That's so subjective it's hard to say :) if you come to it from a piano background, the principal is easy but you have to get past the different technique first. If you come to it from a single line melody instrument it can be hard because you're not used to playing two different things with both hands. But some people just have an affinity for it. That said very simple things sound great, as do complicated things, and there's no "dying cat" phase like there is with violin or something. So it's a good first instrument for people if you have a good teacher or are very observant.
