    Great interview. I sold a whole expensive (for me) setup. Came back 5 years later with strict rules to keep the cost down. I spent 1/3rd the amount on a new setup and I'm way more happy.
    I've got the Mojo 2 in a desktop headphone setup (power conditioning, streamer, dac, amp etc). I didn't buy the Mojo 2 for the EQ, but the EQ is that good I don't want another DAC without one. I spent 3 times more on a dedicated desktop DAC and preferred the Mojo 2. The EQ is really good. Being able to EQ the DAC for sound rather than the preamp/amp/cables is a big deal. I've never wanted to use any EQ at all, being a purist and believing you should just get the right equipment in the first place. Well, I never managed that. After years and years, I now believe, getting the equipment the best you possibly can, then that tiny bit of very high quality lossless EQ is a brilliant solution. The EQ is so good I hope this will be a part of all new DAC products from Chord, honestly I think they'd be silly not to include it. I'm waiting on an EQable Qutest or EQable TT3. Until then I'm perfectly happy and I've learnt the same lesson once again- spending more doesn't always get you something you prefer in the audio world.

      I used to have a Chord Hugo TT2 & Mscaler, sold it at the end of last year because needed the money. I bought a low-cost Topping E70V/A90D stack to fill the gap, but also came across a Mojo 2.... and I absolutely adore this thing! It was just better than the Topping stack in terms of SQ, had a ton of power and much smaller. Sold the Topping stack and now just have this amazing device which has everything I need in the palm of my hand, without all the interconnects and power cables.

      Absolutely. Whilst some might prefer the plug-n-play ease of use, I think anyone who's after the absolute best would use either of the following software: HQPlayer or PGGB.

      You'd never achieve the low noise floor in a box full of circuits.

    • @MistaLova-Lova
      @MistaLova-Lova ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lwwells It's a valid point. One needs to remember that going this "custom" route involves the need to address other issues such as noise and jitter, so a good DDC might be required (Chord devices measure really well for jitter performance).

    Rob are you ever going to charge NORMAL, yes NORMAL!!! prices for your equipment.... 13000 euro for a Dave, 6000 for a tt2? really?
    And what makes it worse, his sad stories about how he could not afford hifi when he was young, so he started diy, and now charging 13000 for a dac… who are you fooling, seriously?

    • @k-doggy1762
      @k-doggy1762 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well he's in charge of designing the DACs not pricing them. His experience certainly doesn't come cheap. What are you expecting him to do, ask for a pay cut? P.S. The Mojo 2 currently sells for less than £400 and is good enough for most people. Nobody is forcing you to go for a DAVE.

      You are missing the point, in a interview with the owner, they were talking about how poor he was and he could not effort the real high end hifi, then charging 13000 for a dac is discusting. Then don’t play the I was so poor card, that’s just sad. The same would be like I couldn’t effort food but now I am making it myself and charge even more for it. I see other companies charging a lot, but they don’t play the boehoe I am so poor card!!!

      If you want the best quality of most things it usually comes with a premium price tag, I have never regretted the big fork out for my DAVE , I worked long hours , no holidays no car no fancy meals out , and it paid big dividends when I set it up , clearly the DAVE aint for everyone , but for those it appeals to the reward is great .

      @@Cestmoi50 If you check the Companies House website it shows the owner of Chord Electronics is John Franks. The interview was with Rob Watts, he's just an employee, although I saw somewhere that's he's actually a self employed consultant/ chief designer, obviously he has no control over pricing but agree it does seem expensive, however usually the market decides pricing. If something is overpriced it tends not to sell, so that company is forced to lower prices.
