High porosity hair is having your hair dry out on your before you even finish styling 😑 this has been my struggle after relaxers. I've been natural for 4 years and still getting used to my new texture/porosity. The spray bottle is my best friend!!!
My mom did relaxers on me from the ages of 6 to 11! 😱 my hair is high porosity and has been for so long. Tell you what though, my hair has been doing soooo well with coconut oil and avocado oil too.
High porosity hair is such a struggle and I feel like most youtubers are all low porosity or they don’t know. Everyone works on hair type but everyone has a different definition for each type I feel like porosity matters way more.
Lydia Tefera yeah like I’ll watch a ytber who says they have 4a but watch another one with the same type who says they’re a 4c or a 3c like it’s too confusing and doesn’t really help tbh
... This is me, even during winter. 😂 It actually is though, it really world for me. I used to have bacne and pimples on my face until I accidentally started taking cold showers. The geyser broke and only got fixed after 3 weeks, during the three weeks I noticed my skin was getting better.
I love youtube! At 40yrs old, never knew anything about high/low porosity. Wish I would of known this in high school, I would of been rocking my natural. So glad I found your video!!!! Thank youuuu!
I have high porosity hair and find that heavy butters are a no, no for me. If I were to seal with a heavy butter on wash day my hair will not be able to absorb anything else throughout the week. I made that mistake and had to wash my hair mid week to get rid of the residue. Vegetable Glycerine and Rhassoul Clay has been a game changer plus I do the Greenhouse method which keeps my hair hydrated throughout the day. I no longer wash my hair weekly just so my hair can maintain moisture for longer.
Adding to my favorites and watch later. Thanks. Also from one woman to another. Your skin is beautiful, color and tone! Keep doing your thing! So is hair. It's popping!
What would your recommend for high porosity hair that hates oils? I've been using leave ins but every time i use oils my hair becomes frizzy with no definition and if it touched in the slightest it just falls apart.
The only thing that actually maintains moisture for me is using a concoction I came up with - body lotion mixed with glycerin. I apply it to wet hair, detangle and then scrunch up the curls to get the pattern how I like it. Air dry and you're good to go. This doesn't feel heavy or greasy and it keeps friz at bay for the day. I have high porosity color and heat damaged 3C hair and this is the only thing that works perfectly for me. Try it out and see how it works for you.
my hair is extremely high porosity!! like when im in the shower my hair does not get weighed down. it has so much volume soooo its a struggle. thank u for this i really needed this....maybe a hair routine for high porosity hair
My hair is high porosity *but* fine and low density, too. So I can't use any heavy stylers or grow it out too long =( I did a gelatin protein treatment, and it worked out great, but I don't know where to go from here *sigh*
Omg this is exactly me, I know you commented a while back but I just found this video. I have high porosity fine hair and can’t use heavy products because it’ll weight down my fine hair but if I use lightweight products it doesn’t feel I have put anything in my hair and it’s dry within a couple hours… did you ever figure out a routine that works great for you?
I just did my moisturize technique using nothing but olive oil. I use a light anount Jamaican black castor oil after I condition my hair .. I can def tell a difference. I just need to get me more cream.
I am not 4C so I have to start light with jojoba oil for 3 days with Kristen Ess air drying cream, then coconut and shea butter creamcream of nature pure honey
I found out today that I have high Porosity hair and I can finally understand why my hair ends up being super dry and how my hair is able to maintain moisture well but I definitely need to invest in doing a hair treatment I enjoyed seeing this video thank you 💕
I have high porosity and I also find that the LCO method works best. Aussie has a really good avocado intense/ hydration sealing oil I use after my leave in and cream plus if you choose to blow dry and silk press it doesn’t weigh your hair down
Rym A I would say try to find a lighter oil that works with your hair. You're probably going to have to replenish the moisture at some point during the week so go for something that's not going to weigh your hair down.
Not sure if you found a solution...but I have high porosity, fine but dense hair and I can’t use heavy products either. My hair loves Kinky Curly Knot Today as a leave in, almond oil which is light, and gels work better for me. Glycerin is NOT my friend in a styler (I live in a humid climate) so I found Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Stimulator and Jessicurl Spiralicious gels are good for me. I’ve never had luck with creams, even lighter ones. I’m guessing because they usually have glycerin, but maybe you can tolerate a lighter one.
Its so good to see all these high porosity haired ladies, heeeeyyyyy lol. With my high porosity hair deep conditioners with protein is a MUST, if it doesn't have protein I can't use it, it will feel like I didn't even deep condition😒 camille rose products are AMAZING feels my hair so soft and moisturized for dayzzz. I don't use oil on my hair because its already oils in the products I use, plus I have fine strands so adding oil would probably weigh my hair down. The bask and bloom products are good too.
Thanks for this info. I am a new subscriber and I was wondering if you have any gel recommendations for high porosity hair. My hair hates glycerin so it has to be really low on the ingredients for me to even purchase a product
im high porosity hair but for some reason i used a protein treatment and my hair got so dry and brittle i think i got a protein overload sooo ever since then i havent used a protein treatment... do all high porosity hair ppl need protein treatments or can there be ppl that get protein overloads
How often do you recommend using the high porosity Shea Moisture masque? I have been using it for a month once a week. My hair loves it. But I don't want to over use it. Is once a week okay?
I think once a week is okay if you Hair can tolerate it! I’m not a professional but you may want to consider using a moisturizing deep conditioner and alternating that maybe once a month but definitely check with your hair stylist the next time you have an appointment because they’ll actually be able to see and feel your curls
Im confused now.. i have high prosperity hair but my stylist told me to stop using heavy oils because my hair is too thin and it breaks it. She is right tho.. so idk what to do at the point.
hair density can also determine which products are best for your hair so I’d say listen to your stylist and their advice. Especially because they have seen your hair
My facial skin is oily and using oils on my hair can be very problematic for my face. My hair has high porosity so what can I use that will give the benefits of oils?😔
Maybe incorporate it in your deep conditioning routine! That way you won’t have to keep it on your hair for and extended period of time. And maybe using an oil spray might help as well that way you’re only putting it on the areas of your hair that need it. Also make sure you are tying up your hair when you’re at home so it’s not laying on your face. I hope that kinda helps!
Tanya Lee I know this is old, but consider oil cleasning every night. I have extremely oily skin and since I've been oil cleansing my face isn't oily like it would normally be. I also don't have to check my face throughout the day anymore to blot it. Coconut oil and tea tree mixed together.
How should i use the replenish Dc,the shea moisture high porosity mask...should i use like every weak???im missin my hair,im high po, i know i need protein but i dont know hoe often should i use a protein mask,i wash my hair every 7 to 10 days,& i dont do a protein mask every weak,in one a do moisture mask then the next week a follow with a nutrition mask then the next after i follow with a protein mask, then reapet all over,am i doing ot right???should i forget the moisture mask??how often should i use a protein mask???can i use like every week, only changin for a heavy protein mask??please help im messim w/my hair i dont know what to do
The Problem that i face is that i have a curl pattern 2b/2c so when i use very heavy leave ins it will make my waves even longer and looser ...what should i do :/ i def have high porosity my hair does soak the heavy leave ins i have used befor. Plus i have been using deep conditioners instead of normal conditioner but just found out that it has silikones and what not -.-"
I really feel as though I have high porosity hair. Still researching, but I'm about 80% sure. If anyone have watched my videos, maybe you can help me determine. lol!
I have fine hair yet extremely high porosity hair and am still trying to find the magic formula (hence why I’m on this video) but I have found great results by using the Cantu Coconut cream (as shown in video) on my wet hair and sealing it while wet with Africa’s Best [Herbal Afro Super] Hair & Scalp Conditioner or Castor Oil Hair & Scalp Conditioner. This combo helps define the curl while also sealing in the moisture. Just something to consider in your regimen.
Omg ur a life sever omg now I no I thought I was going crazy with my hair I just couldn’t understand y it was drying out so fast after all the oils I put in ok 👌🏽 thanks girl
So I have a question about hair porosity, I just tried to find out my hair porosity but putting a strand of hair in water and waited for 5 minutes... at 3 minutes parts of my hair strand was floating to the top but when I lightly touched my strand it went down to the bottom automatically, does that consider me as a high hair porosity girl?
Thank you so much for the helpful tips. Where do you recommend I should put the oil? After what product? This is what I normally use: leave in, créeme, soufflé and then gel (non paraben, sulfate or silicone) .
i’m not sure who’s video it was I watched this past week I think it was Halfrican Beauty that said for high porosity hair you should do leave in, oil, and then cream so you’re doing moisture, sealing in the moisture and then just adding extra moisture on top of it so maybe you can try that. i’m going to start that on my HiPo hair
I have high porosity hair and i mixed coconut oil , olive oil , jojoba oil , castor oil and argan oil together for my hair. Is it good if i have high porosity hair?

My problem is my hair drying and frizzing the moment I step outside
It takes forever to dry when I'm in the house and finished adding products.
High porosity hair is such a struggle and I feel like most youtubers are all low porosity or they don’t know. Everyone works on hair type but everyone has a different definition for each type I feel like porosity matters way more.
You make a good point!
I agree and I’m a hijabi so my hijab soaks up a lot of the moisture from my hair.
Lydia Tefera yeah like I’ll watch a ytber who says they have 4a but watch another one with the same type who says they’re a 4c or a 3c like it’s too confusing and doesn’t really help tbh
Aicha Sangare Omg sameeeeeee and then having to put my hair in a bun everyday my curls get so stretched oht
WrapFiqah I agree. Porosity she be focused on more.
Drenched my hair in heavy oils before bed for my overnight pre-poo treatment. Wake up the next day & hair feels like the oil never even happened.
That's what I been saying 😂😂
is that good or bad
@@malachi.04 Bad
Some oils are penetrating oils others a sealing oils.

Same i used shea butter and my hair hated it
Same here
Heavy butters don;t suit my hair either.
what's the greenhouse method???
As a high porosity natural I agree with the cool water at the end of washing hair, also the LCO method works the best.
The best thing I did for myself 😭
I love this. I think I have high porosity because mines always dry and frizzy. Thanks x
You’re welcome! ❤️
I have high porosity hair and I will be definitely using all of these tips. So thank you for all of this.

I just found out today that mine is high porosity , have you found some products that work for you ?
I have to Moisturize my hair everyday. It’s exhausting. The main choice ancient Egyptian line leave in is great though
I have high porosity and I also find that the LCO method works best. Aussie has a really good avocado intense/ hydration sealing oil I use after my leave in and cream plus if you choose to blow dry and silk press it doesn’t weigh your hair down
The hight porosity needs heavy products but my hair is fine and thin so it will way it down honestly i don't know products that works for me
Hello :)! What if I have High Porosity Fine/Thin hair? Using heavy products will weigh them down :(
I would say use the products with a very light hand!
Rym A I would say try to find a lighter oil that works with your hair. You're probably going to have to replenish the moisture at some point during the week so go for something that's not going to weigh your hair down.

Yeah that can be pretty common :/
Yiu might have finer strands
Medium porosity over here. I wash on Sundays and Wednesdays and rinse with water only on Saturdays.

hair density can also determine which products are best for your hair so I’d say listen to your stylist and their advice. Especially because they have seen your hair
My problem is that every product weighs my hair down and like an hour after it’s tried, all my volume is gonna and my hair looks stringy and gross
Thank for the education but the LOC method is best
My hair has improved
Coconut Oil is penetrating. It is good but for sealing it will never compare to Castor Oil.
