    Here's my theory on Daybreak II. I think Ys 10 Nordics was supposed to come out in 2022 in Japan. It was the 35th anniversary of the first Ys game, and it makes sense that Nordics would be an anniversary game. However, into development, Falcom decided Ys 10 wasn't going to happen in 2022. Perhaps building the game so that the Proud Nordic expansion could fit in necessitated some changes that caused delays. It makes sense, Falcom has never made a game designed to have a future expansion. My thinking is that Daybreak II was supposed to be a 2023 release, which also makes sense. At that point, Falcom had released Reverie and Daybreak I in 2020 and 2021, and Falcom has never released a Trails game 3 years in a row before. My hunch is that Daybreak II was more finished than Ys 10 was, so Falcom flipped the release dates. People who have played both Daybreak II and Kai no Kiseki say that Daybreak II makes more sense after you've played Kai, and the biggest complaint about Daybreak II is that it's another set-up game where not much happens.
    Being someone who works for a small business that's just a little bit smaller than Falcom is, I've seen first hand how completely chaotic small business decision making can be sometimes. It's not always planned out the best. This is just my theory.

      As someone who played Kuro 2 AND sadly saw major spoilers for Kai to a point I just gave up and watched a gameplay for the imoprtant areas (because it's annoying that if you search for a song, people keep spoiling final battles and cutscenes without any care in the fucking world), I can say that Kuro 2 makes a lot of sense, even before playing Kai.
      All the pieces are literally in front of you. The problem is that Kuro 2 incorporates an aspect to it's story that people get turned off immediatelly when it happens because it means the plot needs to be incredibly well written, but it also makes a lot of sense when you consider the major objects that always causes problems in the world of Zemuria, so I wasn't surprised when I saw it.
      I think Kuro 2 is impactfull, I think it has a way better story than Kuro 1, some small aspects of it made me angry or annoyed becasue it felt like it was an afterthought, but I won't ellaborate.
      kuro 2, is the prime example of: Do. Not. Hear. PEOPLE. Complaints. Play the game, and see if you enjoy it. Because I put Kuro 2 on my top 4 plots for the series.

    Quite excited to replay Daybreak 2 since its been two and a half years since i played the fan patch. The gameplay/ plentiful mini games is solely what im looking forward to since they really refined the systems from the first game

    I tend it give games that people dislike strongly s fair chance and they end up really enjoyable experiences for me. I'm expecting the same with this one.

    • @CommRio
      @CommRio  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      To me it’s entirely about expectations going into the game. I’ve had great experiences with games others have been disappointed with because I managed my expectations.

    I played Daybreak 2 with the Fanlation last year and it was really goddamn amazing personally. It’s a shame that most of the complaints feel like people who don’t care about what this series does well rather than being genuine. I’ve enjoyed basically every game despite any small issues I have here and there so to see a game get ripped to shreds for the sake of “objectivity” feels so antithetical to this series and I really hope those people stop playing this series with such a negative lens.

    • @Omnibus4Everyone
      @Omnibus4Everyone 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I wonder how bad it really is. Most games in the series have issues of some kind.
      I’ve been hyped for this game since it’s original Japanese trailer. Can’t wait to play, honestly.

      @@Omnibus4Everyone imo i can see a certain plot device becoming tiring but I feel that most of the complaints are really overblown. Especially when those complaints are not furthering the macro plot of this series as if that was ever a problem for a series that is about the fluff more first.

    • @daysofhalcyon
      @daysofhalcyon 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It’s not a bad game; it just goes back to the well with “a certain” plot device a few too many times during its latter hours a few too many times.
      The gameplay is definitively superior to DB1, and its middle act contains some unexpected answers to some longtime questions.

      I just try to avoid the fan base overall. I remember when it used to be Sky sucks it's slow and boring, skip the Third, then it was CS sucks Rean sucks etc. I've enjoyed every game in the series even if I had some small story issues here and there.

      @ I’m pretty sure that the plot device is the thing, that shows very notsubtleTM in the trailer. That’s exactly what I’m looking forward too 🤣

    I'm really looking forward to it, only real hesitation comes from what people who played it have said about it. I only played Daybreak and its so far the only one I've beaten thus far (I have Zero and Azure in the back) but it just clicked with me too much and I'm excited to see these characters again.

    Glad that mini games are back to at least give a variety with exploration. Got tired of the daily routine in daybreak 1 wherein every chapter was roam around town and do 4spgs, get invited to another place then rinse and repeat every chapter. Cold steel had that same formula but at least the mini games changed things a bit.

    • @CommRio
      @CommRio  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That's what a lot of people don't understand about minigames. They're included to give the players a break and some variety, especially for longer games such as Trails.

    Not sure if it helps, but as someone who agrees with Sky 3rd and CS4, I think Kuro II was good.
    Mechanically speaking, I think Kuro II is amazing. It pretty much picks everything from Kuro 1 and improves. In terms of gameplay experience, I have nothing to say about Kuro II.
    In terms of story, I don't think it's a bad game at all. In fact, I consider most of the game quite good, having a great peak in its intermission. That said, it is true that the final act feels quite weak, and in some ways it feels that in terms of the overarching plot, the game could be almost skippable, and I don't think it has the Sky 3rd potential of only becoming more important to it as the years and game go by. But, while it's not an amazing finale, it's not like it damages the overarching plot or something like that, and there's still a lot of interesting stuff going on.
    All in all, I think it's a solid middle of the pack game within the Trails series. There's definitely games I prefered over Kuro II, but there's also definitely games I didn't (and going back to Sky 3rd and CS4, I definitely consider it better than CS4, but definitely worse than Sky 3rd).

    • @CommRio
      @CommRio  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Middle of the pack is more than acceptable especially when it comes to Trails standards. Thank you for sharing your perspective

    I'm really looking forward to this game's story and characters/character interactions(like with every game I play lol) and while it having a dungeon like in Reverie that will be fine but not where I'll be getting the most fun, thankfully we spend a lot of time out of it so I know I'll really like the game thanks to that unlike with Sky the 3rd which was just a big dungeon crawler with lots of battling which I got really bored of real quick.
    CS2 and CS4 got a lot of hate from the fandom like this game seems to be getting and I REALLY loved those games, CS4 still being my most favorite Trails game where I put over 200 hours in both my Switch version and PS4 version and still wanted more so I know just based on this game getting a lot of hate that I'm gonna really like this game lol
    I'm so glad that this game is getting a demo though I am bummed that the Switch version isn't getting one since that's my most played console(handheld gaming ftw!), especially for long JRPG games like Trails but I do have a PS5 so I can still try the demo there. Already got my Switch LE and PS5 copy preordered so I'm ready for some more Trails goodness in a few weeks! ^_^

    I get why people don't like this one, but I don't think that the game is as bad as they say. Gameplay wise is really good, only behind Kai. It has a lot of characterization for the characters and presentation wise it's an improvement. I personally like it and I'm curious to see what people think once it gets an official localization.

      My particular irritation has to do with a plot device that kinds of cheapens what would have been an emotional impact of seeing a character get killed off. Basically the worst part of the Cold Steel series in that Falcom apparently seems absolutely afraid to see ANY character die off in a real permanent fashion. Take that, repeat the cop-out every 15-30 minutes, and that explains why I didn't like it.

  • @Nikita_Akashya

    I will play this next year probably. I still have the rest of Cold Steel to go through this year. But I already preordered Daybreak 2 and will put it in the closet until it is time to play it. Switch 2 is also coming this year and I am not even sure if I can afford it with me having to move and all. But at least my current game is going well. I am finally on Rhapsody 3. I really hope I can play more Trails soon. But Tales of Graces is up first. I decided that weeks ago. And peope say bad things about Daybreak 2, but I am certain the complaints are not that huge. It is still a falcom game after all. And at least now I have the perfect controller for handheld mode. I will certainly enjoy this game.

    I loved the game despite it being a mostly "filler" game that advanced the plot by about 5%. But a filler Trails game its still more enjoyable than most AAA JRPG out there.

    Max lv 150 but without shining pom items you'll never get their the FINAL Marchen Garten floors PoST game only doesn't even HAVE LV 100 enemies on its FINAL floor AND UNLESS EVERY party member all 15 of them are ALL at lv 150 I'll NEVER attempt Nightmare mode ever.
    Max lv in Kai/Kuro 3 is also lv 150 but the final enemies in that game level wise aren't EVEN at lv 80.
