I have a Henson AL-13 Mildand a Medium. Over time I have concluded that Mild works best for me, but as much as I drop the damned thing, the dings it's developing tell me that I need a much harder metal. So I'm getting a Ti-22 in Mild for a "the rest of my life, and then (hopefully) multiple generations down the line" razor. Thanks for helping me make that choice.

After watching I believe all your Henson Razor vids I decided to pull the trigger on the Henson Ti22+++. I also was able to pick up the 100ct of RK blades via your code 😊
It'll be my first safety razor and I wanted one with some upward mobility and use different blades to adjust. So hopefully I'm gonna be one and done, unless the Henson is the gateway to me becoming an enthusiast. Will be watching through all the beginner shaving tutorials now. Thanks for your advice! ❤

@ohioshaves, as usual, another great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products and techniques. I'm experimenting with 1 pass ATG shaves and am loving it. Less passes, less irritation, longer blade life in theory for less passes.

Good video. I use both the Rockwell and the Henson Titanium ++ and also a Feather AS - D2 sometimes. All give me good shaves and you are right when you say the angle is important. It is the difference between a good shave and no shave, especially with the Feather and the Henson. We're all different and so are the times we are going to have a shave, so I don't think we'll find a universal device. Until then, the search continues. I haven't found a razor that I've regretted buying except my Merkur Vision. There should be a warning saying that you should cease taking any anti-coagulation medication for a week prior to using it.

I have the alum HENSON and its in the more aggressive, But for some reason i have a time with it sticking when i shave with it. Like it is almost sticking to the skin and not sliding. I also have the PARKER variant in the bead blasted color and it seems to do the same thing as the HENSON. The only razor I have that does not seem to do that sticking is the VIKING razor I have. I just ordered the T2 in a chrome because a i think it is the finish on the razors.. I guess I will find out soon. The HENSON is my body shower razor currently

I bought a Rockwell T2. It was really cool, and worked well for a couple of shaves, but it never felt like it was a lifetime razor… and after a couple of months, it stopped closing correctly (I never dropped or handled it carelessly) where the hatch added a lot of resistance, and the aggressiveness differed A LOT between the two sides. I got it replaced with a Rockwell 6S about a year ago, and I absolutely love it. Unlike the T2, I feel confident that my 6S will survive me.

    • @OhioShaves

    • @PhatPazzo

@OhioShaves I guess so, I simply told the retailer about my issues and they took it back. They had a new T2 ready to go out, but I asked them to send me a 6S instead.
I do love that they are customizable, though. If I haven’t shaved in a few days, I’ll go for the 4 or 5, but then I swap to the 2 for the sideways shave. I find it a lot more comfortable than using the 4 for multiple passes.

It would come down to personal preference as both did well. I guess it would all come down to what all you shave as the T2 would be great for face shavers but the Henson would be great for head shavers. I would buy a variety pack of blades. Everyone’s face and skin tight is just a little different and they react differently to all the different blades. You can’t mess with a variety pack. Then you can go all in on the blades that you like.

I just wonna make a right choice right now. I'm newbie with wet shaving and my first razor is Gillette king C. I really like wet shaving, but i think that King C is too mild, i have a sensitive skin and have to make many passes to get BBS, which provides with razor burn, niks etc. So i think about more aggressive razor or just buy an adjustable. So now in my list is 6S, T2, R41... There is so many of them ffs😔.

The Henson does look good not gonna lie. Nice shave. I have the 2c and medium Henson and I must say I prefer the weight of the 2c but I like how easy it is to shave with the Henson. It's dummy proof (reason why I got it). The T2 is just a better looking razor and the adjustable feature makes it better. I like the matt finish just looks awesome. I just have to get a good soap to finally get everything. I am choosing between a tallow based and glycerin based soap. What would you recommend for someone with more sensitive skin?

Not sure what to do with this box or Personnas that are like shaving with broken glass. Tried them in my TRC stainless steel and it was even worse than in the Henson.

On point man. Both razors did a really nice job. When I first started looking I almost pulled the trigger on a Henson. I paused because I just didn't know enough about wet shaving and what other options there were. I was going off memory back in my early times and just remembered my father's adjustable butterfly. I binged watched your videos and some other research and as you know got the T2 Gunmetal. Now I have that curious itch to try a Henson just because everyone has great things to say. On the other hand winter is coming up so I'm in beard mode and contemplating the Twig for touch ups. I sort of been using the T2 for that so I might just go with the Henson.

I just switched to DE a few weeks ago after using a Philips OneBlade for years. It was ok, but it was more akin to trimming super short than shaving.
Now I'm using a Henson AL13 mild because it's pretty much foolproof. You have to actively try to cut yourself to get nicked.
Out of these two in the video, I think I'd stick with the brand I know and go for the Henson Ti22, even though I'm sure the Rockwell is very good as well.

I've only been doing head shaves for about 4 months, and I've never heard anyone say that the top of the head with the least hair is the hardest part, but it's so true! What little hair I have there is so sparse and fine that it wants to just lay down instead of standing up strong like the back and sides.
I want a Leaf because every head shaver raves about them so much, but for now I like a mild DE with a bead blast finish because I can control it a little better and feel things more than a polished razor. I always have an Injector loaded for when I miss those 7 hairs in the front. That blade is like my mom's car that only goes about 10 miles a week. It'll go from rust before wear and tear!

I still think the T2 is better because of the versatility. I understand that having the single setting of the Henson makes it easier for the manufacturer to finetune it and certainly the titanium makes an excellent material. However, I prefer having the choice. I am sure the Henson is better for someone new or as blindfold daily driver. No need to search for the angle. Still when you use the a sharp enough blade any de razor will do the job I think.
Anyway it was fun watching the "battle".

First of all, love your channel. New to DE razors and have learned most of what I have learned from your channel. Over the past few months I have purchased Henson Al13 in mild, medium, and aggressive. (Also purchased 5 more mild Al13s as gifts for friends). I then got the Ti22 mild, then a Leaf Twig, and just last week the Rockwell T2 in stainless steel. I am on vacation but have been doing some comparisons, so imagine my surprise when I saw your video that went up today when you were comparing the Rockwell T2 stainless steel with the Henson Ti22 mild with Personna blades. My comparison early this morning was the same set up, only used Personna Platinums, TOBS Tobacco Leaf, and Tree Nut vanilla bean pre-shave oil, and of course finishing with Thayer’s and Nivea sensitive cooling balm!
Really enjoying the Rockwell but still learning it. My favorite is still the Henson Ti22 mild, but maybe that will change with time and greater skill. Not a bad choice among anything I have tried so at your recommendation.
Thanks for all you do, and keep the fantastic content coming!

I think they’re both excellent razors. I like the adjustability of the T2, but the fact that the Ti22 doesn’t cut at the wrong angle is a great feature (for beginners and experiences shavers alike, you can never be too careful). In terms of looks, the Ti22 looks more beautiful in my opinion, but both are great looking razors.

It’s surprising to me that the hension + would be a 4 setting. Seems like it would be a bit less than that with how mild it is. Audibly the 4 setting sounded more aggressive. Seems like that would make any setting less than a 4 on the Rockwell pretty useless if it’s even more mild than the +.

I now have the T2SS, AL13 + and Ti22++. IMHO the mild equates to setting 3 on the T2 and the medium is about a 4. Setting 1 doesn't do anything ;-) However, the Henson just shaves differently. Either mild or medium its simply better at avoiding nicks and razor burn. I like the concept of the T2 for adjustability, but the Henson's are so good. The Ti is a work of art and with a Feather blade has given me the best shave I've ever had.

After having issues with blade alignment on a Rex Ambassador even after a warranty replacement I would go with the Henson as one of their main selling points is their tight tolerances. The issue was caused by the blade fitting loose on the alignment posts and for some reason it was only aligned if I pushed the blade over to the side of the razor that has the 3 on the adjustment dial so maybe the posts or the holes they go in were off center too. The issue is most obvious on the lowest setting and resulted in one side being drastically more aggressive than the other unless you got lucky with alignment or aligned it manually. Both the original one and the replacement had the same issue and batch numbers were S4 and T1 I believe but I'm sure basically all modern Ambassadors have this issue unless they changed something after I returned mine.
