      I've had that issue before, but it wasn't due to dust, it happened when the power in my house kept going on and off

      where does an average non-computer person get thermal paste? I don't happen to have any lying around so what type, what brand, what do I look for? Is there some rating on the package? I need an absolute beginner's guide to self-repair. Blessings fyi, the last time my computer was acting up my friend replaced the coin battery and it stopped turning on and off.

      Hej Brian thanks for the video yes with relatively simple means you can get a computer to work normally again. A lot of dust and hair and other things accumulate in a computer, so a good cleaning of the computer's components is good to do after a while. I think many people miss this but, you can also have errors in the computer parts, of course. Good video Brian take care och ha en trevlig torsdag.

      If all else fails... I saw another video showing the technician unplug (from the motherboard) the wires to the reset switch, on/off switch (use another working one to test), USB front ports etc. Turns out the faulty reset switch was to blame for the computer resetting itself, similar to power cycling.

    Nice vid. I would check cpu later on. 1) check power cables 2)flush power. 3)remove ram and try boot 4)clear cmos 5)remove gpu /wifi etc 6)remove cpu. Move from out to inside. Also, if one drops the cpu (amd) the pins will bend. Basically, checking the cpu is high risk, even for a experienced tech.

      If it does, remove power , flush again, remove ram, plug power back in and start it up - does it beep? If not, get the diagnostic speaker and plug it into your mobo - count the beeps - with the ram removed, it should be a single loud beep (sounds like beeeeeeeeeeeep lol).

    I just got done building a PC with 100% used parts off eBay. I built quite a few PC’s. I did every single step isolated from 1 another. 1 by 1 and nothing was working. A friend of mine bought an 1155 motherboard the day they came out in January 2011 along with an i5 2500, and within having it a week or two Intel did a recall and so Gigabyte turned up at his door once they had the new B3 revision boards in stock and they swapped out the board, which seemed good of them considering. But with the B3 revision board he got power cycles for England and then all of a sudden it would work fine for a week or two. This went on for ages and he flashed the BIOS each time a new one came out to see if it would sort it. He let Gigabyte know about this but they weren't having it. Eventually he just bought a cheap Asrock board and has had no problems since.

      My Gigabyte B250M motherboard have the same issue. When I turn on it immediately turn off and then turning on in the second attempt automatically and it starts and everything is fine. Idk why but its bothering me cuz this is always happening when I turn on so my friends told me its not soo good for the hdd and other parts. Btw my psu is running fine.

    • @Sid-Cannon
      @Sid-Cannon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@manupriyagamage5429 I'm not 100% on this but I reckon it's something to do with the dual BIOS. You could try first making sure both BIOSes are the same, and then try flashing it if that doesn't work. But flashing it you run the risk of going from one reboot to get your system up and running, to an infinite loop like my friend had. I'd be worried about the HDD too as it has moving parts. Sorry I can't be of much help, I've just never touched Gigabyte since ...

    In my case it was power cycling about 90% of the time, and thus booted up successfully about 10% of the time. From that I assumed it was a power supply problem. I opened up the PSU and found 6 electrolytic capacitors that were bulging at the top. So for whopping $9.55 CAD, I replaced those capacitors, plus one more that was questionable. That fixed the PSU. So my 2009 LENOVO ThenkCentre M58p computer is up and going again. It can still handle 1080 60fps TH-cam and Netflix videos, so that is good enough for me. I purchased it refurbished, so taking into account how long I have had it, and the overall cost, it turns out to cost me about $55 per year. That includes the updating from HDD to SSD. Plus it includes updating the CPU from Duo core to Quad core, for a whopping $22..

    I notice one thing that if I place the case on its side instead of standing, whereby the CPU tower and graphic card are standing vertically instead of hanging by the side then the problem is gone. Could it be that my ITX case is so cramped that the power switch or its cable pins became faulty whereby a slight touch or disturbance could cause power cycling?

    I've been trying to diagnose an old 775 motherboard that suddenly wouldn't boot and just power cycle. I took everything out just left cpu and heat sink. Tried another psu, another cpu, different ram. Still power's on for 5 seconds then off and on again, no beep codes. Has a buzzer on the motherboard. Cleared cmos. All caps are good. Run out of ideas. Must just be a component failure. Have I missed any other check?

      @@mykellharris1 No but looking closely at the board I can see one of the tiny flat capacitors near the cpu looks dodgy and I suspect its that. I've just swapped the motherboard for another. I may repair the other one at a later date.

    @Britec09 I've had this issue twice now. I RMA'd the original motherboard that was having this issue because the RAM slots failed. I also RMA'd the power supplies and was sent two new ones. I was sent the first replacement motherboard and it arrived DOA so I had to RMA that one. The 2nd replacement they sent me worked fine for about two hours and then the PCI Express x16 Slot 1 stopped working completely. It wouldn't even detect either of my graphics cards. I ran the two graphics cards in PCI Express Slot 2 and 3 for two days without any issue whatsoever ever and then the computer completely shut off and did the whole power cycling. I tried the motherboard outside the case with just the motherboard and CPU hooked up and it still power cycled. I'm wondering if you think it might have been the motherboard again, which I have already RMA'd for a third time or the CPU? Thanks.

  • @bunson1116

    Not sure if you mentioned it. But some mother boards when cmos gets cleared will not boot up properly if they have XMP Ram installed. You need to have only one piece of RAM in, then enable XMP then put the XMP ram back in after you had saved and powered the unit back down and unplugged it :P.
    From my experience, #1 cause of random power cycling loop is a failure with the power/reset switch for the case itself.

    My PC was cycling power. I tried everything. Finally noticed what looked like corrosion around a chip. Looked like a solder bridge was causing the pins to short out. I took a needle and cleaned out the space between the pins and using electronics cleaner. Luckily it was an IC that had a little more space between the pins than the others. Use a magnifying glass to look.
