According to the US chamber of commerce about 50% of small businesses right now I worry they will not be able to pay their rent next month. Is this a sign of a strong economy? Because all I keep hearing is how great things are but I can't think of any scenario where this would be good.

I made the mistake of having breakfast at Dennys yesterday. 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 toast, awful hashbrowns, 1 cup coffee. $24 bucks. $3.75 for a cup of coffee. Never again.
Boycott these places. What a rip off.
I bought a large chocolate shake at arbys I know I’m in for 4 bucks…was gonna add a 4pc cheese stick it was 3.99!! That’s a dollar a cheese stick, didn’t do it

They got you. Lol. It’s like we mice walking into the trap
I took my two young daughters to Dennys about 4 months ago and including a 15% tip the total came out to 95$ ridiculous
I recognize the hardships that come with economic struggles like unemployment, job loss, inflation, housing market instability, political uncertainties, and the global impact of conflicts and wars. Making ends meet during such times can be incredibly challenging. To navigate this difficult period, considering alternative job prospects, enhancing skills through online courses, and expanding your network can heighten the chances of securing employment. Moreover, prudent budgeting, exploring available financial aid programs, and seeking assistance from community organizations can offer some relief. How are you currently tackling these challenges? Have you implemented any specific strategies to cope?
In my opinion, now is not the moment to rely on hearsay. Every individual, regardless of their level of experience as an investor OR in a financial market, requires guidance at some stage.
It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.
That's fascinating. How can I contact your Asset-coach as my portfolio is dwindling?
There are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’ Melissa Terri Swayne” for about five aiyears now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.
Thanks for sharing, I just liquidated some of my funds to invest in the stock market, I will need every help I can get.
Protecting your capital is much more important than making money. Basically because if you lose your capital, making money is much harder. ''Missing the train'' vs. ''losing your money''. There are a lot of trains, but if your money is gone, it's over.
Wall Street pitched so-called quality stocks with high profitability and low debt, as a kind of insurance against whatever the economy might throw at you. Quality stocks have underperformed the S&P500 this year, My $200k portfolio is down by approximately 20 %, any recommendations to scale up my returns on investment
Nobody knows anything You need to create your own process, manage risk and stick to the plan, through thick or thin While also continuously learning from mistakes and improving.
Exactly why i enjoy market decisions being guided by a pro , seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk management and market experience , been using a portfolio-coach for over 2years+ and I've netted over $3million in that time frame.
Hello DAVE, How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.

I don't go to places that expect tips anymore.
The service is never worth it, the food usually isn't either.
I’m from the U.K. and have spent plenty of time in America. The tipping culture is insane and definitely not worth it these days. The change in service in the last 10 years is very noticeable and it shouldn’t be expected all the time.
Many places have you order at counter, give you a buzzer and you get your food. You then bus your own table-Why do they flip the screen and ask for a tip? I don’t get it.
@WontHarmYou you watch a video about small - medium businesses struggling and failing in an inhospitable economy and your reaction is... blame it on owner. Small business are getting squeezed and are working with very narrow margins. Wages low because they are struggling, not because they are greedy. Large corporations are largely to blame. They incentivise mass illegal immigration, which suppresses wage growth. They should be much higher.
I never tip with a card regardless of the service, because the government takes their cut before the server ever sees it. Having spent many years working in the restaurant industry though, I will still tip a server when I have cash on hand, and when the service and food quality are deserving of it. Only then can I know that the full tip goes into their pocket and will be divvied up accordingly.
I have been vacationing all over Europe. Food service in most places has made us feel like royalty. Tipping is not expected. I stopped eating out altogether in the US. I even stopped going to Starbucks inside my local grocer to get hot matcha lattes, because the lethargic sloths that slowly roll their pajama-clad blubber over to the cash register when customers arrive who won’t even look at us or smile when they exhaustedly strain themselves to murmur some incomprehensible version of the English language is just too much for me to bear, let alone pay $7 a cup for.
Our economy struggling with uncertainties, housing issues, foreclosures, global fluctuations, and pandemic aftermath, causing instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions need urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.
With the US dollar losing value to inflation and other currencies gaining traction, uncertainty looms. Yet, many still trust in the Dollar's perceived safety. Worried about my $420,000 retirement savings losing value, I seek alternative security for my money.
With my demanding job, I lack time for investment analysis. For seven years, a fiduciary has managed my portfolio, adapting to market conditions, enabling successful navigation and informed decisions. Consider a similar approach.

I stopped at one of my favorite restaurants on Friday and they were closed. Out of business. Today I drove by a McDonalds I have visited many times and it’s abandoned and homeless people are living in the parking lot. Down the street the gas station has a fence around it and the gas pumps are surrounded by wood crates to protect them from vandalism. And the restaurant lounge next to it also has a fence around it. Abandoned. Things are doing great.

Increase across the board on COG and labor, utilities, rent, insurance, maintenance, pest control equipment and supplies down to the freaking toilet paper all eating away at any potential profit

One thing to remember about privately owned restaurants, many tout home made but if you witness the delivery before hours it is either the Gordon or Sysco food supply truck unloading the ingredients.
It is corporate tray and already made somewhere else, frozen and then prepared.
So if you want to "eat out" just call up Sysco or Gordons and cut out the middle man.
Sysco also deals in basic ingredients in bulk .. not just ready made meals.
Because the cost of food prep is high. That’s why restaurants use Sysco.
Yup all the same sht, couple different trucks deliver it

I worked as a sushi chef for a small restaurant for a while… loved it, but they did use too much frozen stuff imo in situations that it wouldn’t have been hard to make homemade. I eventually quit that job and went to work at another restaurant for its grand opening. The day I saw the Sysco truck pull in and unload all of the premade food, I quit. I am not lying when I say EVERYTHING on this place’s menu was premade. I refused to be a microwave “chef” 😂 the funniest part is people leave reviews for this restaurant like it has the best homemade recipes in town!
I just closed on my house. I had the ideal situation though. I live in New Mexico and I bought my house from my best friend. He had refinanced the house a few years back at 2.5% interest. We worked out a deal between the two of us without involving a realtor. I would do a simple assumption loan and pick up everything he had. The title company was surprised our assumption loan went through. The loan company dragged their feet for 10 months. The guy from the title company said loan companies hope one of the two parties just gets frustrated and decides to do a new loan. But neither my friend or I cared how long it took. We simply laughed about it. I’m happy and a new home owner. The loan company sends me emails everyday telling me I have $100k of equity I could get out if I want to refinance the house. Is that kind of late fee even legal?
Mine would have been $120 for ten days late if I was still renting the house that I had been in for 11 years. We had until the 5th of the month to pay before late fees kicked in.
@@JoelUldrych-kh2scmost leases and mortgages impose a late fee once 5 days late. My mortgage has a 10% late fee ($273) if paid over 5 days from due date.
I opened my restaurant in 2015… first time I’m late on rent. Labor & food cost through the roof… and business down 30% since xmas
I feel for the restaurant owners.
In 2011 I closed my retail business and then after I closed at the end of my 3 yr lease, the landlord was like..please stay ..you can pay half price per month (thousands less). landlords should be proactive and offer lower rent BEFORE the business closes. It was too late to change my mind l, but I certainly didn't even think of the possibility I could ask for 50% off. That might've worked out. I think landlords will know when the economy is going south, so it won't be shocking to hear an offer so low especially if they lived through 2008-11. My advice...ask your landlord for 50% discount if your building isnt at high occupancy. If their options are zero cash flow from your location when you leave, or 50%, the 50% starts to sound pretty good.
Good advice, thanks for sharing
You should’ve done it 5 years earlier, that’s what I did for my lessee renewal. Reduced the rent cost, have landlord cover the insurance for building, and have them cover the property tax for it as well. In total around 50% in savings. We’re still in business, although it has slowed down a lot, but it’s still enough for us to budget for everting and hopefully make it through this economy.

Hi Michael, as a wedding venue owner in Ohio wanted to let everyone know that 2025 booking season never started. We are spending even more on advertising but future brides are not booking. Venue tours are down 50%, bakeries seeing about the same rate for wedding cakes and people are going to cheaper options. People don't have money to spend on wedding period. Funeral homes is the option now a days.
All due respect. MEN have opted out of marriage and families at alarmingly high rates (and for good reasons) divorce stats back this up.
The prices people were spending on weddings had gotten to be ridiculous. It is nice to see couples are making better decisions than going into debt for a single day.
mowtivated mechanic is correct. Weddings being down isn't just the economy. 50% of marriages now end in divorce within 5 years. 75% of those divorces are filed by the woman. And the "reason" for the divorce is usually her saying "I'm not happy", NOT anything like "he beats me" or "he cheated on me" (more women "cheat" than men actually). Men have learned the scam and won't partake any more. Then, a lot of women are looking for some exorbitant $60,000-$80,000 "princess" wedding to impress a bunch of people that they actually hates. In essence they are looking more for a "wedding" than they are a "marriage". Some women are even convincing brainless beta male grooms to TAKE OUT LOANS for those $80,000 weddings. INSANITY. I've talked to older ladies who were married in the 1950's that had the wedding in the little local church wearing their mothers/grandmothers wedding dress then went back home to have the reception in their parents house with pot-luck food brought in by the relatives. Those were the days when a marriage was about finding someone compatible and devoted, combining efforts to make a better life for each other and share a commitment to a long married life together. Those days are gone.
good. the prices for that shyt were ridiculous to begin with.
All that expense only for the wife to break it off after 7 years because she has the false illusion of choice thanks to dating apps. The juice is not worth the squeeze
I'm in Missouri: Knew this married couple who had State Farm ins on their house for thirty + years, from the time they bought it. Storm came through and a rather large tree limb fell onto the roof, they filled a claim. The ins. agent told them . "That because the tree was within 250 feet of the house, they weren't going to cover damages, any repairs, or removal of the tree limb."
Should of hired a lawyer. There is always a game to play. Their job is to find an exemption not to pay you
So I guess you can't have trees shading your house now? Too risky? 250 feet? That's ridiculous.

There are all kinds of little indicators that the economy is in trouble, and I see them, because I'm a mail carrier.
For example, we had our yearly food drive today. Last week, I handed out food drive cards and plastic bags, in preparation for the food drive, the same as last year.
I received no food bags before today, which was a bad sign. Usually, food donations trickle in all through the week. And today, I got no more than 1/3 of the donation volume that I did last year. People can hardly afford to feed themselves, let alone give away food.
Food banks are getting crushed right now. My work wants to have a potluck this week, and from what I'm seeing, it's definitely going to require a lot of luck between people not having time to prep for a midweek potluck and many not having the extra money to splurge on making something that feeds more than what's necessary for their household.
I wonder if some people are afraid to leave a food bag by their mailbox for fear that someone will steal it before the mail carrier arrives.
