- In this last video from Joe's garage, Jesse installs the new Glovebox Extension/Cell Phone Holder from Ski-Doo onto Joe's 2022 Renegade X 850. This accessory gives you the ability to use your phone for GPS, and the compartment your phone sits in is heated, just like the cell phone holder on new Ski-Doo's with the 7.8" premium gauge.

What a nice lookin sled!!
Hands down my favourite accessory so far!
Haha it is nice looking! The only thing that would be ever nicer is if the belt wasn't slipping lol. Cheers, Jesse
These videos are great aid’s for the do it your-self-ers.
Agreed! That's why we do what we do. To help all sledders alike! Cheers, Jesse
best accessory i installed on my backcountry
It is awesome isn't it?! Cheers, Jesse
Great video.
I just installed this on my 2022 Skandic. Excellent product however the most difficult part was removing the upper module to access the accessory harness. I know machines are different, but DYI guys should know what they're getting into. I have 5-inch Garmin Drive 52 with preloaded maps for my area.
Hey Dan! Ya its a pain forsure. Cheers, Jesse
Nice!
It's an awesome accessory! Cheers, Jesse
Great accessory, my favorite on my G4. With this I run BRP GO, Polaris Ride Command, and trail tracker which ever gives me the best maps for the area I’m in. Also keeps phone fully charged and visible. To me this is perhaps the most under rated add on you can make. All manufactures should offer something similar.
Yup. It's definitely a pretty awesome add on! Mike
Why on earth would you skip over the actual attachment to the snowmobile?
Its 2 screws and we show it in our other videos.
Thank you. This is one of those jobs that’s challenging the first time and pretty simple the next times.
No you're skipping how you run the wires, I can't find the wire that I need to plug into and how to run the wires. They're not just under the glove box
Where is the section where you show which wire you connect the heated leads to on the sled itself?
Hey Roman. It may not be in there. You should have a plug n play connection directly under the panel where your DESS key is, on the brake side of piece. It is clicked in underneath. Cheers, Jesse
Please show how the phone is connected.
Take it in and out.
How is it secured in there?
Hey Matt! Sorry that isn't in the video. I don't actually have the product myself so I can't record more footage. Basically there is a compartment which clicks open, you place your phone in, and then you click the compartment closed. Cheers, Jesse
How has the tablet been working on one of your previous videos? Maybe an update video coming soon? Thx
It's not working out well. We tried a set of heated grip elements and even that didn't work having them behind the tablet in super cold temperatures. Going back to Garmin or using the new phone case are the options. Cheers, Mike
Do you know if you can swap the door of the GPS mount and cell phone Glovebox Extension? Maybe I can buy the cell phone extension and get a second door to swap between GPS and Phone.
Yes you can. They sell it separately. Cheers, Mike
Did I see a cigarette lighter aswell in glove box ? Good video but it would of been better if you showed us where it plugs on sled
No cigarette lighter! Yup I agree, we definitely should have included that. Basically, directly under the plastic to the brake side of where the riser goes into the sled, there are plug and play connections clipped underneath. Cheers, Jesse
Great video! Very informative. Can I ask what size of windshield works best with the glovebox extension? I’m assuming the mid height or high shield but not the low one? Please confirm, and thanks for the videos you guys work so hard to post.
Any of those will actually work with the glovebox extension. We've run mostly the low and mediums. Hope this helps and thank for subscribing! Cheers, Mike
Any one have the original glove box lid. My "spring" broke when a tree fell on my sled. Looking for the grey leaf spring. 2020 expedition se in canada thx
Yup I do!! Send me an email at jesse@sledaddicz.com. I have a gen4 glovebox lid available for sale. Cheers, Jesse
Great video - quick question I have a 2018 Renegade X 850 and am wondering where do I find/access the accessory cable to connect to the glove box heater? THX!
Hey Darby! Thanks for reaching out. The connection is clipped under the brake side of the plastic base. So when you remove the hood, its clipped on the brake side under the black plastic. Let me know if you find it! Hope you enjoyed the video! Sorry for the late reply brother. Cheers, Jesse
@@sledaddicz Thanks Jesse. Keep up the great content! I am doing the Algoma tour this winter and your video was a great resource!
Thanks Darby! We will try our best this season - it will be a bit more difficult this season because I am back in school and unfortunately won't be riding nearly as much but Mike will still be at it full throttle! Glad the video was helpful. Enjoy Algoma - its awesome! Cheers, Jesse
It says up to a 6.4" phone? Measured diagonally? Just about any decent phone nowadays is bigger than 6.4" - iphone pro 13 max - 6.7". Samsung Galaxy S22+ is 6.6". What larger phone fit in this device?
Hey Jeff. Thats a good point.. I have an S22+ - 6.6 inches and it fits no problem. So I guess larger phones do still fit. Cheers, Jesse
Is there a way to charge your phone? or does it only keep the phone warm?
it only keeps it warm. You can always add the usb outlet to the glovebox so you can plug in your phone cord and charge it. Cheers, Jesse
I understand about the perforated foam to fit our specific phones but what about the other piece of solid foam that comes with it?
Hey Ron! Great question. I just looked into it for you. That piece of solid foam they give you is for thinner phones to make it more of a snug fit so it can't move in the holder. If your phone is too tight with that piece you can remove it. Hope that helps! Cheers, Jesse
@@sledaddiczok thank you Jesse.
Why are the holes not drilled already? Seems like an incomplete box.
Because that box is the stock glovebox on your sled. It doesn't come pre drilled as not everyone with a gen4 skidoo is using this accessory. Cheers, Jesse
Can you use this if you already have the cord for the heated visor installed? I'm guessing this would plug into the same spot where the heated visor cord plugs in to get power, correct?
Great question. Yes you can. Every BRP accessory comes with a split in the plug n play, always leaving you with an additional plug in. That way you can have more then one accessory plugged in (I have 4 or 5 I think lol). Cheers, Jesse
Not a tech guru here. But if there is no cell service what good is it to have GPS on your cell phone? The way I understand it no service no GPS. Is that true?
Thanks for your comment. GPS on your phone does not require cell service. As long as you download the trail maps in service you can still navigate the trails without service. Cheers, Jesse
@@sledaddicz But if you are miles from a trail, it does not pinpoint your location without cell service. Is that correct?
@skidoorulz4914 yes it does. You can pinpoint your location using GPS without cell service
Does the glovebox extension/cell holder come with all the necessary wiring and connectors or do you have to purchase any additional accessories? I don't have a usb port in the existing glovebox and wondering when ordering if more than just the glovebox extension has to be ordered?
It doesn't. You will need to install the USB port into your glovebox which you can purchase from your dealer. Cheers, Mike
The original stock cover to the glovebox is just set aside and not used after you mount the extension kit on, is that correct?
Yes that's correct. Cheers, Mike
Does that charge ur phone to?
You can plug your phone in using the USB port in the glovebox. Cheers, Jesse
@@sledaddicz I just got my 23 Rene X with glove box extension/cell phone holder. Sad... I assumed it came with some kind of USB port for charging cell phone while it is staying warm in cell phone holder. It does not - that is an additional accessory. I would have purchased it If I would have known - wish my dealer would have asked me. Or even better while it's heating also provide wireless charging. I cant even put a portable USB battery bank in glovebox and route cable to cellphone in holder. No open holes to fish cable thru. Unless I start drilling...
I know it says 6.4” max size phone
Is there any wiggle room to fit a 6.7”
I phone pro max?
Hey Zach! Ya you can probably get your pro max to fit. Cheers, Jesse
How big in dimensions is the phone holder? Namely how DEEP (thick) is holder? I wish to use it for Garmin GPS, and need to know actual dimensions (not screen size). Thanks!
Hey Darius. Unfortunately I am not sure as I don't have the phone holder anymore. If you are going to install a garmin GPS my suggestion would be to use the regular glovebox extension door and fasten a garmin motorcycle mount directly to it. That is the best setup for a garmin gps we have found, and we have been doing it that way for a few years now on all our Ski-Doos. Check out this video where we outline our Garmin Zumo install step by step: th-cam.com/video/sQhA3c25I9g/w-d-xo.html
Cheers, Jesse
What size phone fits in there?
Most sizes of phones should fit. Cheers, Jesse
Can you install this accessory without removing the entire hood of the GEN 4?
Hey Peter. You can if its just the glovebox extension. But because it has power coming to it you have to remove the hood to get to the plug n play connections. Cheers, Jesse
