Yeah, I do agree with symbols aren't always important, but we do the same thing, paper/plastic money is a symbol, a symbol of wealth that can be exchanged, it's not like a crown, a sword, not a throne, nor is it a rare beast, but it has meaning to those who listen, the common folk would support aegon over rhaenyra, or even with young griff over Dany because people believe in those symbols, realistically none of those have any actual meaning other than them being rare objects, nobels knows that it's a farce, it's the legacy and belief from the common folk which gives the objects value (also their title, cause saying it's a valyrian sword or saying its the conqouers sword, gives value)
Really profound philosophical point. It kind of reminds me of another argument whereby the objects i.e. things, are just clumps if matter, and what gives us the sense of the world is just the interpretation of the phaenomenon i.e. the name for stuff.
I get that your channel is a "What If" channel, but i do love these kind of videos or character videos more! 😊😊Not to be rude! I know they are more difficult to make! 😅 Thx ❤
Otto would have a field day with the propaganda he could spin about how the old king's dragon chose Aegon because he was meant to be king. Also the Greens would have 2 of the largest living dragons on their side which would cripple Rhaenyra.
As wise man once said: "King is only a king when the people say he is. And if they don't, well, he is just a man with a metal hat who is only in charge because his father wore the metal hat before him."
Thing I always like to remind myself about symbolism within Westeros is they are very much the product of confirmation bias, in-universe. Like the idea that the King who gets cut by the Iron Throne is "proof" that they are unworthy and throne itself is rejecting them as King. This gets used as justification for why the Mad King and certain other despot Targaryan's were bad rulers. Not that, you know, a throne made of literal swords will have a high chance of cutting someone who sits on it 😅 Or that whole "when a Targaryan is born a coin is flipped to see if they will be a just ruler or insane." I can't believe the show had Tyrion unironically believe that to convince Jon to kill Dany.
She would have won easily. We can infer this from daemon Vs aemond deciding the war. If either of them walked out alive the war would have not just tipped but fallen to the Victor. Caraxes and vhagar were the two most powerful living dragons. So if rhanaera had a second on her side let alone her dragon itself, it’s over
Good job bringing your thesis statement back to Varys’ iconic line
“…a shiny Pokémon…” 😂😂 Love it!
Hate how bias the writers are with the factions both have issues and aren’t good
