    Oil and water don't mix so when adding water the oil (burning) just gets pushed away and spreads. Also A B C extinguishers will work on small kitchen fires but a cooking fire is actually a class K fire.

    Salt is a great absorber of heat for its volume. A moderate amount - about a cup - can help extinguish a decent size grease fire. Pour some in the pan and cover with a lid.

    Dry chemical, while perfectly suitable for residential kitchen fires, is not “designed” for kitchen grease. Wet chemical (50-60% water...) is actually designed for kitchen grease and required by code in commercial kitchens.

    @bauerman14 Well, I have tried that before, if you would like, you could go on my channel and look at my powder fire extinguisher video I made a while ago, it was a BC fire extinguisher used on an A fire, when Ii first sprayed it, it re-ignited, so you can see that I had to douse it again with the extingsuiher. It does make the fire go down, but it 80% will re-ignite. But it will most likely work if you use up most or all of the canister on the fire. So hope that helps!!

    I find it hard to believe that "any amount of water" would cause the rapid fire expansion. What if you dropped a few gallons onto that flaming pan all at once? I just don't see how the fire could cause all that water to become steam and then get ignited.

    • @raymondross123
      @raymondross123 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go ahead and heat some oil to normal cooking temperature and drop 3 single droplets of water from a pipet or a straw and see how much the oil reacts and images if it was on fire and those droplets flying everywhere were burning.

    It is absolutely terrible that you are telling people that an ABC FIRE EXTINGUISHER is good for grease fires! IT can work on small grease fires but not ones continued to be heated! I’m a firefighter get a TYPE K Extinguisher and if you ever have any questions or concerns about fire safety call your local fire department they would be more than glad to help you before an incident than after one! Don’t listen to these idiots who couldn’t do there research. What there saying is like saying a baseball bat is what you want for pounding nails into wood! Sure it will do it but wouldn’t you rather have a damn hammer??? Common News! This makes me furious because people trust what the news tells them to be 100% accurate! Someone could die trying to extinguish a grease fire with the wrong fire extinguisher and that could be on you guys! It’s your duty and responsibility to get the facts right especially when it comes down to safety! You should make a video acknowledging your mistake and correcting it for your viewers. That will be the day when the media admits there wrong!
