    I changed the rules. What you roll is what you place your piece on. If it's blocked, you replace your opponent's piece with yours. If you get doubles, you go again. When every space is occupied then you count up.

    I played this game for the first time with my long term crush. Before the date, I watched this video and knew it was the game for us. My (now) gf (F54), lets call her Jane, loves this game. Thank you so much @TheBoardGameKaptain for teaching us how to play this game. I can't wait to teach our future children how to play also (if my gf can still have children haha).

    its called pass out because who ever passes out of boredom first looses.

      A very believable theory. ;)

      I read somewhere that it was a drinking game, you took a drink everytime you couldn't cover a space and it was called Pass Out because you ended up drinking a lot. That would also explain why it was very popular in pubs.

    No way! I have that exact same game box thing! I was wanting to learn how to play some of the games on it, since we haven't gotten a chance to use it. This is perfect. Thank you!

    Thanks for explaining Pass Out, that was on the same exact multi-game board that you show in your video. I bought it at a silent auction two months ago to give to some young relatives, in the hopes they learn to play board games instead of stuff on a computer.

    jeez I really interpreted the instructions in a completely different way. When it said combined total, I do every single combination of numbers for that total and for individually, I do every single combination for both die individually. I think I complicated the game way too much since you can get 5 spaces by rolling a 6:4 and combining them individually.

    I own this classic games set too.
    I only have one question, what's with the blank square? Do you ever get to "mark" it or something?
    Thanks for your review.

    • @TheBoardGameKaptain
      @TheBoardGameKaptain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You don't mark the blank one, It's so there is an odd number of squares and therefore never a tie ;)

    Thank you for your video! I bought the same game set at Goodwill today for a whopping $2.00. I had no idea what this game was, nor the cross shaped dots game. (No instructions were included, but all pieces except the dice are there. No problem for me though, as I already have a set of 6 wooden dice that will match well.) Now I'm off to figure out what the dots game is....

    • @TheBoardGameKaptain
      @TheBoardGameKaptain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're welcome. The cross shaped game of dots is Solitaire. You play by putting pieces on all the spaces except the center space. Then you move by jumping pieces orthogonally and removing the jumped pieces. The object is to have only one piece remaining at the end. I hope this helps :) Here's a link to its BGG page.

    That board looks so nice! I got one from Target but it looks really low quality wood and it's already broken when we opened it. Do you remember where you bought yours or just the brand? The other games look really fun!

    Can you link to your game set? Or to one you recommend?
    I would like to get a high-quality large set for around 75$ for family evenings and travel.
    But I can't find one which isn't questionable.
    These are games I would like to have in the set:
    Backgammon
    Checkers / Chess
    Chinese Checkers
    Parcheesi
    Dominoes
    Shogi (Bonus for my father)
    Cribbage (Bonus for my mother)
    And of course somewhere to put a standard set of cards & die

    • @TheBoardGameKaptain
      @TheBoardGameKaptain  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not going to find one with Shogi, and dominoes rarely are included in multi game sets. If you search Amazon you'll find some with most of the others though.

    • @anglegaming6
      @anglegaming6 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it is a shame but my father brings his shogi board & pieces anyway so it's not a big deal.
      But I was unable to find a set on amazon which had over 4 star review average and everyone claim that it's very small.
      Guess it simply means I didn't search enough. Thanks :D

    Do you know that the majority of these companion games are for kids. Usually from around 7/8. Why do you have to think of it as a gambling tool. 🤨

    • @TheBoardGameKaptain
      @TheBoardGameKaptain  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This game was created as a gambling game and primarily used as such in pubs. It was not a child's game. That's just the history of the game.
