This movie was one of my absolute favorites when I was a kid. Shaw was a very entertaining villain, the scenes with Boog and , and the final fight scene against the hunters was awesome. As an adult, I don't consider it as great as before, but it's still a decent first film for an animation studio, one that would eventually become one of the best.
After it being explained I understand why you choose this scene, I must admit I thought you were going to choose the scene of hide and seek from the hunter in the shack. Cause although it was mild for a kids movie they really made the hinter scarier than the bear in that scene.
Someone else already mentioned this, but I thought you were gonna talk about the scene where Boog is in Shaw’s cabin. But I can understand choosing this scene.
I remember liking this one a lot, AND its sequels, too. My dad, as a hunter, though, thought it was super stupid, but in a fun way, mostly, since he understood the hunter character was just a meme
Man, never once I thought Open Season had a scene that changed it. Hope to see Meet the Robinsons soon. Or maybe Zack Snyder's Justice League if possible.
Watched the movie the other day and still enjoyed, I didn't notice the little trick with the rain and pines, thought that was neat when you mentioned as well just breaking down the various camera shots and such.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but I love the fact that there was some timing and line breaking work done on the captions beyond simply just importing the script like is usually done. As someone who's a big supporter of accessibility, the effort is well appreciated by me, so thank you
I forgot about this movie, I thought Steve Harvey did the voice of the bear. Long comment sorry & going to get into some personal stuff, but I found you're channel a few weeks ago & subscribed, but in 2018 I was hit by a car & in the hospital for a few weeks it broke vertebra in my neck, cracked my skull & de-gloved my scalp, cracked my right shoulder blade almost in half & broke my left leg & shattered my ankle so now I can't work or get out much so I get lonely & bored, had to move back in with my parents & all we have is Direct TV there's never anything on so now I just watch TH-cam on my Xbox & talking to my therapist, my medication, weed & you're videos help with my loneliness & boredom & I just wanted to say thank you for that
I always thought the scene in shaw's cabin or Boog and Elliot talking about how they both are losers relating to each other or when Boog fought against Shaw
i saw this for the first time last week (kid's request) and fun fact i guess? i noticed Shaw the Hunter was using a Remington 760 GameMaster... the gun that shot MLK
The fact that I mistaken this video for a review of a movie about 2 bears annoying a dude chopping trees down really made me think that I chose the wrong video
I remember seeing this movie once That’s it, but it was in Spanish Since my parents are Latin American I remember seeing a scene that caught my little eyewear of the bear twerks I’m not making this up This is a real seen the movie And I think it’s an inspiration of The among ass I do not like the skunk designs They’re pretty hideous in my book We see a Scottish squirrel And I really like the French ducks I don’t know why I just really like ducks
I hate that people try to say that sony is only NOW after spiderverse trying to stylize animation when this movie... looks like THIS. They tried. It just didnt work at the time. You just didnt like it. Considering pixar had just found out how to animate humans properly a few years prior, they did good with the technology they had to work with and it doesnt look like anything at the time either. Its most likely the current state of the internet that helped spiderverse and rhe mitchells vs rhe machines reach the stylization hype they both got. And we dont have any comparison as sony doesnt animate animals very much anymore. But from both the recents films i mentioned, it looks nothing like those stylization gods at all. Not only that but the style of the backgrounds looks very similar to what we see in mitchells vs the machines on a larger scale and a lot earlier without any of the technology made for mitchells vs the machines. Plus the slap stick, jokes, plot, and emotional moments make a beautiful movie to watch. The style also is very entertainin for kids to watch. Sony had an audience and they leaned into it. And ill say it worked very well
Ugh, I'm still baffled that Sony actually greenlit a movie that has such idiotic premise. FFS, the very idea that a DOMESTIC animal would be just dropped in a random forest was idiotic even when I was a kid - how am I supposed to care for something that would never happen? I'm so glad they moved to actual, good movies.
@@wolfyre9836 It's called 'consistency' and has nothing to do with genre requiring animals to talk - I have no problem with animals talking, I have a problem with a movie that mainly revolves around a domestic animal being in danger in wilderness when they should never end up there. Shocker: I also have problems if a talking wolf eats berries and not meat. Not because they talk, but because there is a difference between animisation and idiocy.

I get where you are coming from. I thought he was gonna talk the scene where Boog was in Shaw’s cabin.
that scene really scared me as a kid, and it made Boog seem little and useless while being so scared of Shaw. I love that
@Big Hand yea it is a spooky scene to see as a kid they did make it scary enough without doing anything too jorrible
@Aralo Diamond yea it was a good scene because although Boog is a big scary brown bear, in this scene they don't half turn the tables
@@thediamonddragon1369 Boog was a bit out of his element there.

Proves that Shaw was the only good hunter
@@ultrajam6332 Shaw is quite the character
Yeah, for a animated talking animal movie, that scene is creepy AF.
@@jakedebruin2246 That’s fair.
I think we can all agree Shaw is a goated villian.
I loved this movie as a kid. I especially loved Elliot's design, I even had a plushy of him
Nice
aww
Fun fact: the actor who pays shaw (Gary Senice) was born on 17 March 1955, to today (18 March 2023) is the day after his 68th birthday

I’m feeling nostalgic already!

I remember liking the first Open Season and HATING the sequels 😂
Wow
To be honest the sequels are just forgettable.

Same. I still feel that way. The first movie was the only good one.
I loved these movies as a kid, mainly the second one. I think it was because the water park looked like a lot of fun.

I grew up with this movie, my parents fell asleep, I didn't. Honestly my favourite childhood movie.

Open Season is a national treasure.
Yes
With a title like this, I thought it would be about Shaws house. But this is nice
I honestly like Boog. He is a really likeable prontagonist/character even in TERRIBLE Open Season sequels

Also he has a pretty good character arc.
This was one of my favorites when I was younger, I'm not sure why exactly, but I loved it 😀
