I feel like one of the unsung heroes of the Saturn is definitely Lunacy. Amazing atmosphere, music, characters, and story. Even if you only watch a playthrough, its so worth it. One of the most charming games I’ve ever played.
Great video, The Saturn for me was like a unicorn. I never knew anyone that had it, I saw ads but, almost never got to see one at the store. Might have been covered in glittered and have a horn.
Cheers man 👍 It's strange, even though the PlayStation was clearly the number one console at the time by a considerable amount, most people I knew eventually ended up with a Saturn.
yeah growing up never saw one. GOt one when I started collecting in 2007 ordered off ebay games were nuts but well PDS was $16o back then! now I see saturns in stores all the time and its so popular!
30 years already, Omg we are getting old 😂 Never had a Satin Back in the day, Must have been Amazing to play DAYTONA at home When most of us would have to wait for the summer holidays to come round to play in the arcade 😂 It's certainly is a great system That most of us PlayStation boys didn't appreciate back then, Fantastic memories and a great video mate
I feel as old as Cranky Kong after making this😂 I didn't get hold of a PlayStation until the slim version came down to £99 and that was mainly so I could play the English version of Grandia. But then I discovered all the cool JRPG's on the PlayStation just in time for the Saturn to being discontinued in the UK.
Some good titles in there, Notts, but biggest surprise is how much you ALSO enjoy the Dreamcast! Most people don’t, but I also love that system (during its short time)!
The Dreamcast was so ahead of it's time that people just didnt realise it. Still my 2nd favourite console of all time. Sega are sleeping on some great ip's from the Dreamcast era.
Saturn is one of my favorites. It was the generation that I stopped selling/ trading. I have kept all games and hardware since then. I have most of the top 10 games.
Loved the video! I won't tell my personal history with the console as it would be a loooong comment. Let's just say that this was the most influential console we had at home, followed by the PS1 we got years later. Love both consoles but the Saturn just has the most firsts of that generation for me and my brothers.
My Saturn story began very similar to yours. I bought my Saturn from my local game shop in late September 1995 when I was 14 after working in my dad’s shop for the entire 6 weeks holidays to pay for it. I had it for 3 days until it completely stopped working, it would power up but no picture and the CD wouldn’t spin, so I took it back and the shop tested it and confirmed it was dead but they didn’t have any more in stock so I waited for a week or two but none came in so he offered me a PlayStation with a couple of games in exchange as he had just taken delivery of a batch of them so I took it and enjoyed it thoroughly and I still have that very PlayStation to this day boxed up in the attic. However almost exactly a year later I got a Saturn off my mum for my Birthday because the price had dropped significantly and that came with Daytona USA, Sega Rally and Panzer Dragoon. Regrettably I sold that in 2016 because I was skint and needed the money.
A great list of games!!! I’ve never owned one but I’ve since played a bunch via emulation or modern ports! I’ve got Exhumed/Power Slave sitting in steam waiting to be played 😂 I played Nights for the first time a couple of years ago and initially I struggled until it clicked that I need to play it like an arcade game. After that I had loads of fun and came back to it last Christmas for that mode again! Currently playing the Wii sequel 😊
I couldn't get in with the Wii version. I remember the cutscenes being unskippable in places, but the gameplay being quite rock solid. I need to cracking with some Christmas Nights practice to see if I can beat last years high score.
Sega Saturn, such a truly amazing console, so glad that I chose the Saturn over the PS1 back in the day. The Panzer Dragoon series alone is a huge reason to not miss out on this machine. I finally got around to having my PAL MK1 Saturn restored and got a switchless region mod for 60hz and most importantly the Japanese library!
Panzer Dragoon is one for the few games from the 32bit generation thats aged like a fine wine. It's just a shame that the recent remake couldnt recapture the magic of the orginal.
Loved this one Rob. Great, in particular, to hear about your memories of the system from day 1. Albeit that week of waiting for a replacement console must have felt like forever. Top stuff 😊👍🕹️
Street Fighter, Super Mario All Stars and Donkey Kong on Super Nintendo. Along came PlayStation with games like Die Hard, Driver and Metal Gear Solid. New games burnt on an illegal disc weekly .. Those were the days. Renting games at Shell petrol stations for small change, compared to prices for unfinished Cloud games in this day and age 😢
Car boot copys were all the rage when I was a teenager too. You couldn't go to one without seeing atleast 2 or 3 people selling bunt PlayStation discs and bootleg famicon games.
Great video for my favourite console of all time. Favourite memories for the system? Dragon Ball Z that was at that time exploding in Portugal but above all, Deep Fear, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and my favourite of all time: Panzer Dragoon Saga. The Saturn is more than a console, it is a gaming philosophy and it is still gives a lot of joy.
Problems with Saturn at the start must have been awful the rotten turds,i jumped on Saturn import i think we got a couple of weeks after Japanese release, loved your stories and your love for the Saturn, your consoles look awesome 👊🏻
Oh mate, I was so gutted having to wait those few days for the replacement. It felt like a lifetime to teenage me. I remember having just a little taste of the new 32bit games and then going back to Starwing for a few days wishing it was Panzer Dragoon.
Ah excellent video an memories buddy, big pitty your first console was faulty, never played a Sega Saturn an only dabbled with Dreamcast on Code Veronica👁. I was mostly a PlayStation boyo in that era.🎮🍀
Not on your list but some more obvious choices: Virtua Cop 1 and 2, Guardian Heroes, and Die Hard Arcade. Everyone had a PlayStation and loads of the same games that everyone had played. I was the kid (teenager actually) with a Saturn and the more unusual games kept bringing people to my house. I've got a Satiator and a Saroo now. The old console does come out every once in a while, alongside a modded GC which was thoroughly abused during pre-drinking sessions with Mario Kart: DD and Mario Party 5 while I was an undergrad. I was always a Sega fan first. Both still going strong.
Oh yes the saturn has too many great games to mention. I just went over the ones that I vividly remember and still to this day I'm finding g even more great games for the saturn.
The game has 4 tracks all together. If you finish 1st in the championship, the 4th course Lakeside will unlock. I remember trying this over and over again until I knew the game inside out. If you beat Lakeside in 1st place, you can also unlock another car.
I'd say your best bet nowadays would probably be eBay. I modded my own childhood systems a few years back, so I haven't really looked into buying one pre modded.
Shining Force 3 Burning Rangers Street fighter alpha 2 Nights into Dreams Last Bronx Loaded Steep slope sliders Wipeout Virtua cop Fighting vipers I should never have sold my Saturn.
After eight glorious years with SEGA, the $400 Saturn (with no games!) and changing, confusing roadmap was where I dropped off. Frankly, more than two-thirds of the launch titles could play just fine on a Sega CD, and 70-80% could've managed demakes on the 32X CD. To stay up with SEGA hardware from 1989-1999 would've cost you about $2,000 without games nor controllers... almost 5 grand in today's dollars!

I stopped trading games in not long after the Dreamcast dropped. When I realised I still wanted to play the older games again.
Hey man, great to see so much positivity a genuiness in your videos. Only discovered you today, but already a fan. Keep up the great work!
Wow thanks, I really appreciate that!

Still got mine!

Have you tried Night Striker S? I think you'd like it. Great video, glad I found your channel. Love youŕ style
I've not heard of that one but I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the kind words and sub 👍

@@NottsGamer true, cool but man thats going to be hard.
Astronomical price on terranigma for sure
The one game I seriously regret parting with.
Where can I find a moded Sega Saturn?
I'd say your best bet nowadays would probably be eBay. I modded my own childhood systems a few years back, so I haven't really looked into buying one pre modded.
Shining Force 3
Burning Rangers
Street fighter alpha 2
Nights into Dreams
Last Bronx
Loaded
Steep slope sliders
Wipeout
Virtua cop
Fighting vipers
I should never have sold my Saturn.
I kept mine. Have all those except Steep Slope Sliders. Yeah I always regretted selling my old systems. Saturn got me to keep them.
I have a belly button
