Picked up a mild Ti22 to replace my mild AL13 and it is by far a much better razor. I think the heavier weight is what makes it give me a significantly better shave. Shave Nation had the cheapest out the door price with fast shipping too, so I got to support the channel while getting myself a nice gift. I highly recommend this razor.
On paper, the gaps are the exact same between the Ti and the AL, but is it true, maybe the Ti has a bigger gap, thus more blade feel? From pictures, the AL seems to have a much smaller gap and blade exposure.
From the person who brought you the coffee cup warmer for my shave nation bowl. I have found the best thing to clean the sink and my razor after use is a product from Home Depot--Rejuvenate Soap Scum Remover. I put some into a smaller sprayer and spray the water line of the sink before I drain the water. It also cleans the razor quickly. I have two + and one +++ Henson. My first version + gets loaned out to others and then I direct them to Shave Nation for products. Thank for all you do for the shaving community.
I have followed you for a long time, and I see you are more than satisfied with this razor. It is much better than AL13, I could see that you are not down with it, it was too mild.
I’m Very close to pulling the trigger on this Ti22. Not sure which option (mild, medium or aggressive) makes sense. I’m currently using a Rockwell T2 (generally at the 5 setting) which works well…perhaps a bit mild. What do you recommend regarding the Henson? Thanks.
Hey geo, whats your General Impression of the goodfellas smile soaps performance wise, compared to like stirling or even A&E or B&M ? Would you consider it a thirsty soap base?
When you said “it filled up” in regards to the the blade before reversing to the other side of the blade. Did you mean filled up with Shaving Soap? Or filled up with loose hair?
I have been listening to a podcast for months not relevant to Wet Shaving and they plug the hell out of these razors. I was going to order one but it occurred to me that they (the podcasters) weren't wet shavers and it would be a bad purchase given I have a million razors lol. I was actually going to ask if you would do a review and here it is. I was wondering if you noticed a difference in their blade as it's supposed to be a thin as a human hair. Does it do more than the traditional DE blade?
I would say the SK blades aren’t thinner than any other razor blade. As for their performance, I don’t care for them. I find them kind of rough, but your mileage may vary. My preferred blades are US made Personnas, Gillette Perma Sharps, and Bic Chrome Platinums for reference.
The Henson razors do get advertised way more than most other razors I've seen. The RK blade is similar to all other DE blades. It's not a reinvention of the DE blade.
My review is about the Aluminum AL-13 Mild and the TI-22 Medium. I started out with the Al-13 and liked it but wondered if upgrading to the a medium would be more efficient. The TI-22 sounded cool and the idea of it lasting forever was cool. I liked the quality idea of it and after reading a lot of reviews I decided to try it. I wanted to see if the weight would help with efficiency as I am a daily face shaver. After what felt like a long period of time I wondered if I should give up and sell the TI-22. I cut myself a lot and researched what would make it better for my face with less cuts. To say the least don't press into your face. Let it do the work. Key take aways I learned. Everyone's face is different and not every situation will work for everyone. So if you invested in a Henson you need to consider the following. Shave oil is okay but doesnt work as well as i'd like. A bar of dove soap works well alone or put cream or lotion on top of it. Rub it in well on the face. Also, try different blades. I bought 20 different brands. Astra, silver blue, wilkinsin, and personna are great. Switch blades out every 1 to 3 shaves. It all depends on your face and how course your hair is. I also have used cheap creams, cremo, and proraso cream. Use a small amount. I also bought a synthetic brush and a plastic bowl. Mix a spash of water with whatever you use and mix with brush. You don't want it to be too watery. Rub brush multiple ways on face. When it comes to shaving figure out which way your facial hair grows with facial hair mapping. This helped me a lot. Use short strokes shaving. Don't go all the way down your face like your cartidge blade. While shaving and a part of your face you haven't gotten to yet is kinda dry with cream, just mix your brush in the bowl and lather that dry spot again. Shave with the grain and then against or acrossthe grain. This won't work for everyone. Going against grain right away does not end well for me. So after reading all that, yes I thought I wasted my money on the TI-22 Medium. After several months of trying different methods written above, I am finally happy with The TI-22 medium. I get little to no cuts. It is more efficient than the mild. I have used both at sink and in shower. Be careful around the adams apple and stretch skin and go over slow. I get great shaves with both these razors. The AL-13 stays in the shower and the TI-22 stays by the sink on the Henson stand almost always. If I have more than a few days of growth (I have course hair) the TI-22 medium cut through it with efficiency. Rinse blade channel often. So when you're thinking about regretting your purchase just try some of the methods above. Yeah it costed me some money. I finally have an amazing shave. I was never able to shave against the grain with cartridges until now. Better shave than the cartidge blades once you figure out which method works best for your body. The AL-13 Mild is very forgiving on cuts as well. Check out Ohio Shaves and geofatboy on youtube. Maybe this will make more sense. Also, dont change your blade with a soapy hand. I had a slice right down my thumb. Anyway, I finally made it to great shave land!
@@Beefcake54 I bought the AL-13 v1 n Mild and Medium. I shave my head and face. I like how efficient the Medium is, but I'll stick with Mild for AL-13 and when buy a TI-22 v2 because Medium makes it way too easy for me to cut myself. Much cheaper to figure it out in aluminum, and then pull the trigger on titanium when you know for sure which works best for you. I expect that once I buy it, my Ti-22 Mild will last the rest of my life and then be passed down for several generations when I go.
They both shave identically. I’ve shaved with both & IMO titanium is a waste of money. IMO the Karve Overlander is a much better shaver. Your mileage may vary based on your skin & beard type.
@@billjohnsonseattle The aluminum and titanium may shave identically, but the aluminum will ding when you drop it and the titanium will not. These dings show through if you have any color other than aircraft aluminum for your razor, which I do regularly... so now my AL-13 has aluminum showing through black. That means the protective coating is not covering those spots. You may want to buy a titanium to prevent that, if Henson is the razor you choose for the rest of your life. That's why you would buy the titanium.

same situation. totally agree. ti22 mild over al13 mild if your budget allows. Almost like an endgame for me
Thanks very much for sharing you SN shopping experience and the shave result!

I got myself the Rockwell 6C for Christmas, i like the colours of the Henson's👍
The Rockwell 6C is a great razor - you will love it.

Interesting-Thanks for sharing. I use Dawn with hot water and a green scrubby pad and it cleans it right up. Does it also prevent buildup?
I like your emphasis on cleaning your razor. So important to its performance and longevity. Great video as always.
Take care of your tools... you know the rest!
Design of this RAZOR is beautiful
Love my Henson Ti22 Medium. Shaves like it's on Auto Pilot!
Nicely done!
Did you come from a mild?
@@Beefcake54no. AL13 medium version 1.
@JimiVPhotography just ordered the Ti 22 Medium. Sick of looking up videos and reviews.

Beautiful razor Geo. A little out of my price range. Have a great weekend. 👍🎅
Thanks William!
Thanks for the video!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you for commenting and all the best in 2024.
The intro is so similar to Iron Maiden's Stranger in a strange land!
On topic, I am trying to decide between a Henson AL13 or a Rockwell T2..
Glad you like it.
Great video !
Great video geo! A very solid razor it looks like. I did get the aluminum one,but it's too light for my taste. I stick with my R41
Aluminum or $250? What a choice!
thank you.
Best shaver on TH-cam💪🏼

I prefer the more aggressive version of most razors.
Hope to see you review the REX Sentry
Thanks for your request. They were unable to supply us with it.
Thanks for your review! Any chance of reviewing the Yates Winning Razor in the future?
My pleasure. I don't own that one but can look into it.
Very nice shave 🪒 Geo!
Thanks!
Another nice review Geo, hope you are you doing a xmas shave video ho ho ho!🎅🎄
A bit late that day, but I got there!
have you ever considered making your marvelous Shave Nation shave bowl (same selection of colors) in plastic ,for safety in wet environ
ment ?
Not plastic, but metal since it will retain heat and be durable. Coming soon!

Nice review. I may have missed it. What was your 1-10 aggressive rating?
