This unit is extraordinary. I have one. The touch screen is amazing looking in person, some of the stereo delays and stuff are so modern and expensive sounding, not all of them, but some of the sounds are really high end, like strymon-esque. The “studio reverb” he used is so expensive and lush sounding. Like a gate or something. This is NOT the multi effects you remember from back in the days, it’s more like a Helix quality, killer stereo patches. Maybe 10-15% of the patches were useless compared to other multi effects where like 85% of the, are bad. This is a useable, easy to navigate system and the sounds are just surprisingly great.
Awesome review Shane the channel just gets better and better and your playing is on fire! Both the NUX -MG 30 and this pedal are the same price and I would really value your opinion on which one you would go for as I am ready to drop my cash on one??
wow man channeling some warren haynes there great intro wasnt long enough ,that is one of the best play throughs i have heard from you and i been watching for 5 or 6 years, keep it up your sounding great these days.
I've played around with a couple of these affordable multi effects boxes. I have the Flamma 150. It's okay but requires a lot of tweaking. The original matribox really impressed me because there were a lot more usable tones right out of the box. The time based effects in it were really impressive particularly for only costing 100 bucks or whatever it was. Looks like they're keeping with the trend and offering a lot of value for money. Nice review.
Sonicake makes solid and affordable pedals. I have the Twiggy Blues and their Octaver and both do their jobs very well. Can't afford Fender's $2k modeller extraordinaire? This unot is 1/6th the price. 2 cons for me- no Bluetooth and the fact that there is already a ton of units out there. Excellent in depth review, Shane! WHat a machine for $300US. Incredible!
Suddenly every TH-cam guitar player became very exited about this unit after it was released. How many of them are paid or sponsored? Should I believe the hype?
Sonicake as a Hotone brand seems to be using the Ampero II as a base plataform for this unit. Do you think it has the same sounds? thanks for the video
This looks awesome-layout is extremely similar to the Mooer GE 250 (which I have), especially the back of the unit. Love the XLR outs. I actually dropped my GE 250 and it broke my big selector knob…still works but I’m unable to tweak settings on the fly anymore-only via USB/computer. I may have to pick one of these bad boys up because the mooer unit rocks but it’s pricier.
I trust your reviews. Ordered arriving tomorrow. Lots of pros but the decider was high impedance selectable for acoustic piezo pickups on my fiddle & guitar. I did consider the boss me90 but I wasn't really impressed with preamps, limitations, input impedance, or overall sound.
Regarding the looper it seems it has a pre and post mode and maybe you had it in pre so the sound of your recorded loop will change if you select another preset.
Actually I wound up purchasing the original one as well and running it through the effects loop of the MB-2. Is there anything better to run through the loop for 129 bucks ? Dual amps, effects and endless combnations now available 😀
Just once, I would like to see some real world demo,...on stage, hooked up the PA system,... live at a gig... sound recorded live from out front of the PA so we can gauge how it would really sound and work in that environment. Not through an amp...
Help me please In Stomp mode Can on/of mudule more than 1 module Ex. Crtl 1 stomp for on drive and on delay together. Crtl 2 stomp for on Reverb and drive same Crtl 1 but low gain more than Crtl 1
I think Sonicake should call this unit “The 1980s Ultimate Emulator “! I’ve been listening to a lot of Phil Collins and I hear a lot of those guitar tones in this unit. What do you think is the best out of these multi effect units? You’ve done plenty of deep dive videos on several units and I’d like to know your opinion on which ones you like best. 😎🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Hey can you help? I'm new to this. Do you have to have the unit on to download the firmware and software? Is there a special process? And which USB Asio driver do I need? Confusing
I just ordered mine after the exp pedal on my gp200 died, i shook my head in disbelief when you dragged in a second amp in the tutorial... $400aud and you have dual amps in signal chain!!! I cant see much hype apart from the reviews on youtube, people seem to be seriously sleeping on this pedal. IMO the amps sound much more convincing than my gp200.
As a player who at this point is just playing small bars, clubs parties etc I am still working out the best way to amplify the all in one modeling units LIVE? …In most situations the P.A. Is just not going to cut it. I have a Boss Gt-100 which is on of the older ones that came out the best way I have found now is to use an Orange solid state amp, pretty flat eq with the gain all the way down so I am only using the GT-100 preset, preamps , it sounds quite good but any suggestions on LIVE amplification?
Is it just me, or do all those overdriven presets sound the same? It certainly sounds as if the clean presets are, but we didn't get to hear many of them. The drum thing is all well and good, but is there a bass preset and looper, so you can build a normal sounding track. Many of the other multi-systems don't have anything with which you can make a convincing bass track, even though this is needed in order to make a realistic finished recording.
@@intheblues Yes I watched the whole video, and I see there is a looper, but every time I hear about one of these models based preamps, they never specify as to whether there is a good bass guitar sound to use when building a drum based practice sequence. I suspect this pedal is no different. Why does no one do this? Also, maybe I'm hearing your personal sculpting of patches, which will tend to be made by you and therefore similar. I'm listening through a Yamaha 5.1 amplifier through Electrovoice Interface 2 speakers for my left and right with the Yamaha subwoofer and rear speakers. My EV hi fi speakers are a two way system ,but include passive drivers for an authentic acoustic reproduction. I'll try listening again, but I've noticed this before on your videos... maybe it's just the way you tend to make your presets... ie it is not a criticism. The unaltered presets did sound a little different, but all had far too much gain for my taste.
Two comments.1. Don’t always wind the guitar volume down when you finish playing, I like to hear the noise floor. 2. Sometimes please let a note or chord sustain completely before muting. Thanks. Like your demos, of course.
my problem with all multieffects looper that after you recording ur rhytm part, you have to click to get back to ur pedals, play solo, then again go back to looper screen and u can just stop ur loop after these steps. Terrible for one man band scenarios
hi, i just got it im plugging into the lap and in the DAW it does appear as connected but it says the hardware its set up to midi or something and the app doesnt read it it says device not connected can you help me? please! and there is a function in the global settings says in out A.Gt or E Gt which one? what is that?
Hey guys, I'm looking for a unit at the moment. Can't decide which is best between this, nux mg30 or boss gx100. I'm interested with modulation, delay and reverb. I also like the boss md500, dd500 and rv500 but is it worth the price difference? Thanks :)
Nice, but so many of these things on the market, and the used market is filled with them for 100 dollars or so On Ebay. Vox Tonelab, the Zoom models, of course the Pod stuff. After owning a dozen of these things over the years, I don't even use the 2 I still have. I have the Boss Me80, nice unit, and an old Pod XT, not to mention Amplitube 5 max and rarely even use that. I now just put my Tube amp in my closet surrounded by packing blankets and a 57 and have a much better recorded sound than any of these boxes have ever given me. They are convenient if you are on vacation or need to play using headphones late at night, but even my old Pod XT is just fine for that. It will be interesting to see some comparisons with the other usual suspects as far as the sound goes. Good playing, by the way. I was enjoying the tasty phrasing.

@@intheblues👍 👍, i just bought the matribox II about 3 months ago and it's a great pedal i love it but now I want this one, let me know if you find out I appreciate it thanks
I love these pedals. So much power and great sounds at a good price. But when is somebody going to release control software for Linux? All we get is PC(windows) and Mac. Windows is ultra spyware and Mac is an expensive walled garden with overpriced everything. The funny thing is that the OS inside these units is Linux so there is no excuse just laziness. So I'll pass yet again on this offering. Maybe next time?
It was said to be $299 USD/EU in the press documents which is in-line with the price on the links I posted including Amazon DE, Sonicake's Global Site and many others. Check the links to the Sonicake Site in the description, it's correct.

A good, comprehensive and very lucid review. All killer no filler, as they say. Thanks.
Shane that intro jam track...you were ripping there...very 80's rock....blues tones. It's got it all!
There are a lot of these, but this is amazing value for money. Great playing in the jam!
