I have the July zippered bags, 2 carry on (sand and pink) and 1 mid size checked (pink). I absolutely love them. I’d love to have the trunk set, but no way to justify adding in more pieces…..I’ll just live vicariously through your acquisitions…for now. 💗

for luggage as beautiful as these what's your take on luggage covers to protect our investment in them? I remember using a clear cover on a metallic trunk in September for a return flight home, removing the cover from the bag and it totally made a difference between a lot of black scuff markings and dirt from airline getting onto my bag! I was thinking of ordering cheap ones on Amazon cause it only came with one cover, but afraid the dimensions will be off. @@ItsTheKellys

I was shocked and amazed by your other July luggage demo/demolition. This bag may give Monos hybrid a run for its money. I wish all manufacturers would make light interiors on their bags though.

Love this! I might get the checked in trunk though. I already have the carry on, which we bought at a pop up store here in NYC, after your review of best carry on last year. You still rated it well this year even with the broken handle. And after July customer service came through with the fix, you probably would rate it number 1 again! 😜

I’m so torn between July and monos I’ve already traveled with July, and I packed for 2 I was surprised with how much it held but that was my brother’s carry on and now I gotta get my own I’m so undecided

According to the reviews on July's website, it looks like the ones with glossy scratched.
I looove the new blue color of the trunk. My concern is that some international airlines have a weight limit which is why I’m leaning towards july light…but the trunk looks better. In Japan, I had to walk with our luggage for a few blocks and I figure lighter luggage is better. Tough decision😢
Yes I agree, but all hybrids or trunks are going to be like that. I have a 7kg allowance coming up and can’t even consider 90% of my bags 😭
This is why I'm leaning towards July lite as well. Just left Thailand with 3 internal flights and every one is 7kg. This trunk is massive. But also Bangkok's airport will throw away any power banks if they don't state the mAhs on them or if they do and are over 32000mAh.
Hi Lauren! I have been binge watching your videos in preparation for an upcoming trip to Ireland. We are traveling via Air Canada and I was wondering if the July carry on will meet their size requirements. So happy I found your channel (VERY informative, BTW).
It should! The monos fits and it’s about the same size. July is a smidge wider but that’s ok

I immediately was waiting for July to come to New York and the day they did their pop up store here in Soho I was online for the grand opening. I bought the tote and got the packaging cells as a gift. I Sooooo want the trunk carry on in Red. But just saw their new colors in navy with a cover. Want the checked but would carry if the airlines ruin it like they recently did to my Medium MVST. Which I can no longer close and use. So I just stick with carryon but I am a plus size girl and can’t pack like you. Lol

Believe me I’ve been trying for over a year. They never respond.
For many years, even though I could’ve written it off as a business expense, it wasn’t the price of Rimowa zipper-less luggage that dissuaded me… It was the weight. And unfortunately, aluminum framed trunk luggage does weigh more. But if you’re not totally one-bagging it with an ultralight, I would go zipper list every time!
I have also “evolved” past wheeled luggage, but I do like the 20 handle heights! Obviously, my height doesn’t change but depending on how tired you are, or if there’s carpet or tile in the airport, or if you have a heavier tech laden top tote strapped on… I really like a choice!
For those who have never used a bag with a removable compression panel I love them. I don’t “unpack” my things, I don’t put my packing cubes in drawers of a hotel room because it’s just one more thing to have to look for when you’re packing up, I simply open my bag and use that as my wardrobe. When you have removable compression panels, you can simply put it to the side and let the straps fall outside and you have a perfectly open area to keep your cubes.
So if I had to choose at this point to add yet another bag to my arsenal, I would be torn between the Monos and the July trunk. They both have specs that I like so it comes down to a personal choice. I sometimes groan when this and another channels mention the colour of luggage as I have never once in my entire life purchased luggage based on the colour… (*)
But having worked in tourism marketing, I actually cringe at bad marketing, and Monos always has EMO beautiful models passively gazing into the distance… But I’m stuck on the name “July” … If it should be named anything, it should be “August” because fantastic people are born in August 😂 … But I still like the colour (*) of the Monos bag behind you!!!

I'm in the market for a new carry on. I've always used a Samsonite soft carry on (but as my kiddo's moved out so did my carry on's ☺️).
I almost pulled the trigger on a Monos but scratches would bug me. Then I came across your videos on July luggage and was impressed how well your case held up in a street abuse test ☺️.
So, now trying to decide between the regular carry on and the trunk carry on. I'm loving the red (but wish it were matte). My dad was passed away many moons ago was born in July (garnet birthstone). It would be a sentimental gesture he's a part of my travels (having "July" logo).
Anywho... wondering if the trunk is worth the cost and weight difference vs the regular carry on for domestic travel? Thoughts?
I think if I could only have *one* July bag, it would be the carry on essential. There are two “regular” carry ons, one with bumpers and a battery, and one without (essential) so it has the same packing space, durability, but is less expensive and lighter weight.
The trunk is fabulous, but as I’m traveling now with a luggage weight restriction, it could run into some problems on airlines across the world.

I don’t own the glossy one but I have other glossy luggage and I wouldn’t personally recommend it. Very easy to scratch and scuff.
Weight wise when filled up is July's carry on or Monos better? Which one is lighter when filled up? I've been trying to go from checked bag to carry on traveling and have been going back and forth for both but love the July's durability but just concerned about the weight once filled!
The monos is a little smaller and lighter, so I’d imagine that would weigh less when full. But I’m filming an in depth comparison tomorrow, to release soon. I will compare every detail, and pack them

The aluminum frames make them waterproof, yes, it seals together seamlessly

How does the July trunk compare to the new Level 8 Freeloop? Thanks
July is going to be pretty indestructible, the freeloop has a glossy finish, which is known to scuff and scratch, and you would want to use the luggage cover. And July has a better warranty. But the price difference is huge.
My issue with trunk carry-on is no one makes them in the plus size, it's always 21.5 x 14.5 x 9. Zipper carry-ons get to 23 x 16.5 x 10.5 and still fits in overhead bins on the side
Monos has a hybrid carry on plus :)

Yes! It’s 45 linear inches, which is what most airlines allow. It only depends on weight

Why Don’t You Use the Compression ones??
@dawncrossland3028 you can’t fit as much in, and I don’t like when it compresses the air out. It makes the cubes very dense and hard, vs soft and squishy, and often leaves the clothes wrinkled.
If I needed a new bag that would be the one, but alas I don't. Saw on the live you are going to SA. I lived there from 74-78, my mama lived there from 74 to the mid-80s and Daddy was there from 74 to 2000. There was no tourism there yet so it was a totally different country. Just make sure you cover your arms and legs and be respectful to their customs.

That packing video will have looks that cover arms/knees and full coverage to wrists ankles and head :)
A few things. I wanted to buy this, but if you go to reviews, the non matte, shiny colors scratch and do get damaged. And after flying to Thailand needing 7kg on all the flights, this weight would never fly! Almost 2 pounds more than the website! Lastly, Bangkok's airport will throw your power banks away if they don't list the mAh on them or if 32,000 and over. Does anyone know if the power bank states somewhere on it what the mAh is? I think these technicalities rule it out for me BUT I LOVE THE BROWN MATTE

I’m going to basically go through all of the differences and pack them both, and let everyone decide. For example, I like the latches better on this one, and the super hardcore shell, but dislike the battery and it’s $100 more.

Yup. The integrated charger is totally obsolete and should be removed. It's more of a gimmick than anything useful. Just carry one in your purse/sling. Away Travel did away with it. Good riddens. Great review.
