In classical Irish dance the arms are straight by the side, the fingers are curled in to the palms, thumbs over, the back is very straight and the chin is slightly lifted. It is a very particular posture. Very lovely and makes the dancers seem airborne on their flying feet, it looks effortless, weightless. You don't see it much anymore.

@@LadyKhiaani Yup, her shoes had the metal toe plates, which is common to tap. His shoes were the "Jig shoes" or "Heavy shoes" which have wooden heels and wood on the sole of the toe box. Plus his footwork was definitely the Irish style, more exaggerated foot movements, where hers were smaller and closer to the ground, common to tap. Though, they were both dancing an Irish jig, but she's definitely the tap dancer who is learning some Irish dance.

Surely you'd have to be born in Ireland to be fully Irish? If you were born in Ireland, then you'd also be European, being that America is its own continent? Sooo... European or American? Many white settlers in America were from the European Continent as many of us know. I'm not insisting that it's in ANY WAY less "honourable" (I can't think of the correct word 😂) that you have Irish roots but were born in America, btw! I have a friend from NF, lives in St John's and she has Irish roots, but born in newfie. I've never heard such a thick Irish accent outside of the country itself, anywhere. Was quite strange when mixed with a thick Canadian one. Plus any connection to Ireland is jut awesome! Wonderful culture and amazing history. Run with it for sure!

Making my Eyes Leak. Happy to see such Joy and Energy. I started learning Irish & Scots music 30 years ago, met a lot of musicians in Chicago pubs, learned a bunch, even got to fiddle w Liz Carroll at a pub way out on the West side. I've played a LOT, just never played for dancers.
