    Hi, I made 200g of this cream today, instead of Cocoa Butter I used Kokum Butter, turned out very creamy and I really like it and my 10yr old grandson likes it too and wants me to give some to his mom, thanks for your videos, blogs and encyclopedia they have taught me a lot

    I made this cream today and it has the most amazing texture. I scaled it up to make approx 3 cups. I used oat infused water, apricot oil, 1/5 coconut oil, 4/5 cocoa butter and btsm 50 (half the amount) and the other ingredients were more or less the same. Then I added some goat milk powder and oat silk. Essential oils were: may chang, lemon verbena, patchouli, sandalwood and benzoin. Wonderful cream lotion. Thank you so much.

      @@nathaliariv9838 i use half as much BTMS 50 as the recipe is asking for in terms of emulsifier and then the same amount of cetearyl alcohol as this recipe required. And it turned out very nicely. Like pavlova just before you bake it. A bit bouncy.

    Think your version is actually 'deluxe' with the oat oil swap-out, as Lush would be saving money by using olive oil - which is a lot cheaper. I think the £20 price tag on a standard size pot of DC is pretty high. Lush's reputation has declined a lot in the UK in recent years, with them attracting same shocking mail order reviews. I don't think they care about their customers anymore. But, as you've demonstrated, we can make our own!

    This formula is absolutely amazing!! I was wondering about my pH though. It's at 3.3. is this something I should be concerned about? Also, how often should I check pH ranges before it's considered safe to use a cream on my skin?

    • @aniela9551
      @aniela9551 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Safe for skin is a pH from 4.5 to 5.5- I find 4.8 the "sweet spot" for my skin. A pH of 3.3 is usually for chemical exfoliation.

Lab Muffin made a great video about it titled "Why Comedogenicity Ratings Are Kinda BS " (th-cam.com/video/-wz__FPq5kE/w-d-xo.html), and the title really says it all :) Happy making!

I'm thinking in terms of cooking or even baking cupcakes, if you want 24 as opposed to 12 that the recipe would turn out the same. %99.9 it doesn't. most of the time it looks & feels completely different. but as Maries' stated wait a few days to see if the texture changes :)

    Is oat oil the same as oat infused olive oil?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No; oat oil is made from oats, just like olive oil is made from olives :) Learn more about it in the free Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/)!

    Just discovered this channel and you are such a great teacher. Less is more for me, so I'll be trying this out vs the older formulation. Btw your hair looks fab today!

      Thank you so much and welcome ❤️
      Don't forget to check out my blog (humblebeeandme.com) as well-I've been blogging since 2011 while I’ve only been on TH-cam since about 2016, so there are a lot more formulations on the blog. The blog is also where my totally free ingredient encyclopedia and FAQ live, and they're both packed with tons of super-helpful information ❤️ Happy making!

    Speaking of essential oils, which ones do you find that you tend to keep in your pantry now that you are this far in your level of formulating? How often do you opt out of formulating with essential oils to choose a fragrance oil, hydrosol, or no scent instead?
    A big gripe that I've had with DIY Formulation on the internet is how heavy it leans on essential oils. The herbalists of my pre-formulating interests taught me that EOs are basically under-regulated *refined drugs* that aren't used very functionally in commercial skincare, or worse are used with a heavy hand quite dangerously in the home setting, & it's a pattern consistent with most online content. I've trained my brain to completely skip over the EOs when I break down a formula or read ingredients lists (in my mind they're nothing more than theme embellishments, basically useless but pretty garnish that nobody eats), which is unfortunate since EOs can actually be quite functional. Online formulations are usually written like the authors never heard of IFRA, and indeed neither did I before I found your blog
    I hope to hear more about your thoughts on the subject of what you find most helpful for your style of DIYing
