      Jay is a billionaire and is by far the more developed car freak, and Adam is merely a multi-millionaire--but Adam has by far the more track time than Jay, and is more of a competitor, I would like to see them bring their fastest car to a track and I think Adam would hold his own very well at a racetrack.

    A new found respect for Adam Corolla, he is knowledgeable. That color is "Medium Metallic Blue" in GM speak. I had a 1990 Formula that after wet sanding and buffing garnered a huge amount of attention- it is a sharp color. A darker version showed up on the C6 ZO6, and I've seen two later TVR's that were close, but that "pop" is more prevalent on 60's sheet metal. There was a 64 Bel Air wagon that I helped with the 409 and M-21 swap that I would love to know what happened to (same color). For all of the cars I've worked on, I did not see that "A/C bracket mount" coming. Thanks for the video, makes me want to go back to the garage and fix things.

    Oh man! ...around 12:35 in the video is what makes that whole video wonderful. The sound of Jay, accelerating and revving that beast up to where it should go - glorious! (these engines are remarkably dependable) I will accept that - with a grain of salt -because they actually made it back without the thing breaking

    Just to correct you: Islero was the bull that killed Manolete, and not the other way around. Also the engine only has two valves pr. cylinder. The first production Lambo to have four valves pr. cylinder was the Countach 5000 QV :)

  • @MrRandomcommentguy
    @MrRandomcommentguy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    older versions of the Lamborghini V12 had four cams but still had two valves per cylinder, which was very typical Italian practice in the 60's and 70's.

    • @MrRandomcommentguy
      @MrRandomcommentguy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Simon Coles the number of camshafts has nothing to do with the numbers of valves per cylinder... I drive a Honda that has a single overhead camshaft but has four valves per cylinder. In general twin cam engines (or quad cam in the case of a V8 or V12 for instance) can rev higher and you can use different cam profiles on your inlet and exhaust valves to better control the way the engine breathes.

    Pirelli have recently re made the correct 205VR15 Cinturato CN72 that the Islero fitted originallly, which is a taller tye. This car is fitting 215/70VR15 P4000 (or 205/70VR15) tyres that didn't come out till the 80's. they are 70% profile tyres; low profile tyre technology didn't come out till 68, and Lamborghiini didn't move on to 70 profile tyres till the early 70's

  • @gtv6chuck
    @gtv6chuck 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Carolla knows his cars - he ran a vintage Toyota at the Monterey Historics last year. A customer of my mechanic sold his Islero for 35K about 10 years ago. If only I had the money to buy it at the time - it could've been my retirement fund!

    • @yakadee1
      @yakadee1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would have been much further ahead buying $35k of Apple stock 10 yrs ago. That would have a value of $735,000 today. Lamborghini Islero's like Adam's go for maybe $100k today. More for an S model and more for a pristine original restoration (which this car isn't). Plus, you have to keep pumping money into these cars to maintain them. Cars are generally not a great investment, but no doubt Jay's collection has gone up considerably in value.
      BTW, Adam raced an '88 Nissan at Monterey last year, not a Toyota. Adam is known for his love of Datsun/Nissan race cars and owns a few of each.

I find some common ground with Adam, but I cannot wrap my head around why he would buy these wonderful cars, and never drive them. They were meant to be driven. Sure, no daily driver this, but I would have to take these Lambo's out now and then.

    Similar to "Marina Blue". To be Italian the styling appears to be very reserved. Seems to be more "Twiggy" than "Sophia".....lol.. It also turns some relatively high RPM's in 5th. Would this be considered moreso City,or Town gearing versus Gran Touring ?
