To be fair though, he did require the wheelchair for injuries he sustained from getting out of the Shinra Building, but he's probably gotten better from that after two years. As you can see, it was still a very effective disguise; probably adopted after Tseng and Elena were captured and tortured, I'm guessing.

Filial Piety is one of the core concepts of Confucianism, itself one of the big three teachings of China (the others being Taoism and Buddhism), and in it, it places the value firmly on taking care of your elders and doing everything you can to honor them. Take, for example, the constant stereotype of the asian kids being smarter than anyone else. That's because, in order to honor your parents, it's expected of you to deliver constant top performances. I also read that in China, "I need to be a good son/daughter" is considered a near universal excuse why you can't stay at work (not all the time, naturally). Filial Piety is *serious* business to them. I'm pretty sure I got half of that wrong, so, in case an "expert" reads this, please don't be insulted.
