Budgies are honestly so underrated. They're just as smart as other parrots but most people don't know that so they never train them. I've seen trained budgies. They're very smart.
Yeah you can teach them to speak

@@Dell-ol6hb budgies may be little but they surely can get pretty loud especially when you have several really active ones that love to carry on , i have two and they are ear piercing at times and i can't talk on the phone in the same room because they drown out my talking , the noise gets really bad when they play with plastic swing toys cause they pull on the toy then let them go slamming against the cage bars.

That had happened to me a couple of years ago and till this day i still cry, but thinking that they are in a better place makes me stop crying of sadness.
Poor little Azure. That must have been hard for you. I'm only a few years older than you and first got 2 budgies when I was 15. One spooked out and flew away the same year I got her. It was hard for me dealing with that loss. I cried a lot and hardly got enough sleep. I dreamt of her coming back to me but realized that would never happen whenever I woke up from that dream. Fortunately though I was able to recover not long after cuz of my family's support. The other one is roughly 2 years old now. She's sweet and energetic and also very aggressive/bitey. I nearly lost her to egg binding, thankfully I could still turn to a facebook group for help. Birds can deteriorate quickly when they get sick, at least that's what I hear. I know this is too late but when you recover and wanna get a new bird, join facebook groups catering to parrot/avian first aid if something goes wrong with your little fella. These groups are created for bird owners who can't go to a vet (either the vet is closed or unavailable in your local area). They can be a life saver. Next time don't wait til you can go to a vet, act immediately if you can. There's no avian vet where I live which is a big shame.
@@aafia_rxh your budgie wouldn't want you to be so sad, if there's a heaven he would be the first thing you'd see there ,know someday the last memories you'd remember your bird by won't be their last days, but it would be all the fun he had while he was in your care. I feel like a lot of these stories began with "my boyfriend was...." or "my husband was..." LOL
Most likely since boys can get really unresponsive to their wife's/GF's animals
And a lot of "my son", not so much "my daughter" I've noticed. If the men in your life aren't animal nuts, don't trust them lol.
My budgie has that same toy in her cage right now and started chirping along with Zorro.
Cheers to all the vets and vet techs who see and treat birds and exotics. Not everyone wants or can have a dog or cat so this show displays what invaluable services these professional people provide.
This is why cats need to be kept in doors. They contribute too much to the decline of bird species. If they want to go outside, their owner should keep a watch on them. That way a cat won't be run over or attacked by some other animal while wandering alone. And also why cats should not be allowed in the same room as birds. Same goes with different pets.
I say this all the time but salty cat owners keep ignoring the facts.
@@Avis-Finch on top of that cats get injured so much outdoor. Most people who own outdoor cats are too lazy to give the cat the enrichment it needs to stay indoors
@@justjello7599 THIS!! You're so right and it says a lot about the owner.
There are cat harnesses out there, but people are too lazy to walk them.
Here in Australia it's actually illegal to let cats roam free around the neighbourhood in some places! Sadly people don't follow it, wish it was more regulated.
An indoor cat can live up to 20 years, an outdoor cat can die at any age, cars and everything can just kill them. If a cat owner truly cares and loves their cat they would want them in their life for long and give them a long beatiful life and not expose them to every threat existent. For the cat and the birds in the local ecosystems all around the worls is much better to keep them inside
I have an African Grey and he’s the only thing stopping me from having a cat. My dad grew up with budgies - I think they’re super amazing. Birds are delicate and so intelligent, don’t put them in harm’s way via a cat or a dog.

Naughty kitty! Hope the lil budgie gets well soon 💖
Probably the cat didn't even mean to hurt the birdie, but cats are just too rough playing
@@GandalfTheTsaagan get real, cats kill
@@GandalfTheTsaagan not true at all. Cats are predators, you won’t ever see one just ‘playing’ with a bird. That cat’s intention was to eat the bird. I don’t know what kind of playing you’ve seen that includes getting carried around in a cats mouth before it eats you.
@@TheFluffyTheropod If the cat wanted to kill and eat the parakeet it wouldn't be here in this video to begin with, less so with just a cut
If you play with a cat without toys you will end up full of scratches and bites, and these will be nastier deppending on how trained or rough it was
Doesn't mean that it was trying to injure/maim you (esp if you're closer to it)
If what you said was an universal truth for domestic cats, they wouldn't be able to live together or play with eachother, since wild cats are mostly solitary and extremely territorial
@@GandalfTheTsaagan luckily the owner of the budgerigar was able to free him from the cat’s mouth before he was killed. It is true that some cats don’t hunt as much as others, but you can never trust a cat near a parrot. It’s just too risky, even if you completely trust the specific cat. It’s just what cats do, and that’s also why domesticated cats are such a big problem where I live. If you let them outside, most cats will hunt the wild birds. Some hunt way less than others, but they’re just really unpredictable. Cats are also known to “play” with their food after it’s caught and unable to get away. It’s just the instincts of a cat to chase and kill anything of a budgie’s size, and they won’t pay attention to it otherwise. A cat that doesn’t hunt at all will most likely not do anything more than look in a birds direction, but no matter what, they will never play together without the intent to kill. Trust me, I wish this wasn’t true. It’d make my life a whole lot easier, as I live with over 20 parrots and a cat. I love them all equally, and will never dislike a cat just because it’s doing what it evolved to do. I just don’t ignore the fact that they can and likely will do that if given the perfect opportunity. If you don’t believe what I’m saying (which is fine, you’re entitled to your own opinion) just do a bit of research on keeping cats and birds together and you’ll see what I’m talking about
This is exactly why you should not keep birds and cats in the same house.
i can’t decide if i agree with this or not because it’s a good point and you never know what cats are going to do but if you are super careful i don’t think having a cat should stop you from having a bird
@@Bussyhandler in my opinion it absolutely does. I don't take any risks when it comes to my birds safety
@@Bussyhandler so you are willing to risk a poor birds life!? and nobody can be with their birds 24/7 to protect them better to only 1 of them
@@Bussyhandler Even if you were extremely careful, there's always the chance that the owner, or their husband/boyfriend/kids/visitors will slip up in some way. There's always going to be that one time the cat slips through the door at the right moment. I would love it if my outdoor cat was indoors, but I can't because of my budgie. This cat is a seasoned hunter, and she would no doubt kill my budgie if she had the chance. I do love both, so I would probably adopt barn cats. They will stay out of the house, but will stay safe and sheltered in a barn
Honestly yeah. Or just small animals and dogs/cats in general. I grew up with dwarf hamsters and I'd love to have one again, but I have two big dogs who would probably eat it if I got one. Do I miss having them? Absolutely. But it's for the best.
I had 2 parakeets and one somehow got out of her cage and my cat got to it. Sadly, my cat killed her. I have got another bird to keep my living bird company after my others birds death. Now I have to keep an eye on my cat when she's around my birds, and make sure my door is closed when I'm gone.

This is why I don't want cats when I move out, I have 7 budgies and I'd be devastated if one of my mom's cats were to get in the same room and attack one of them, my budgies are my babies, in my opinion cats aren't really good pets as they just seem to do more harm then good, for right now I'm just careful when I go in and out of my room and I make my cats go downstairs every time I spot them upstairs just to be sure.
Edit: I definitely do not have the same views as I did 2 years ago, while I still don't let my cats in my room I love them and they can be amazing pets, especially if kept indoors, I actually would love to foster cats one day if I ever have the room and proper space, I don't have the same birds as I did before (rehomed) but eventually I ended up getting 3 new ones after awhile

So you have a cat and a bird as pets. And what do you expect?
You can easily have both as pets. It’s completely fine as long as the birds aren’t out around the cat, as that’s just idiotic. I’ve owned both a cat and parrots at the same time for my entire life, and have never had even the slightest bit of trouble.
@@TheFluffyTheropod I wouldn't do it tho. One day you might regret it.

Agreed, if you have birds, it's safer just to own birds. There is always potential for harm, no matter how diligently you plan.
I mean, I've had both cats and birds for years and nothing has happened. My birds have their own room where cats are not allowed in and that's it. You can safely keep them both as long as they can't interact with each other.

DOG CAN ATE IT!! i saw my dog was tried ate my budgie so my budgie fly away, im glad it didn't ate
Very true. My budgie once escaped from his cage (before being hand tamed) and my dog tried to bite him. Luckily, I grabbed my dog and using a pillow case I got him safely back in his cage. Birds and other animals, especially predator animals really shouldn't be let loose in the same room together.
Wow nine times out of ten,a cat bite is fatal to birds,he has a strong immune system,I would breed him to possibly get a stronger strain of birds.
not everyone is interested in breeding - it can lower their life expectancy

Budgies and cats should never be in the same room if they are lose even while being monitored since stuff like this can happen. It's usually best not to have prey and predator animals together. Be careful!
You've just got to make sure the budgies have their own room that the cats cannot access and be so, so careful to avoid accidentality letting a cat into the bird room. If you can set up a double door system do that.
