Such a tragic loss. But he would have wanted us to throw down in his honor. Here goes to a legend.

Little Richard was the OG adlib king. When the say he’s an architect, it’s because other artists “borrowed” his very prominent choruses and whooos and howls on the tracks. He wrote for some and inspired others. The Beatles opened up for him lol. He was a force, and a trailblazer. And that energy was off the top.
A real legend.... oh and he’s very out there Rudy was a man, just saying haha. But it was coded. He was one that forefront of that movement as well. Didn’t really speak about his lifestyle but just quietly did his own thing. I can respect that too.
Also check out his gospel music. It’s really good.
    RIP to a legend

God bless Little Richard. May he rest in peace. As an 80 year old white gal growing up in Detroit, I enjoyed so much of that era with great talent. Little Willie John, Little Eva, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers and many more great singers. It was so much fun. My favorite group was that Penguin singing Earth Angel

My Father & Uncle Bill went to see Little Richard live back in the day at the Uptown Theater in Philadelphia. They just happened to be at the right time to see the early acts of rock & roll. They saw them all: Little Richard, Chuck Berry, James Brown & Famous Flames, etc. You name it, they seen them. Both are gone along Little Richard. They are ripping up in Heaven. Do some Doo Wop please!!! Frankie Lyman and The Teenagers are good. Take care and keep rocking!!

I saw Little Richard in 1969 and then 30 years later. Richard played the piano. Gotta watch a live video. What a legend. I was 3 in 1957; wow, I’m old. Richard’s and James Brown’s hair was called a “process.” LOL. Bit of trivia: Jimi Hendrix played in LR’s band at one time.

Great reaction I grew up listening to Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. In Detroit in the 50's you could only find him on the "black" AM stations, took a couple of years to get on main stream (white) AM. On first hearing him it changed forever the music I listened to, you have no idea how different this was back then and how scandalous to our parents. A lot of radio stations banned him, but we could find the 45's in some record stores. Thanks for doing this homage. Both Richard and Lewis both destroyed the piano.

Rock and roll was short, simple, catchy and was about having a good time. Richard rocked the pompadour with the pencil thin moustache with the stage outfits. That whole era is pretty much gone now, the only original rock and roller still around is Jerry Lee Lewis.

Little Richard is playing a piano on this. Electronic keyboards like the Hammond organ and various electric pianos existed in 1957, but they were mainly jazz instruments. Rock/R&B/pop musicians didn't really start using them until a few years later.

The first amplified keyboard debuted in 1955. It was a Fender Rhodes commonly called Rhodes. It was gradually introduced into modern music towards the end of the 50s but in the 60s it was used more and more. Then of course it gained popularity and was heavily used in music from then on.

He taught Paul McCartney how to do the Wooo. Saw Paul and Richard at a piano, not a keyboard, and Richard was telling Paul he had to be a little sharper, Paul tried again, Richard said he had the pitch, now he needed a little more energy. They had a Little Ricard on the Simpsons who said he taught Paul to do the Wooo so it was good to see a video of them actually doing it.

I'm familiar!!! I'm not white, I'm Beige!!!! My wife tells me that all the time, anyway. I like what you said, Tasha, about the TIME this was released. If black people had 15 minutes to dance, rock out, and forget for a brief moment about the oppression, it was welcome! The parents huddled inside and worried while their kids danced, learned and worked their asses off to try and better their situation. Many black people died for this music!!! Shit, I don't want to bring this happy shit down, so I'll move on. My 3 favorite Little Richard Penniman tunes... Baby Face, Lucille, The Girl Can't Help It. My wife can't tell you her favorites cuz she don't know anything except HIS NAME!!! Yeah, I'm everywhere. I said it before," If it rocks, I'm probably into it", and Little Richard kicked a ton of ass!!! RIP Richard Wayne Penniman... You are so pretty and you are so loved!!! Without this man, would we even have had the Beatles? I was out on my deck last weekend and played a 6-pack of Little Richard for all my neighbors, whether they liked it or not. I then transitioned into Slayer, but that's what I do. What a showman. We'll never see anyone like him again. Tasha's right. Piano, Organ, Harpsichord... maybe a Moog, but I think this song pre-dates that as well. You guys ought to react to some Doo-Wop, Surfer Music... you know, old shit! At least you'd have 1 person leaving comments! I like a lot of that stuff. Peace guys... And thanks for doing this. Farewell to a GOD!!!

Heard 1950s live rendition of "Good Golly Miss Molly." L'il Richard on piano: 🔥. Chill bumps: A whole azz vibe. I love doo wop & don't remember AM radio music b4 1967 (tho I heard it for a few yrs beforehand). For my money, old school bros who grew up sangin' in church or on the corner (doo wop) r the(e) legends. Their blues, soul & R&B begat funk which begat rap & hip hop. 1950s-1970s: Tightest harmonies & vocals, ever. Not to mention the R&O the 1940s-1980s African-Americans overcame. They altered global culture. #Heavy
