I love this! I saw them last week (with Howard Jones and ABC) in Los Angeles, and I wish Haircut 100 could have played a lot more songs - Nick was clearly having a great time. Took my 27 year old son and he's now a big fan!
I saw them in San Diego last Wednesday & clearly Nick, Les & Graham were having a BLAST!! Nick was smiling, NO beaming from ear to ear!! 😁😁😁 They were so gracious and approachable after the show too! I wonder why Blair didn't come though? 🤔🤷🏾♂️

The live version is incredible! Hadn't seen it until now and they sound great! I love how Amber is so quick to identify the story behind the lyrics and often times see something in the lyrics that we don't. Clearly, Nick never thought about it that way. Bravo!

This song brings so many memories when I was living in England during the 80s. I always found Haircut 100 as a palette cleanser compared to some of the punk rock bands of the time. You should check out "Nobody's Fool" & "Fantastic Day". Nick Heyward was also a solo artist. I hope you can check out "Whistle Down the Wind" which was a favorite of mine. Great job on the interview. OMG this takes me back! I adored Haircut 100 back in the day, and also Nick's solo album after Pelican West (a lovely summer album). Loved the Love Plus One updat, but the original was faster and the sax solos were amazing. So happy you interviewed Nick. He's as charming as ever. Thank you!

One of my favorite bands from the early 80’s. But there were honestly so many amazing things happening in music at that time. Post punk, new wave, new romantics, rockabilly, ska, two tone, electronic music. There were just so many fascinating new sounds. The bands from that era are still with us and so many of our children are now listening to them too.

I remember this song. It didn't play on pop radio for very long because it was in the top 40 for just maybe three weeks. I had recorded the billboard top 40 radio show one week while it was in the count down and would listen to it for the next year long after you didn't hear it anymore. I still bring up that video from time to time on youtube. Always liked that song. Most Americans probably don't remember it, and sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who still checks it out. 1981 was my first rear at uni. Pelican West came out just after Christmas in 1982. They had a great run for a couple of years. Sounding even better now, IMO. You need to try some Thompson Twins now...
The early 80s was a musical magical time in the UK 🇬🇧. There are so many great bands and songs 🎵 from that era. The Cure, Paul Young, The Eurythmics, Simply Red, Duran Duran, The Smiths, Queen, New Order, Tears for Fears, The Human League, The Style Council, Depeche Mode, UB40, Simple Minds, Go West, Level 42. I could go on and on. It's one of my favorite eras of music, just behind the 70s.
Oh my gosh, I had the BIGGEST crush on Nick when I was about 15-16 years old! I played this song over and over and over. Thanks so much for chatting with him! And if you want a song with some STELLAR xylophone, please do "Gone Daddy Gone" by the Violent Femmes. Possibly one of the best xylo riffs in rock music!
I recall hearing this for the first time in the early to mid 1980s on a new radio station dedicated to modern rock. This station didn't last long, sadly, but this song is etched in my memory. Really, one of the greatest of the modern rock era!

Definitely recommend listening to Haircut 100's Fantastic Day, Nobody's Fool or Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl). And from the list above, well, it would be hard to pick one let alone 10 tracks to listen too and I think you guys have reacted to at least 2 of these already, but i'm sure your subs will pick one or two out of this list to listen to.
As a kid, the music and television in 1980 felt slightly dark and dystopian, then in 1981 it felt a little lighter with a lot of socially conscious music with a splash of colour, but 1982 for me as a 15 year old felt like a full on celebration of music. There was so much to choose from and even Top Of The Pops seemed vibrant and colourful. It's hard to explain but that's my take on 3 years of music.

1981 was my first rear at uni. Pelican West came out just after Christmas in 1982. They had a great run for a couple of years. Sounding even better now, IMO. You need to try some Thompson Twins now...

The early 80s was a musical magical time in the UK 🇬🇧. There are so many great bands and songs 🎵 from that era. The Cure, Paul Young, The Eurythmics, Simply Red, Duran Duran, The Smiths, Queen, New Order, Tears for Fears, The Human League, The Style Council, Depeche Mode, UB40, Simple Minds, Go West, Level 42. I could go on and on. It's one of my favorite eras of music, just behind the 70s.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs. Saw Haircut 100 in concert a couple of weeks ago. They were amazing!

I recall hearing this for the first time in the early to mid 1980s on a new radio station dedicated to modern rock. This station didn't last long, sadly, but this song is etched in my memory. Really, one of the greatest of the modern rock era!
The original has always been one of my favorites in my teenage years. This live version is definitely special sound with the strings. Beautiful version!!! Thank you!!!
