Very few modifications on my nc. Used Ohlins shock in the rear, madstad windscreen, Skidplate. I did get an auto-oiler, bc I had to put an (expensive!) no-oring chain on it and I'm bad about lubing the chain, plus it's out in the elements at home. Heated corbin seat, bc the stock seat was torn. Road all the way to Colorado from Louisiana, and back. Gravel, dirt, asphalt, no problem. Took it into the grass one night bc we were tired from the ride, might as well have been on pavement (of course, I kept it vertical, no lean). One time (on a different ride), I went wide and into a ditch, it climbed out no problem without even stopping. Thing is a tank, only thing it lacks is fuel capacity, which can be resolved with some aux tanks if necessary. I love it. I do kinda wish I got a newer model year, but the 2012 isn't missing much.
Gotta say the rear shock was the most important modification. Dunno about later years, but the 2012 bucked like a horse on the road before the mod. Absolutely terrible. The front isn't great either, but it is more than bearable compared to the rear.

Thanks for that! I remember when these came out I had a chance to ride one (NC 650) for a couple of monts. I believe the low rev torque is because the NC has an "undersqare" engine, and was in fact made of a "split" 4 cylinder car engine. Having ridden more than 20 bikes I rmember this one to be ergonomically perfect and very frugal on fuel. Come to think of it I found it to be just about perfect, however, it had only been used to commute through London with the odd trip on days off.

Hi,the outback is vast...the only solution i can think of is to get a rear set of pannier racks and maybe add 5L per side auxillary tanks to them,at 27km per litre minimum, this should be adequate. The std range on the main tank gives 350km range...or should in theory.

@@FranksWay the crf1000 are 45mm forks though? Transalp would fit with the 41. What do you do about rear shock? I can’t imagine it’s a easy as throwing a longer travel shock in there without clearance issues.

Hi,thank you for your question,i suggest you look at all my build videos on the NC700 where i discuss what i had to do,the first will be to get rid of the original wheel bearings and replace them with 20mm inner diameter ones, the spacers i made up are 18mm wide on each side, please let me know what the progress is. 😉
@@FranksWay ok ok great, i saw all your videos, but you havent told about those spacers, so you use 18mm in each side, one more thing, do you have to use a spacer beetwin the sprocket braket and the wheel main axle so the wheel align the sprocket and the disk brake since the transalp are narrower? Hi,before the new Alp was released,i had my own thoughts of the best adv bike, these included, low centre of gravity, light on fuel, light in weight, long service intervals,21 inch front...the NC has by far exceeded all my expectations...Honda should have incorporated this into the new alp.But i am just a small builder, what do i know 😀
Need to put some better pictures of the final product up! The thumbnail is great but you can't really get a good look at the bike.
Will do some more pics when i return to S.A from France..
Very curious if you have any tips for the newer ‘23 model. With the suspension travel being lower. How would you go about transforming it. I used mine for a commuter but I can’t help but want to mod it. I have a dr650 for dual sport rides but I haven’t gone on a dual sport ride in 2 years so I wanna give the long distance adv touring job to the nc but it needs some work.
Hi,i have a subscriber that is in the process buying a '23 model model that wants it modified,to date i haven't had my hands on one,but...with the ABS rings my thoughts are to install the CRF1000 suspension,or the Transalp 700 unit..i guess it comes down to personal preference.thanks for watching 😉..i personally won't buying anything else again for my adventure rides. This NC does everything.
@@FranksWay the crf1000 are 45mm forks though? Transalp would fit with the 41. What do you do about rear shock? I can’t imagine it’s a easy as throwing a longer travel shock in there without clearance issues.
I stuck in 49mm CRF forks...dont let the mm size decide your limits...once i upgraded the front, did the 10L xtra fuel tank,i will concentrate more on the rear.
Thanks for sharing your video!

Well fueltank location s a nono... Gotta take off the luggage to fuel up 😵💫
I cannot argue that...still better low than high up as conventional bikes.
Just remove the rear seat before you strap down your luggage - you won't be needing it !!
I fully agree with that one 😀
Hiys there.
Just wanted to say love the videos.
Question? The xr250 has 41mm forks would they work better than the tranny forks?
Hi there, thanks for the kind words and comment,i suppose you can put any forks in front, just as long as you use the stem on the NC...you are welcome to whattsapp me +27717802213. Frank
very helpful. Thanks for making this!

Which exhaust do U have? Very nice Sound
Be sure to watch my next vid,i will try and get the name of the exhaust...it was a garage hanger that i just bolted on
This video made me very happy.
Thanks
awesome, just got a 2019 750x, wanna do the exact same,
Great stuff...go for it!!
Im kinda scared doing anything more than forest service roads on my NC, but honestly this is making me think otherwise 🤔
You are missing out...plenty 😉😉
Honda, take note !
Frank, what is your bash plate? it looks perfect.
i got it from flyingbrick.co.za
Bro why Honda isn’t making Transalp DCT, it wouldve been the game over for the competition
Yeah...its about the sales to the public, if they where to have made the TA750 on the nc platform, the crf1100 sales might have been slower...i guess the 1100 was the answer to the GS...who knows.
What brand are those spoked wheels? Where did you get them?
Hi,thise are Transalp 700 suspension incl wheels,my next build is CRF450 suspension and wheels.
Nice review, nice camera work too
Thanks
Great video man, thanks! I just got a 2023 NC750X DCT, and I really want to do something like what you did to the suspension. Did you say you put the standard Transalp 650 suspension on it? Both front and back? Did you do anything else to lift it, or did that suspension set lift it at all? Any advice you could give me about what you did would be very appreciated, thanks!
Hi there,my next build on an NC750 will get a CRF450 suspension in,ABS will also be functional.I have an S.A client that wants the conversion. If you have whattsapp, contact me on 0717802213
Hi, can you give me some hints? I have bougth a transalp 700 rear wheel to fit in the nc750x, besides the the rear wheel axle diameter must be increased to 20mm, what have you done to fit? I have tried to center the wheel on the swing arm with the 17 axle just to test, but the wheel seems that do not lign up with the brake calliper, can you help me?
Thankyou
@@telmoadriao2586 Hi,inside the sprocket i used the NC spacer, but i had to put a spacer in as well between spacer and bearing..i think 2 to 4 mm to fill up the gap.On the disc side i used the std NC brake holder with 650 caliper and pads..the only spacers i had to make is 18mm on each sides of the wheel..check what works for you sir please..😉
Hi Frank! Finaly i could instal the transalp 700 abs rear wheel, just have done what you have told me, for the Record the transalp 700abs axle is the same as the transalp 650 so no problem at all, now i am adapting the front forks, but i am thinking about instead doing the triple tree clamp mod, i am using the honda nc original triple tree clamp and now i am trying to adapt the front wheel, brake Callipers and abs sensor with some custom adapters since the distance between the forks are just a little diferent, i believe that i can make it work, when i have some results i will update you, thanks again!
Great stuff,where are you located?
Good day! will you build one for someone if they ask you to build one for them? There are people out there that is not to handy.
Absolutely,i can yes, which country?
Hi,i would yes, there would have to be some component research first tho. Thanks for your comment.
I have an NC700X and this is exactly what I want. I would love to know all the mods you made.
Hi,you are welcome to send me a whatsapp to +27717802213, i would share the info with you.
Great video guys.

What Handguards do you use? Where did you get those rims?
Hi,the handguards came from Startline and the rims are off a Transalp 650
That looks really good !
Thank you very much
On my next build i am putting in CRF450 suspension, i love how this transforms the bike to more adventure biking.thanks for folliwing, check out my new video.
