Hello... New Subscriber here pal... I had just dropped in to pick up tips on Turmeric growing in the UK and ended up watching a couple more of your vids... Good, Honest Info and advice for the growers here mate... All The Best. Tony
I really needed this information. My gardening fingers are getting really itchy. As an arch procrastinator, I missed the boat for garlic and broad beans last year, so I'm really chuffed to hear its not a complete disaster! I will start all my summer crops indoors under lights later, as I don't have a greenhouse (but I may have to get one!) Thanks for the great content! 😊👍
I found this super helpful thank you. Just did my first chilli in a brew for 24 hours soaking and into my new heated propagator. I can just keep sewing in jan awesome! Aubergine next. onion. lettuce and cauli. then onto the toms in a few weeks. thank you for focusing my sewing plan! good content
Thank you for this summary, this is great! I took inspiration from the ginger and turmeric videos and have planted those in my warm kitchen window sill. Have chilli seeds arriving soon and can’t wait to try out your method. Also, thanks for sharing your “mistakes” (when you didn’t get things planted at the “right” time). It’s super helpful to learn from your experience. ☺️
Wow can't believe how well sprouted your garlic is and those onions on top of that compost pile look great and strong. I really really need to get on with ours but they're promising -9 and snow tomorrow here. I see you use premier seeds direct, they've been great sending stuff out here but sadly no longer can due to brexit.
I think Brexit is going to set us back in more ways than the ordinary person could have possibly thought it would. We had a mild autumn so the got off to a good start
I haven't done any videos specific on interplanting but it is a big part of the way i grow, i use a lot of alliums as art of my pest control methods, last year we had very little aphid damage. I make maention of it in a few videos when i planted things out last year but they are a little sccattered
I need to get going .. I actually started my onions back in September.. I normally start brassicas/onions February in my cold greenhouse.. Starting my soft stem plants at home about this time and not doing them last year definitely made a difference...
Sowed onions yesterday; garlic back before christmas. Am still waiting for my chilli seeds to arrive but will crack on with tomatoes and aubergines. Thanks for the tips 😁
Fantastic content as always very well explained clear and concise…….. 35,000 subs It’s great but with your quality of content I don’t suppose it will be that long before you have 350,000 :-) ps thanks for the reminder on the early sewing of lettuces and a great tip on tomatoes planting them deeper if they get leggy 👌🏻👏👍
Interesting video! I agree about the interplanting 100% here is two experiments for you to try. With the two varieties of potatoes you have. Keep the buckets close to each other and if both types flower at same time, Let the bumble bees cross pollinate them and wait for the fruits to form and collect them soon as they fall off into your hand with out any pressure, Growing potatoes from true seeds is fun. Been doing it for decades! you get potatoes varieties no one else has got. Letting the potatoes fruit and die back naturally will not effect your potaoe harvest, got 11lbs from my last bucket planting only 2 potatoes in that both flowered. Same buckets as yours. Its a bit late now to try this experiment but towards the end of this year plant some Garlic and Onions on Winter Solstice or around the time say from 19th Dec to 22nd but also plant some as you nomrally do then compare the quantity and quality of the produce. All the hard neck garlic planted in 2019 flowered and produced seeds in 2020 plus decent cloves.
Inspiring stuff. Ive just prepped alot of my old pots from last year for next so I may cart some of them down to my green house that came with my new allotment as I hadnt thought about utilising it! Did you say some of the potatoes were just shop bought? Do you have to wait for them to start sprouting before you put them in a pot or can I use some I've got in my fridge? I've ordered some seeds for beds proper but it would be good to get a head start using the greenhouse
