Is this the COOLEST OUTBACK BBQ of Australia?! - UNIMOG Camping in the MURCHISON REGION (Eps.13)

- This week we take you exploring through the Murchison region. Our trip starts in Mullewa, where we head north on the Carnarvon-Mullewa road. As we cross the Murchison river on the Ballinyoo bridge, the free camp on the other side is too good to pass up and we decide to stay the night and have a fire.
The next day we pass through the Murchison settlement and head towards Errabiddy Bluff. Not only are the views amazing from up here, but the probably coolest Barbecue in Australia is right across from it. We had an awesome sunset barbeque session with the best view as well!
The next day, we decided to head further north and check out Bilung Pool. We met some other travelers coming down from Mt Augustus (which is on our list) and had a communal fire. After a swim and shower the next day we drove 10km down the road to the Wooramel river crossing and checked out the gorge. We camped here on top of the cliffs, with a stunning view for one night and had it all to ourselves.
We had heard so much about the polocrosse that was on at Murchison Settlement that we decided we had to check it out. It was a great experience as we had never seen it before and met some more awesome people along the way.
We then took the Butchers Track back to the coast. We still can't believe we had most of these places all to ourselves, even though it was the middle of school holidays.
These are all some of our favourite free camps around Australia and since there is no crowds it was pretty relaxing and just beautiful!

PS: We are trying to travel mostly on dirt roads and tracks, which makes it even more adventurous!

The Murchison is so underrated and beautiful. I'm glad you guys got to see it without any crowds. People just zip past it and that's really unfortunate, possibly because there little to no dump points nearby.
Yes, we originally planned on spending one night there and ended up staying almost a week! The Murchison settlement has public dump points, we dont really need them as we have a composting toilet 😉
I had the same problem with that bolt on the opposite side on my Mog. Something to look out for.
Locknuts. But we now put loctite on them as well😁
you guys should head into kalbarri and jump across the river atthe murchison house station and explore through there :)
That would be sick but we are already way too far away form Kalbarri. Maybe next time :P
Is there a roadhouse at Murchison
Yes the Murchison settlement has fuel, a small general store, dump point, public toilets, and a caravan park. Everything is reasonably priced and the caravan park is very quiet except for the one weekend the polocrosse is on 😉
Would you like to go camping in India?
For the foreseeable future we want to stay in Australia, but at some point we do want to take a unimog overseas :)
