To anyone watching I think it was an error on his end which he’s human and it happens. But the torque spec IS NOT 23ft-lbs!!! You’ll break the plug it’s 23 NM!! Which is equivalent to 16.5-17ft lbs. Other than that good wrenching bro and great video!
Before he puts the first coil pack in, he does correctly say 23Nm. I'm shocked there hasn't been an edit. At least 1 guy broke his plug in the comments.
This was AMAZINGLY helpful. You were excellent in your descriptions and explanation of what needed to be done. I had a bad number 8 cylinder so I figured I would change to the Dinan ignition coils and bosh plugs. With your help it took me less than an hour. Keep up the great DIY videos!
I just did my One more thing I would check PCV valve hose make sure it’s not cracked or broken in half. In my case driver side PCV valve hose broke in half I ordered new one replaced and good to go 👍🏻
I’ve been looking everywhere for a video or diagram of the ignition coil and spark plug order. This a great video but I need the order because it’s misfiring on 3 cylinders
Aren't Eldor coils recommended due to unreliability of the Bosch? I see you have the newer crankcase vent pipes. Those should be pointed out to your viewers.
Very helpful video with all the necessary detail : I have a BMW F07 550i and this video helped to make changing the plugs and coils all very "straight-forward". ++++++.
This is awesome! I can definitely do this myself and save some money! Thank you for making a DIY on this! Also, could you use 1 step colder plus on a non-tuned motor? Would they improve efficiency at all?
I recently bought a 535i 2014 F10 and few people that I have talked to about regarding replacing the spark plugs also suggested replacing the ignition coils at the same time stating that the new spark plugs might overwork the old ignition coils. How true is that? And anyway is there a service interval on the ignition coils?
Hi Paul, while included in the kit, Mike did not use any grease on this DIY. These coils do not play nicely with it, especially if you overdo it. However, we recommend you watch our video on the coil-on plug setups, where we cover when and how to use the dielectric grease! th-cam.com/video/UhGRvZmpLqo/w-d-xo.html
@@fcpeuro I bought plugs and coils from you guys and did not use the grease when installing. My BMW 550i is now running very well! Thanks for the videos that do a VERY good job of explaining the process.
Awesome explanation of how to do this. My 2016 550 is in the shop now for a water pump replacement but they said I also need new plugs. Let’s see what BS price they give me. If it’s ridiculous at least I know I can change them myself. Thx!
I had a misfire on cylinders 4 and 5, I followed the steps to the letter and replaced all the spark plugs, then cylinders 2,3,4,5,6 had a misfire. Do you know what the problem is and do I need to replace all the coils, at least 3 of them are relatively new.
Hi there, typically coils all need to be replaced at the same time, if one fails, then inevitably the rest are going to follow suit; it is only a matter or time. More than likely disturbing the coils was enough to cause misfires.

So I should torque to 16lbs?
@ernestrodriguez4721 yes 16.5 or 17ft
Good catch. If you look at his digital readout shows it’s calibrated to NM, but the text on the screen shows FtLbs. Thanks for clarifying.

True he corrected himself a few seconds after.
Bro..... u saved me over 1300 bucks at the local BMW stealership here in the Sacramento area!! Thanks alot man for the great tutorial 👍
Very happy we could have been of some help with that, Michael!
These guys are terrific. I’ve been dealing with them all the way from Australia. Their customer services is terrific. Pricing is reasonable also.

I have the same number 8 misfire I just want to make sure before I start is it the right side all the way back
I watched a dozen other videos that made me not want to do it. This one is awesome and straightforward. Thank you
I just did my

Good point, Miki!
Where is that located under the hood

That is what we like to hear, Gerald!
@@fcpeuro hello very helpful quick question which 1 is cylinder 8
Great video . My question my new coil overs have metal exposed around them not covered in black .
Could you guys make a CV axle replacement video on this car? Need it for my f10 lol
We can certainly add it to the queue!

Can you do a valve stem seal and timing chain replacement on an n63tu please:)
So thankful videos like this exist
Thank you for watching, Oliver!

Spark plugs yes
Ignition coils don’t waste your money
Ignition coils work or don’t
Would you consider doing a DIY on a n63 longblock replacement? Using my car as the donor car?
Do you need to disconnect the battery when changing the coils ?
I did plugs ahead of my tune but did not do the coils. 25k miles on n63tu3. When are they suggested to be changed?
Kinda dumb question but would a coil pack cause a permanent code… I have a permanent code for cylinder 8 & 6
I have an F90 that’s about due for this kind of service. Great video!
Happy wrenching, Gerry!
Great video!
Just snapped my spark plug off inside the head trying to torque to 23ft lbs
No mention of using the grease pictured at the front end of the video. Would be nice to know if grease is recommended, and if so, how much?

Great DIY. You guys should do a brake change DIY for the F10 M5
Thanks, Alexander! We will certainly add it to our queue!
thank you my friend for your video.
😎
What size torque wrench do I need please????
For spark plugs, a low torque value 3/8" torque wrench should do the trick!
The beauty cover was removed to reduce engine temperature. Remove the mat on the hood also and you'll see 5°- 21° drop.
Nice tutorial!!
You say 23ftlb, then 23nm for the torque. It's 30nm +- 3nm for the M14x1.25 thread and 23nm +- 3nm for the M12x1.25 thread.
Are we sure it's 23 ft-lb's? You say 23 ft-lb, but it looks like your wrench says Nm.
What was it ? For torque
Yeah it’s definitely in NM which is 17 ft-lbs. Someone in the comments said they snapped a spark plug in half torquing it to 23ft lbs 🫠😬
Yeah Baby!!
Use delphi coils instead of bosch
I need somebody to tell me this is not as difficult as I’m making it out to be….
It's the easiest ignition service I've ever done. Never thought I would say that holes referencing a bmw
Where's the Baby Counter?👶👶👶
Petition to bring it back!
then you say 23 Nm.
It bad for a BMW V8
