Her voice reminds me a lot of Whitney Houston's in this performance. Very rich, very smooth, very powerful. Like a young Whitney, before her voice darkened even more.

She should have allowed the audience after the climax in the end the time to grasp the moment and live it through. Literally speaking, the time for them to respond emotionally and physically (clapping) before she started to say anything. She should have just enjoyed their response but, instead, cut in.
Asian TV awards is telecasted live and she has a next song to sing so she doesn’t have enough time to do that.

Thank you for doing this reaction and analysis. Can you do one of Il Volo, maybe of Grande Amore or their new Sanremo song Musica Che Resta? I'm curious to know what a voice coach who works in opera would say about their performance.
Beautiful rendition. I would like to suggest a recorded performance of this song from the seventies by Melissa Manchester. Unfortunately due to the time it was recorded, live performance was not so easily available as it is today and what video does exist isn’t so good a quality. Having said that, I think it would be entertaining for you and your followers to hear the difference in style. Mellissa Manchester performs the song big yet with subtle contrasts when appropriate to the story of the song. One of the best with no vocal tricks just big voice. While you may not be able to see this performance, it is well worth listening as we did back then, after all, a song is a story told by singing and even today, we listen to a song way more than we watch it. Please give it a spin, I think your students will gain from this approach as well. I feel that there is a lot of attention given to who can out trick the other singers vocal tricks and therefore so many singers sound very similar. Very little story telling took place in this performance and therefore I didn’t feel moved emotionally. Some of the greatest vocal performances that created some of the biggest hits came from a voice that one might easily conclude is not among the most perfect of voices while some of the most technically perfect voices never wrote a song our.produced a hit record. Of coarse it goes without saying that a combination of the the two produces the exceptional such as, Lara Fabian, Dimash, Piet Arion, Barbra, Whitney and many more, They can all sing the phone book and have our ear. I hope you don’t mind my opinion in this, I just feel that students need to learn to tell the story, not just sing notes in a fancy way. Putting those two together makes a singer with a timeless component.

Not even close to Eva Cassidy's version (IMO). Way too much belting and riffs. Turns it into a screaming song. It's a song about dreaming and hope (IMO).
