Lyrics:
I, I went off to the right
Without saying good goodbye
Where does it go from here?
Is it down to the lake I fear?
Ay ay ay ay ay ah
Ay ay ay ay ay ah
Then I call
Ring, ring, ring, ring
La la love plus one
Ring, ring, ring, ring
When I call love
Then I call
Ring, ring, ring, ring
La la love plus one
Ring, ring, ring, ring
When I call love
Love plus one
How about that, 40 years later and I still know every word
That's so brilliant!
And it was my first ever single i bought as as child, with Heyward's gleaming presence on teen magazines !!
I never understood all the words 🤷
Yup....
I know that when I was at work these young employees heard this on the radio.... They were amazed that I knew all the words to the song. They couldn't believe that this song was so cool and yet from a whole lifetime ago !! Geesh...I miss that. Song still fun l!!
The 80s when ALL bands could really play.
Left school in this year, 82 was a brilliant year for music.
I believe no other song captures the fun and joy of the early 1980s than this!! Awesome!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
I wish I could go back to the 80s
I wish I could go back to the eighties, but only if I could undo at least three major life choices to end up in a better place now.
I wouldn't want a replay of my self- imploding life even for a decade of marvelous music and fun times.
Love it but crazy to think that 40 yrs before this it was 1942. 🤯
Mad innit!
That's what I was thinking I was 18 in1982 now I'm 58 how the f#ck did time fly??
That's crazy but so true 👍.
These Boys understood and completed the assignment. 🙌🏽❤️💯
I was blessed to see them live in New Jersey a few days ago with ABC and Howard Jones and they were all still so amazing!!!
Im 31 and didnt know this band even existed til a month ago when i accidentally heard this on an old top of the pops now i know every word to about 5 songs and constantly have them on repeat. What talent, shame they split up they could of been one of the biggest of all time
I was 7 years old apparently when this video was made and I grew up in Europe so I also stumbled upon it the other day and it sounded familiar. Such a cute feelgood song, I played it in my car for the past few days 😄
Very poignant for me. Love + 1. I was pregnant at the time with my first child. But had a miscarriage in January 1983. So my + 1. Died. But I still love this song. Its a bitter sweet memory fòr me.
I was only 9 year's old in 1982. Remember bopping to this Thursday evening time 7pm TOTP's with the older siblings. Good times and good memories ❤
Nick looks absolutely gorgeous here but then again he always does ❤😊 this takes me back to a carefree world where music and your favourite bands were all that mattered
Look at that baby face. I loved Nick
Let's talk about perfect pop
I was 13 in 1982, hormones racing all over the shop, this didnt help😂 fab song n fab times ❤
God nick was and is soooo handsome 😮
He is so cute. ❤😁
I wish I could've been there. Short-lived, but what a band!
I can't even explain how much I loved this song and Nick Hayward . Had posters all over my walls. I wanted to marry him .
Same and I still want to marry him 😂
I Don't
What a great song!
What a great sound!
It has a nice beat and it’s easy to dance to
Ghey song
Such a great time to be young. The best music .. 🎉❤
what?, humanity actually made music that was soothing. And made you want to dance!
Plenty of songs like that in the 80s and 70s.
This was our life in the 80's. Why do you think we want to go back? 😂
Brings back memories of such happy music times 🎉 when the charts meant everything, waiting to see who was number 1 on a Saturday evening, pastel sweatshirts and shorts...such a great band.
Its my understand Top of The Pops was NOT live...this sounds exactly like recording lol....great song
Yeah - no way he's singing.. but love to hear it anyway.
I graduated in 82 I wanted to dress just like Nick Heyward 1982 was the Golden Era of MTV noticed how cool the haircuts and clothes
That bass line!
I loved 1982 one of my best teen years awesome song loved it then still do now.
Xylophone F*CK YEAH!
I adored Nick in the day,so cute and cheeky.Loved this band.
Man!! .. I play this for my girlfriend when she had a bad day a work.. lol!. Always makes her happy❤
This is better than 95% of the shit being produced today
can I get a 100%?
Absolute truth

Very very true
You ain't lying!!
Nick heyward, very cool
Epic F.......G Legends.... ❤😊
Best Time, Thank u god.
Great track. Happy days.
Nick Heyward had the hairstyle I attempted to have, yet never quite accomplished.
Always a tight song
💛 I was 12 years later I see that my life has been.a pawn of abuse. What a fraudulent wicked fraudulent world we live in. God bless the true lights.
Nick is such a cutie pie.❤😊
Great song from 82.
Loved this song,my youth.
Give love some soul
If I may be quite so bold
Where does it go from here?
Is it down to the lake I fear?
Ay ay ay ay ay ah
Ay ay ay ay ay ah
Then I call
Ring, ring, ring, ring
La la love plus one
Ring, ring, ring, ring
When I call love
Love plus one
I'm talking the day off now.
Hit in the river 😎
I was at university with the sax player Phil. His melodic lines make the song.
Late, but correct. The sax makes this song.
What a great song. I remember it and loved it. In fact I sang it in the mirror and practiced air guitar and saxophone 🎷
Loved this song 🎧 +1.
This sold more copies than a lot of number ones from the same time period.
This was a cool band/never listened to them until my sister gave me her old cassettes from the '80's !!!###
Love Top of the Pops and this is a super 1982 Christmas Special, great Haircut 100 song too!!
Nick and that magical deep bass. What a beautiful tropical vibe.
Love the song but this isn’t live.
Of course it was that’s definitely haircut 100 😊
A wonderfully authentic band, in an era of growing electronica! They had an incredibly successful and creative time in '81-'82, and no-one then could've guessed at the tensions ripping the band apart behind the scenes at this point...this is an interesting clip to see, as Nick Heyward left the band shortly after this, in January '83. (Possibly their final TV appearance as a six-piece, before the group splintered?)
Those eyes oh my X
I just had a flashback from my early teens, or maybe I just dreamt it. We knew nothing of Top of the Pops in the USA, but I vaguely remember seeing a show late Saturday night called "Twiggy's Juke Box", obviously from the UK and of course hosted by Twiggy. It seems similar to this clip with the live audience and such. I find nothing on TH-cam. Someone please tell me if I'm out of my mind or not.
Remember Look-In?
I ❤ the video wearing tarazan gear if I remember right took inspiration from tight fit
Nice Gretsch Nick.
Quality song
Love it . I gave my vinyl album of Haircut 100 to my bff's little brother who was so into the group it was untrue - this was a good few years later. He was sadly killed by a maniac flatmate. I always wonder who got the album.. I know he kept it wherever he moved...
That was the best!🤓👍
I'm still waiting for him to marry me.. 😅
My happy place! ❤❤
No worries this is on one of my favorites.
This is one of my favorite songs from the 80s I love it. But I don't think that it was a live performance 🤔
Hi. I love me video vevo extract concert Live 😉😇🥰🤗💗💖🤙👌👏👍thanks for posting
Nick 😍❤😍
41 years later I can’t figure most of it. No matter. 🇨🇦+1
Class
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you!
Young Nigel Farage
PURELY FUN MUSIC .....
Was this their last ever TV appearance? They split up within weeks of this - Nick revealed years later he was depressed and even felt suicidal at the time and couldn't cope with the pressure of being a pop star.
Oh no! Well they all look super young. Those years are tough when your life changes quickly.
@@josiecamilo7098 Their career was incredibly short lived for such a talented group. Four UK top 10 singles in under a year. Nick said he simply couldn't handle the stress of being in a successful band or the sudden fame, it completely freaked him out and that's why they split up so quickly.
@@ronaldobrien6870 That's a damn shame! Nick was so talented!
@@nancyharabedian7293 I believe Nick's solo hit 'Blue Hat For A Blue Day' was intended to be a Haircut 100 song, so at least we got to hear one more Haircut 100 single!
@@ronaldobrien6870 True!
Same here
Still a good song lead singer looks like
The kid from Home alone
Is that Macaulay Caulken singing
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Macaulay Culkin?
live?
At the 2:54 mark the sax player isn't even playing-LOL. Great tune though.
The sax player is called Phil. Marc is the percussionist, which he used to teach at Goldsmith's College. 😊
Great band, great sound! Pelican West is the best album ever! Bold statement I know but just my opinion!
Me gustaría saber qué fue de nuestro estimado nick, alguien sabe que pasó con el.
Vivito y coleando, ha vuelto a juntar la banda y están de gira
MTV before Madonna.
Jim Burrows? lol
Sax, sax and more sax.
Sax appeal for sure.
Home Alone
The leader singer looks about 15
This is not live music
Funk Daddy's Not🍔
Robert Downey Jr on LEad Vocals?
Love the instruments!!! Today's music SO POORLY CREATED...no effort in harmonizing instruments and vocals...#LoveMy80's.
why did he lip sync?? he has a great voice
It was about Argentinan Soldiers being sent to their Deaths by General Galtiieri.A protest song.ayayay means No en espanol..
No
Er Yes.
@@swimdeep189Er no, lol.
@xebio6 ok you know best.
@@swimdeep189Yes, I know best. The tune was written before the start of the Falklands war. Ayayay does not mean "no" in Spanish.
No musical variety show put it out like TOTP, lip synching I could tolerate because it's a shiteside better than the theatrics gone on today
Some pretty half-ass lip syncing happening too.
Too BAD this was LIP SYNCHED 🤔😳😆🤣⁉️
😭 P r o m o S M.
Playblack
I forgot how shit they were.!.
Playback
Shit is so clearly lip sync
That was the idea. On TOTP, they were told to mime, most protested by 'playing up'!
So what? This is 40 years ago.😂
