- Created this video on an Anycubic Kobra go to assist with getting better prints related to how and when to calibrate E Steps and filament flow. Specifically for under and over extrusion issues. Let me know if you have questions or concerns.

You must patent those calibration brim prints. They have become a staple with you and have been used in soooooo many different ways.

do you use special settings to get a smooth top? I know chep used to have settings for smooth top by using ironing and special ordering settings in cura.
Hey Gary, no ironing on mine. I've seen Cheps video on ironing. Once both the esteps and flow were well dialed it really came together. I do use the monotonic setting that Chep uses.
Sorry this is off topic but do you know what would cause this problem? I need to auto level my bed but each time when it starts on the first point it tries to push through the bed it seems. So much that it starts to bend the build plate. The odd part is the red light in the print head comes on when it gets close enough. If you have any ideas it will help a ton.
Finally got it fixed. The issue was the main wire leading into the sensor was twisted up too much and kinked that it wasn’t relying the signal to the main board. Thank you all for your help
No worries if it is about 3d printing it's on topic for me :) Does it only touch and bend on the first point and not any of the other points there after? If it's only on the first point and you abort, just because you see the light come on doesn't mean that the signal is making it back to the processor. YOu may need to follow the sensor wire and hopefully it has only come loose on the connection to the control board. Keep us posted how you make out.
@@mayhemsmiley it hits the first point goes down then a red light comes on near the orange sensor. After that it keeps going down bending the bed with the force of the motor. I will check the wires when I get home.
Your sensor may not be where it needs to be. Stick the 2 sided wrench under the sensor with the nozzle touching the bed. Loosen the screw and let it drop on the wrench and tighten it. Then run auto bed leveling again that could be the problem too
Also make sure the gantry wheels are tight and manually level the bed first before auto leveling stick a cheap level under the gantry to get the height perfect.
@@gator509rind9 I did all you said but it still won’t auto level and pushes so much on the first point that it bends the plate. I might get the parts to make it a manual leveling printer if I can’t fix it.
hey smiley, i have been learning alot from your videos recently and i very much appriceate these. i have one question/concern though about flow. now i thought i had been set up and doing things properly on my kobra go until you made the latest video on the new retraction test, which is great b.t.w. however i found something out on my printer and i want to know if its just mine or if it is a detail thats been overlooked or simply if i am missing something entierly.
please bear with me, in cura i prepared 9 sets of strands each with different temps retracts and even flows, i have about 27 gcodes set up for each. now when monitoring my prints i look at the printer screen interface. the only thing it doesnt show is flow. now while the print is running if you click menu a screen pops up with the current settings on main screen but with flow at the bottom. now what ive realized is that in all of my gcodes, with different flow settings, on the interface it does not reflect the flow changes like it does all of the other settings. so it seems apparent that ALL of my prints have been running at 100% because thats what it says on the printer.
now am i missing something? why would the flow setting not reflect the gcode like the other settings do? is there some sort of factory default override? i do like this printer, though i am considering modifying it to direct drive and dual z, but once i found this i have become very very frustrated and CAN NOT find any info online about this. i really dont want to deal with anycubic customer support either lol. any insight, thoughts or advise from you or any veiwer would be greatly appriceated. thanks for all the help
Hey Robert, wow digging deep, way kewl. That flow that you found allows you to adjust the flow during a print, same as the speed. I searched the eeprom for M221 and didn't find on my eeprom so no forced flow settings to my knowledge. Did you complete your test or stop?
@@mayhemsmiley well i stopped with the flow gcodes i had set up once i realized i could set it manually on the machine. Honestly even buy doing that i havent really noticed much of a change. Its a little frustrating. The profile i use has flow set at 95 and it seems to be fine in most cases but i just cant shake the thought that the gcode is being overrode. Why else would it not show like the ither settings do? I just dont know
@@robertolson6686 interesting, I sliced a cube and searched the gcode for a change in the flow and could not find. hmmm
@@mayhemsmiley i was thinking more along the lines of the firmware of the GO. But .... The more i think about it the more frustrated i get, a thought just occured to me as i read your teply that maybe, just maybe, that flow number on the active print menu on the machine means 100% of my set flow in cura? Lol it could be that im over thinking things again lol. I just dont know.

How do you calibrate flow? I thought the e step was flow.
Flow is adjusted from within your slicer. Default on mine was 100%
But found some filament performs a little better at 105. Thanks for asking I should have mentioned it in the video. Have to figure out how to add that detail. Let me know if you need anything else
