Probably the cleanest saw you worked on all month........ I tried to install these seals without an install tool and failed miserably. I did take my happy arse over to the lathe and make an install sleeve/tool after the second failed attempt.
Thanks great video. I’ve never seen anyone use a torque wrench on a seal. I’ve been looking at buying a set of seal tools. I see how you rolled instead of prying. Interesting to stop and listen. Almost a forgotten tool.
We had a run of 562 seals a while back. I just followed the workshop manual and thats what they wanted. Lucky for me I have an over priced snapon torque wrench 🙂
I sure hope the 562xp mark II brings builds back the sturdy life reputation Husqvarna saws used to have before the 500 series came out 13 yrs ago. And may the" new" bearing seal combo for the 550 mark II restores my faith in their durability.
Sounds like Chris is coming that way this week. Hes going to bring my mac770 for you to take a look at. By all means do a video and play with it some. I'll have my fancy sharpening job done on it as well.
Hello, I have a 562Xp which I pulled apart to change the seals. I watched your video and decided to try the repair myself. I did not have the plastic washer on my saw and don't see it in the parts diagram. My saw is a 2013. would the plastic washer be only on newer models? Thank you from a new subscriber.
The dealer portal parts diagram shows the washer. I don't know if they updated the diagram or if its always been there. You know, out of sight, out of mind.
I love your videos just a Husqvarna should be. That saw looked in pretty good condition did it have a leak? I am thinking about getting MKII 560/2 to semi-retire my 357. Do you think they will have fewer crankcase seal issues?
This is an older repair and there was a short run of 562's that had questionable seals. Don't ask me the serial numbers because I don't know. This customer bought eight saws and one of them started running fast at idle. Sure enough a pressure/vaccuum test showed a leaking crank seal. After fixing that saw the customer expressed the same concern you did so we updated the seals in the rest of their saws. Husqvarna flat rate for a crank seal on a two piece case is 4/10 of an hour.
Your excellent presentations could only be improved by indicating what the final cost would be for the work you have done. Pretty sure I'm not the only one interested in this.
As an employee I have had to agree to a few terms in order to be allowed to record this work while on the clock. One is that I don't reveal customer names without permission and another is discussing costs. Anyway, labor rates are all over the place depending on what part of the world you're in. Thanks for your input.
you replaced the bearing seals but did not perform a vacuum/pressure test before trying to start it? i know it should be theoretically not required since the seals are new but also, what said the seals needed to be replaced unless the saw was starting to get a vacuum leak?
You're absolutly right, it should have been tested after the fact. I'm surprised it took almost a year for someone to point that out...good for you. The seals were not leaking before the job. The customer heard there might be a problem with crank seals on this model and Husky even offered a new part number. He wanted it done so here we are.
Yes many interchange but I screwed up. I didn't mark part numbers on the tools. They were just in bags and eventually got all mixed up or they rolled out of the bags while in the toolbox. Yes, careless. These days I just grab whatever works to get the job done.

Have you ever refilled that Oregon Grease tool? Mine is low and have been thinking about it. Haven’t looked into it much.
Yes it can be refilled but try to keep air pockets out of it.
Thank you@@TheGreasyShopRag
good video and repair. I was wondering, do those crank seals leak oil and do they cause any compression issues in the saw? thanks Scott
If they are leaking then they are bad. The compression you measure above the piston isn't effected by crank seals.
@@TheGreasyShopRag Thank you that makes sense
Coincidentally, I think I just bought a knockoff set of those seal pullers off Amazon before I watched this video
Pretty simple tools. They should be fine.
How can you tell the crank seal needs replacement ?
We do a pressure/Vacuum test on the crankcase to see if they leak.

That seems a little steep for crank seals. Maybe they had a lot of diagnostic time.
