Thanks Joey ! I dare sharing some extra issues/options that I encountered and might help out people encountering spindash inconsistencies : - for thumb sliders, it is common to miss the "C" press because of a lack of force in the button press - use an input viewer to monitor this ; - for people using emulators, make sure your 3 jump buttons are set to 3 different distinct inputs or "ghosting" will happen ; - you can also look into 7-tap style if your 6-tap is too inconsistent, either by sliding ABCBABC (HDL style) or doing a 1-3-3 (Popo style ?). On keyboard, 1-3-3 can be achieved a bit more quickly if you group together your directional and jump buttons, so that you can use the index of your "directional" hand to do the "1" press and then do the 3-3 with your "spindash" hand
Even though I'm a TASer, this can be agreat tutorial for both TASers and RTA runners, because this can teach both new Sonic TASers and new RTA speedrunners. Sometimes I might do RTA runs, and I use an Xbox Series S controller, and I go for a 6TAP, using my thumb on the X, Y, B, and A buttons, just mashing all of them, and that could give you a 6-frame 6TAP, but it is very rare. But anyways, this is a good tutorial. You were probably one of the reasons why I started speedrunning.
Great video, now I feel like I want to do a video on the exact mechanics of spindashing. I figured out exactly how they work just yesterday and the information doesn't seem available anywhere.
@@timpz I'd be down to see your take on it! More guides for the games needs to exist in general, especially with 2024 knowledge. We usually have valuable information locked away in Discord servers and not rentally avaliable to the public eye, so I plan to start remedying that.

This helped me kinda understand the mechanics a bit better for OG. Coming from Origins, it definitely feels different! Appreciate it Joey!
Awesome explanation Joey. Please do more of this on other Sonic mechanics!
Let's fucking go. El. Psy. Kongroo.
Omg I always thought about this while playing s3air and FINALLY there is a video about it 😭
Just gotta figure out if this works fine in s3air xd
This is very useful! Really needed this as a refresher, thanks! 😊
