fully with my faith. I finally started understanding the Truth behind the Eucharist. I honestly didn't get it, but I do now. Thanks to a talk I listened to from Father Mike Schmitz. Which also now has lead me to the Bible in a Year. I have a reading disability, more so in the comprehension department. I tried often in the past to read the Bible. I didn't get far before my eyes to my brain went cross-eyed. With the Bible in the Year. I don't need to read. I just listen, and after there is a reflection that helps so much! Sometimes I still don't understand always.... but I'm on my 2nd time through, and plan to keep going as long as it keeps going. It has changed my world. I learn more things every time and I know it will keep shaping me as time goes on.
I now volunteer at the Big Basilica down town. I am getting more active and involved, and it brings great Joy....
And I really think I was lead to this part of my life, because I refused to let go of my Rosary and The Blessed Mother. (And Saint Michael, but that's a different story lol)
God works in Amazing ways.. I love hearing all the different ways he pulls us in.
Thank you Mr. Cavins for The Bible in a Year... I thought I'd live my whole life without actually hearing it in full.... Thank you.

I truly believe that this is the true faith. I also believe it is under unprecedented attack from within and without. We will triumph and become a more perfect reflection of God than ever before, including the firey first days, but there can be no resurrection without the crucifixion and we haven't seen the worst of it yet.

my simple understanding of Catholicism is that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah, and he said "I didn't come to change the law but to fulfill it".Obviously he didn't start a new religion but started the continuation of Judaism under the new covenant of his salvation for whole mankind. His first followers were all Jews and they started this new covenant Judaism in their respective synagogues of Jerusalem, Damascus, Antioch, Rome, Corinth, Smyrna etc. with the basic tradition like tabernacle, alter, menohra, priesthood etc. intact which can still be found only in the Catholic Church. This simple historical facts simply suggest that the church Jesus established under the stewardship of Peter is the Catholic Church.

Is Faith apart from works dead?
An analogy of faith and works:
Hi folks, we often hear the reformation was grounded in the doctrine primarily of "Salvation is by faith alone". Consider an analogy: how one's path in life is related to salvation?
My loving father wanted to save me from the hard physical life that he endured, as a labourer and tradesman.
"In my youth, I was urged to enrol in a University degree courtesy of a significant monetary gift from my parents (one I never earned)
The orientation and initiation ceremony was what one might compare with being "born again". My initial feelings of elation was "hey I have made it, I now belong here".
Unfortunately over the next 4 years maintaining that faith in my own ability and wanting to live up to my parents expectations took a lot of hard work. Faith alone would not have achieve much at all!. I was "being saved" from a hard life knowing I must not falter or lose the gift I never earned. I am extremely grateful to my lecturers for breaking open the words I needed to understand. Without inspired leaders I would never have been able to make or achieve the results I needed for success.
When I finally graduated I felt I had justified the faith my mentors had placed in me. But would mere faith alone bring the career, lifestyle and rewards that only hardwork can? Every day I faced many challenges knowing that I must remain on task, hold fast to what I was taught in the beginning and throughout my journey.
So to succeed I knew I had to just keep the faith, run my race and perservere to the very end . After 38 years as a senior analyst I can now retire and claim my reward like Paul. (cf. 2 Tim 4)
In conclusion, there was a number of ACCUMULATIVE (not mutually exclusive) factors that contributed to a successful life as a spouse, parent and senior analyst. I would never claim that they individually or ALONE would have got me to where I am now. It would be a total misuse of the word. "Sola" which implies exclusivity, independence or in solitude.
Ergo, in the context of salvation and satisfaction in life, the term "Sola...." is a total misuse of the word. What is needed is a complimentary term to reflect how all these inter-dependent factors work together.(1 Cor 3:9) . A Latin word like "simul", or in Greek, "groppo" would be infinitely more appropriate. Mazi Fide, Lectura, Endura etc. Get it!!

In protestant churches, they only use the bible and worship Jesus. The catholic church seems to have a lot of distractions (rosaries, Mary, indulgences, adorations of objects, rituals of various types), non of which is spreading the word of Jesus to the lost. Do you remember or commemorate Holy, Good Friday or Easter? Of course not. If so, how?

John G. Peace be with you. That is because the Catholic church is the true, wholesome 'Body of Christ' that he initiated on the 'Rock' called Peter. So when the devoted Catholics talk about the church it is implied that they are talking about Jesus. Also, the Bible that you referred to....wouldn't be in place if not for the Catholic church. A gentle reminder that in the Gospel people were healed by touching the robes of Jesus, and the handkerchiefs used by Paul healed people. Holiness is contagious and God can impart His grace through sacramentals too. These are not distractions. Rather consider them as arsenals in our fight against evil. Just like you need coaching, good facilities, good nutrition, and good rest to become a champion athlete all these spiritual gifts keep us focussed on the 'lamb of God', Jesus Christ. The Rosary is the entire new testament. It is a tool to meditate upon the important incidents in the life of our savior. Everything in the Catholic church points towards Jesus. God bless.

Yes, all these discussions it is about the RELATIONSHIP with CHRIST, because CHRIST THE SON OF GOD BUILD ONLY ONE CHURCH WITH THE AUTHORITY OF HIS FATHER, LORD OF HEAVEN AND EARTH THROUGH HIS APOSTLE SIMON PETER ONLY, NOT EVEN THROUGH HIS 11 APOSTLES BUT ONLY ONE CHURCH AND THE POPES ARE THE SUCCESSORS RIGHT FROM HIS APOSTLE SIMON PETER. AND CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF OUR CATHOLIC CHURCH.
BUT NOW THERE ARE THOUSAND OF CHURCHES BUILD BY MEN WITH THEIR OWN AUTHORITY, THEY REJECTS AND PROTEST AGAINST HIS CHURCH.
Mathew 10:22 - Jesus told to His Apostles "and you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved".
Mathew 12:30 - Jesus said "he who is not with Me is against Me and he who does not gather with Me scatters".
Mathew 15:8-9 - Jesus said "this people honor Me with their lips but their heart is far from Me. In vain do they worship Me teaching as doctrines the precepts of men".
Mathew 15:13-14 - Jesus said "every plant which My heavenly Father has NOT PLANTED WILL BE ROOTED UP. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit".
Mathew 16:18-19 - Jesus said to His Apostle Simon Peter "you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the key of the Kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven".
Luke 9:5 - Jesus said "and wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them".
Luke 9:25 - Jesus said "FOR WHAT DORS IT PROFIT A MAN IF HE GAINS THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSES OR FORFEITS HIMSELF?".
Luke 10:16 - Jesus told to His Apostles "he who hears you hears Me and he who rejects you rejects Me and he who rejects Me REJECTS HIM WHO SENT ME".
Luke 10:19 - Jesus said to His Apostles "behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall hurt you".
Luke 22:31-32 - Jesus prayed for our Church which He build only one church through His Apostle Simon Peter "SIMON, SIMON, BEHOLD, SATAN DEMANDED TO HAVE YOU, THAT HE MIGHT SIFT YOU LIKE WHEAT, BUT I HAVE PRAYED FOR YOU THAT YOUR FAITH MAY NOT FAIL AND WHEN YOU HAVE TURNED AGAIN, STRENGTHEN YOUR BRETHREN".
John 5:24 - Jesus said "truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My Words and believes HIM who sent Me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life".
John 5:42-43 - Jesus said "but I know that you have not the love of God within you. I have come in My Father's name and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive".
John 7:18 - Jesus said "he who on his own authority seek his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of Him who sent Him is true and in Him there is no falsehood".
John 10:25-26 - Jesus answered "I told you and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness to Me; BUT YOU DO NOT BELIEVE, BECAUSE YOU DO NOT BELONG TO MY SHEEP".
John 12:48-49-50 - Jesus said "he who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. FOR I HAVE NOT SPOKEN ON MY OWN AUTHORITY; THE FATHER WHO SENT ME HAS HIMSELF GIVEN ME COMMANDMENT WHAT TO SAY AND WHAT TO SPEAK. And I know that His commanent is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has bidden Me".
John 15:1 - Jesus said "I AM THE VINE AND MY FATHER IS THE VINE DRESSER".
John 15:4 - Jesus said "abide in Me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the VINE, neither can you, unless you abide in Me".
John 15:6 - Jesus said "if a man does not abide in Me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers and the branches are gathered thrown into the fire and burned".
John 21:17 - Jesus said to His Apostle Simon Peter "Simon, son of John, do you love?" Peter was grieved because Jesus said to him the third time "do you love Me?" And Peter said to Jesus "LORD, you know everything, you know that I love you" Jesus said to Peter "FEED MY SHEEP".
Mark 4:11-12 - Jesus said to His 12 Apostles "to you has been given the secret of the Kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, so that they may indeed see but not perceive and may indeed hear but not understand, lest they should turn again and be forgiven".
Mark 13:5-6 - Jesus warned us "take heed that no one leads you astray. Many will come in My name, saying I am he and they will leads many astray".
Mark 13:22-23 - Jesus warned us "FALSE CHRISTS AND FALSE PROPHETS WILL ARISE AND SHOW SIGNS AND WONDERS TO LEAD ASTRAY, IF POSSIBLE, THE ELECT. BUT TAKE HEED, I HAVE TOLD YOU ALL THINGS BEFOREHAND".

I am dumbfounded and never will understand how you left your flock from what you called
being a Non-denominational Minister from MN after 7 years! To this day I have never sat under
such a powerfully anointed man of God who could teach and where I literally felt like I was
listening to Jesus speak. Especially your Lazarus sermon, I thought I was right there seeing
Jesus call Lazarus fourth out of the tomb, it was just so powerful. I have married a man of
God that was raised Roman Catholic but he for whatever reasons (besides how mean the
nuns were to him) says he will never step foot into the Catholic church ever again. He says
something about the people being lied to and they're not being told the truth. I have met a few
lady friends from the church I started going to after you abandoned us in MN where they all
refer to themselves as recovering Catholics! There is surly something rotten in Denmark
somewhere. That's neither here nor there, all I wish is that the Father Bless you Jeff and
Emily both beyond your wildest expectations in the rest of this year of 2023.

The Holy Church gives us EVERYTHING we need for our Salvation: the sacraments, the teachings, the communion and prayers of the Saints, the Bible and above all a full knowledge of the person of Christ made freely accessible to all. So we are not alone on our path to salvation. Please, let us pray for the Church and for our priests.

When people are in the wrong spirit, there is no use talking to them-they are distractions from the Enemy. They deflect from the real answer by their questions, which are setups in the wrong direction-do not be deceived by them, while praying for them. If Allowed. At times, God will not Allow us to Pray for a bedeviled one! "I do not say that you should pray for such an one"/"For that I say not that any man should ask"-1 John 5:16-!

I was an Evangelical who became an Episcopalian and as a result later became Catholic only to discover once I was inside for a while that the Catholic Church does not believe in the same faith I believe in. It has no fire and is a miserable failure in ministry. I cannot stay in it. I too am done with the Catholic Church.

Suggest asking yourself: Why would the real God ever want to spend eternity with YOU? What do you have to offer? Seriously. Without Him, none of us would exist. Everything is about Him as well as others (per Jesus) not about each individual's selfish ego.
You're projecting your own character flaws onto the church just like Martin Luther did. A normal person would try improving whatever needed this. Luther's teachings programmed you to be a do-nothing whiner -- a perfect member for Team Satan.

Sounds like the unrest is in you rather than the church …like you’re never happy anywhere? Take some time to look at that before jumping ship yet again. The question isn’t if the catholic church believes what you believe, but rather if they teach the truth. And that they do. That’s all that matters.

Mr Cavins…I have been a part of a couple of your Bible studies, and they are truly amazing. I’m having trouble because of all of the changes happening in our Church. A lot of the Clergy prefer to go against the laws of God, because they are afraid the truth will make people leave the church.

HOW THE CATHOLIC CHURCH PRESERVED ITS COMPILED BOOK CALLED "BIBLE"?
    .
    .
The very first Christian Bible was produced by the Catholic Church
in the 4th century and approved for general Christian use by the local councils at Rome (382AD), Hippo (393) and Carthage (397AD). Catholic bishops had convened to decide on which books would became part of the New Testament canon, considering that there were hundreds of letters/epistles, and gospels that exist in the first 300 years of Christianity. Finally, the Church officially decided that only 27 books were to be part of the New Testament, and added it to 46 books of the Septuagint Old Testament scriptures used by the early Christians, making a one single 73-books volume called the Bible.
    .
The term "Bible" is not even written in the Bible. It was coined by Pope Siricius. The chapters and verses were made by Catholic Cardinals named Stephen Langton & Hugo de Caro, and Sanctes Pagnino, respectively. The purpose of "chapters and vereses" is to let the readers easily memorize certain passage in the Bible. The very first printed Bible was produced by a Catholic inventor named Johannes Guttenberg. He had produced several printed bibles coming from the Latina Vulgata. Prior to that, all Bibles were written by hand through Catholic monks inside the "Scriptorium". It took for them about 10 years to finish a single complete bible.
    .
    .
The Bible is used for Church Liturgy
    .
Non-catholics had accused that the Catholic Church had discouraged its members to read the Bible. This is not true. In fact, at every Catholic Mass throughout the world two readings from the general body of the Bible, and one from the Gospels are being read everyday. Almost all Catholic homes have a Bible (as Bible is a pre-requisite during Sacrament of Marriage) and the Bible is taught in Catholic schools (as it is a perennial tradition).
    .
    .
The Bible was chained in the Middle Ages in order to preserve it from deterioration and prevent from being stolen.
    .
Non-Catholics also accused that the Catholic Church chained the Bible in the Middle Ages to deprive its members from reading the Bible. This myth has come about because Bibles were often locked away in Churches in the past, but that was not to prevent people from having access. It was only made to prevent them from breing stolen. Remember that those few Bibles were hand-written and were incredibly valuable due to scarcity. Just like a phone directory, owners should attached it to a chord/string in order that users will not misplace it or bring it anywhere.
    .
Furthermore, non-Catholics think that the Church forbade people from
reading the Bible by putting it on the Index of Forbidden Books, but the Bibles placed on the Index were
protestant versions (lacking 7 books or badly translated versions). The most famous of which is the King James Version (KJV) which Catholics are not supposed to use.
    .
Historically, it was recorded that protestants also chained their Bible for atleast 300 years. Yet, we did not accused them for depriving their members in accessing the Bible
    .
    .
Catholics Burned Erroneous Bibles to Preserve the Authentic Bible
    .
Non-Catholics frequently accused the Catholic Church for burning bibles so that nobody can read it. Again, that is an inaccurate history. If the Catholic Church truly wanted to destroy the Bible, then the Church had ample opportunity to do so for 1,500 years. But why we still have bibles now?
    .
The Church did not oppose faithful vernacular translations, but only to those heretical and distorted Bible versions (e.g. Wycliffe and Tyndale Bible). It is necessary to destroy those erroneous translations in order to preserve the integrity of the Holy Scripture. If people would have different interpretations to a single and the same bible, how much more to a distorted bible translations?
    .
    .
    Protestant Vs. Protestant
    .
Even to this modern day, the best practical way to preserve an authentic or original product is to burned those fake or fictitous imitations which were captured by the authority. This is actually what the King of England did to those translations made by Wycliffe and Tyndale Bibles. It was the protestant King Henry VIII who ordered the killing of Tyndale, because the Anglican Church considered Tyndale as heretic. In addition, King Richard II of England also ordered to burned the Bible translations made by Wycliffe, after the Catholic Church declared him as heretic. John Calvin ordered the killing and burning of Michael Servetus writings and his Bible translations.
    .
Historically, protestants reformers also destroyed many books of their fellow protestant reformers, that contradict to their teachings.
    .
    .
To non-Catholics: If the Wycliffe and Tyndale Bibles were good translations, why no protestant uses them today? 🤔
    .
    .
    CONCLUSION:
    .
There is no escaping to this fact, that the Bible is a Catholic book, and without the Catholic Church, non-Catholics have no Bible to use in their religious business. The father of protestantism named Martin Luther even admitted it honestly, when he said :
    .
🚩"We are compelled to concede that without the Catholic Church, we knew nothing about the Word of God (Bible)" - Martin Luther
    .
Another famous non-Catholic Bible scholar from Biblical Archeology Society named Dr. Peter Flint - the first man to translate the Dead Sea Scrolls also supported it, when he said:
    .
🚩" Without the Catholic Church, you have no Bible"
    - Dr. Peter Flint, Ph.D

As Catholic Christians, today, more than ever, we have to know what we believe. Yes, indeed, we have to re-discover and learn the GOSPEL and the person of JESUS-CHRIST ! We have to clean our FAITH from all useless and false things that the world introduced in our minds! Let's be focus on FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY/LOVE and the teachings of the HOLY CHURCH

Came back to Catholicism love Jesus i just Cannot find it in me to Worship Mary. I respect her!! Respect the Saints but i cannot comfortably do the Rosary i need Jesus!! Is that wrong??

You should never worship Mary, the catholic church forbids it. You can ask her to pray FOR you… that’s totally different. You can love and admire her, yes. Worship no. Worship is for god alone and involves offering a sacrifice …the Jews offered lambs and goats and doves …. We offer up the sacrifice of Jesus at every mass. That’s worship. Asking Mary to pray for you- not worship. The rosary is a meditation in the life of Jesus… it’s ALL about Jesus … please try it.
