Quick question, got the conversion all set up yet when i start the game i wake up on the prisoner ship in morrowind with the starwars UI..have i done something wrong? lol Edit: Figured it out lol
The fun part is, Morrowind did make the combat way more realistic than people understand. Example, if you have a novice with a longsword, of course they will do big mistakes, and easy to dodge attacks. And if they are tired, of course they will miss way more. If they are lucky they will get a hit in, and if they have the agility they can correct themselves to possibly hit their opponent. But just because a game from 2004 doesn't have 2020 animations (Quite literally), where action combat is more showy and shows the evades and dodges, people say it is bad. And we have an updated calculation to boot which makes a lot of sense except for one single thing, but that is more or less because Bethesda did a oopsie. (Weapon Skill + (Agility/5) + (Luck/10)) * (0.75 + (Current Fatigue/Max Fatigue))) + Fortify Attack Magnitude + Blind Magnitude. Either they watched to much "The Blind Samurai" movies, or they forgot that a + is additive and not subtracting. The Blind Magnitude is supposed to reduce your chance, but in Bethesda fashion, it does the opposite and increases it which is funny. So if People want to get a 100+ chance to hit even with nearly nothing in a Weapon Skill, making Attack Fortifying potions, then Blind self spell of 75%, will make it a lot easier to level it. Can even have Enchanted items that gives a total of 75% Blind on self.
I don't think people fail to "understand" how the combat is "way more realistic", seeing as how a weapon connecting with the target but missing at the same time is also not realistic.
@@mrflyingace Que and point to that system of animations was not even done till the 2012s, maybe stop putting Today's modern things on a game that is 21 years old. But really, have you never been out running, getting exhausted, and breathing heavy, now try to swing a weapon. A living thing, will not just stand there and take hits, they will move, they will dodge, they will evade. The whole "If I can see it hit the target then it should hit." argument is literally the worst argument ever. Daggerfall, oh look same deal, all the RPGs from 2002 and back. Some of the rated best RPGs in the genre also has that, where animations was not showing what is told by the game. So again, the system is actually damn realistic, since when you are exhausted you will not be doing *anything* good. Try it, go out run to the point your lungs hurt, then try to swing a claymore like nothing, see how good that goes. Or use a bow and arrow, try to aim it while breathing heavily, making your arms unsteady and more.
@@DraconiusDragora Dude, you're arguing against things I didn't even say. Yes, it's realistic for your character to miss when exhausted and unskilled. I didn't argue against that at all. But when a weapon visibly connects with a character but apparently "misses"? That's not realistic. That was my whole point and nothing else.
@@mrflyingace And again, lets speak about the Havoc Engine, you know the Physics Engine. First Three Games that ever used it: Two Racing games that was never published or sold. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Second again your Argument is still exactly the same. Take Baldur's Gate 3, oh yeah unrealistic combat, it is shit because I clearly saw that two-handed sword cleave through the target, and *Missed* appeared. OMG That is so against the "If I see it hit the target then it should do damage!". See why it is a shitty argument? And nope, they are not animations to show a flurry or moves out of the way, because it would just break the game. And you are asking that of a game that was released 21 years ago, when it was the top of its animations, hell even today do you know how few games have Swimming Animations? If games from 2023 have problems with it, how would a game that was developed by the Gamebryo Engine which was outdated 2 years before the game even started being developed. Which lack the tools and processing power to do animations of those kinds. Same argument can be put against Dragon Age, all of them, Daggerfall, All of the Forgotten Realms games. So why can a weapon miss in the case? The opponent might have moved out of the arc of the swing, they might have blocked it with their blade, you might have hit a piece of armour negating any damage, they might even have taken a step back then back again. Do you have any idea how much work it is to do all of those animations? If you are playing Statistical Based games with your Eyes, sorry but you should stop, since you lack the imagination to play it. And by gods sake, never, ever play a table top game or pnp such as Gamma World, Mutant Year Zero, DnD, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, and an inexhaustable list of PnP (Pen and Paper) games that sometime are table top games with minies and a board to play on.
@@DraconiusDragora Okay, see, this is why I tried to end this. 1. I didn't say the combat was unrealistic. I said the part about a weapon connecting visually but somehow mechanically missing at the same time is unrealistic. 2. I'm not asking or expecting anything out of a game released over 20 years ago. I merely pointed out 1 thing: visually hitting but mechanically missing is not realistic. "If you are playing Statistical Based games with your Eyes, sorry but you should stop, since you lack the imagination to play it." If you think arguments are black or white only and me saying a part of combat is unrealistic means that I'm saying that the combat is completely unrealistic, you need to stop discussing and arguing things. "Let's talk about the..." let's not. I'm not interested. Never was. Never will. Definitely not with you.
wow, had no idea there is a star wars mod for morrowind, got to try it one day after i have finished my normal playthrough of morrowind and then tamriel rebuild :D
This is a wonderful mod and I commend everyone involved, but the authors really need to take all the voice audio files and batch normalize them so the audio isn't all over the place in terms of volume. This can be done with mp3gain or audacity for free, or if somebody's got a DAW just throw it all in a compressor and cap it at -2db or whatever the music is mixed to. My two cents since the volume spikes are pretty brutal.
If you have any specific advice it would be a good idea to hop onto their Discord and discuss it with them, they've made a ton of changes, additions, and fixes due to community feedback.
@@Zhakaron that's a good idea. I didn't even know this project existed until I saw your stream though, so thanks for exposing it. Very fun playthrough and very cool mod, audio quirks aside.
Yes, but not by default, it has to be tweaked. You will need to go to the Starwind Discord server (check the nexus page) and check out their documentation about that.
insanely impressive mod, I didn't know it was even possible to replace the UI, unless this is running on openMW engine, but the vanilla font stands out too much. Still, really impressive work so far, even if I'm not really big on the Old Republic era. it's nice to see a version of KOTOR with a better combat system :P by the way, the Ikea shark, Blahaj, is a symbol of trans support
Not really a fan of that flag personally. I respect individuals' life decisions mind you, as long as you aren't hurting other people, do whatever you want and make yourself happy, that should be your number one priority, other's approval be damned. But collectivizing individuality gets messy.
I respect people's rights to be happy for sure, but no. I was born a (crazy) man and am very comfortable with that. People get confused because I like dressing up in video games, which is not real life.
