I've never seen this guy before, so I don't know what kind of "hacker" he is. But this stuff would not be practical or useful for most people / purposes. I suspect he does some rather specialized stuff.
@CLC Yeah. After further review I'd guess he works as a consultant being hired by companies to test on-site security. Its the only reason you'd need most of that gear. Compared to an off-site hacker testing remote vulnerabilities which would mostly be about computers and software hacking tools.
@CLC I think it's legitimate though unlike many TH-cam techbros. It's clearly used. I carry similar kit to this on jobs but I compartmentalise it and carry what I need for that specific job, wouldn't dream carting what he carries around to every job. Key piece of kit he didn't seem to have, but is essential kit for any UK penetration tester who spends hours in DCs... A camping chair and a tiny stealth camping stool. The first for actual comfort, the second for when Sungard, or whomever deem your camping chair a H&S risk and confiscate the chair while you're on site, then you find a rack door to hide behind and deploy your little stool.
That Phillips bit is a "No. 1.5", halfway between a 1 and a 2. I love it also. The bit expansion kits you can buy include normal size No.1 and 2 bits, which while I carry in the pouch, I rarely find need of them. As you said, the 1.5 works for almost everything.
on the note of soldering irons, you can get handheld self contained gas powered versions with a crazy about of tips (from hot cutting tips to the creative wood burning stuff) and they work really well! i found my electric iron wouldn't heat enough to consistently melt solder when outside if it was pretty cold, so not only did it fix the cold issue, but meant i don't need to worry about packing cables. As a cherry on top it added a crap ton of extra tools to my toolbox with all the tips available, while still taking up less space than a wall powered iron when counting the cable as well. mine is by the dremel brand but there are way more out there.
One of the better mobile kits I've seen lately. I'm a little more picky about laptop hardware, but the mainstream OEM makes your triple boot less of a headache and more flexible. Nice work.
I’ve been through a lot of different multitools, but I must say that Leatherman is the best for me (it isn’t for everyone). I own the Wave and the Surge models and the both fit so well for my everyday use.
Carrying a film camera is such a nice easy of disconnecting from everything else 🙌🏽 I’m always carrying my Nikon F3 with me with a 50mm pancake lens and it really gets the creative juices going
Finally, someone acknowledging ESD requirements. The amount of videos I see on TH-cam where they take absolutely no ESD precautions is beyond belief. The best one is when they take motherboard or similar out of a shielded bag the put it on top of the bag 🤦♂

Fellow cyber security professional here nice to see your kit, actual useful kit too not just some arse playing hackerman. 10 years in and after learning that heavy gear just breaks backpacks and my back, I pack for the job these days. Just like your organiser bags, I use bubm packing cubes and canvas zippable toolbags to split my kit appropriately. Agreed on the Ethernet cable, moving to extendable cables and straight through couplers was game changing, beats untangling a mess of 3m patch cables at the bottom of your bag. Oooh that oscilloscope looks interesting. Tip on the camera front, that is a beautiful camera you have there, but consider picking up something like a canon powershot superzoom compact. I used to rock an SLR on jobs but it was hardly covert. The powershot however is just as at home long lensing the WiFi password through an office window from 300 metres away or discretely palmed in your hand used to video at a high frame rate an office entrance on a walk by for later frame by frame review. Oh and the shark jack... I absolutely love using mine just for bypassing DLP. Mine runs a fairly simple payload, just runs up a dhcp server, SMB, NFS, ftp, http (with PHP upload script). Plug it into a host and use the "Captive portal/hotspot" option for bypassing enforced VPN connections. Bam you've got access to all the tools you need and can get your screenshots off of the target rig for evidence. :)

Swissgear makes great backpacks for IT travelers, and I highly recommend the Executive 5700 series. They're a fantastic deal for under $80 for most. I've carried mine for over 6 years, and gave away a similar 5-year old model 3900 series Swissgear to a young tech in need before I got my current pack. Perfect for EDC and big enough to travel across country as a carry-on flight bag. The quality of fabrication is unmatched by bags in the $50-100 dollar range. The straps & steel reinforced carry handle allows these bags to hold up to 50lbs if needed, or nearly empty like you pack your daily Hacker bag. Your Doomsday Database is a great idea (I have a 3Tb too), but I recommend you store & carry it in at least one Mylar ziplock bag (two is best) to protect from moisture as well as potential EMP electrical interference. Yes, you can get through TSA with your external HD in Mylar (so long as it's not energized). Replace the Anker battery with a solar supplemented equivalent, like the PowerPort series, or smaller 1500MAhr can be had for under $35. For your laptop, do yourself a HUGE FAVOR, and get a padded Sleeve. Target Bex sleeves can be had for very little. Your Hak5 kit is flawless, with all the usual suspects.
Targus Spruce Ecosmart 17" is the best backpack I've ever owned. And the Sabrent Rocket Nano is the best external SSD I've ever seen. Expensive, but blazing speeds and unbeatable portability. Check them out on Amazon if you are interested!
I prefer messenger bags. I also have a service dog, so I need a spot to store a container of water/food for him and two collapsable bowls. The Timbuk2 Especial rocks it for me. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X9NXKIY It has just enough pockets, without going excessive. I've got caught in downpours before and everything has stayed completely dry. I love the magnetic connections for the straps. Timbuk2 puts a lot of thought into the design of their bags and it shows.
My only problem is the price on the Hak5 goodies, as well as I'm in a totally different industry to justify them. I do have a handful of Arduino Pro Micro's on the way for a macro keyboard project. Might try making a rubber ducky clone. Littering a parking lot with Rubber Duckys gets expensive at $50/ea. Making your own for under $5 makes for a more usable tool.
I use a Leatherman skeletool for my multitool and my knife, it has the same screwdriver setup, except it has a spot for a second double bit, do I have two seizes for Philips and two sizes of flathead. I love it cuz its so light and comfortable.
The only extra thing i would add is a strong neodymium magnet. They are incredibly handy to bypass electronic keypads (to open doores or even some safes).

Full of useful stuff. I had to split my kits up based on tasks, but the daily (also an Ogio) has a lot of this stuff in it. I would caution anyone out there who doesn't have at least a business card for a pen-testing outfit on you at all times: in several states your picks could be confiscated, and you could be charged with possession of burglary tools if you just roll around with them on you. His dooms day device is just movies, music and tv shows. also he did mention ISO for different operating systems. Nothing special. The biggest tool a hacker has is his PC
Two things, I love how you wrap your laptop cord. Also, I wouldn’t really worry about getting a spooling Ethernet cable. I literally just cary a short 2 foot run of cat 6 a.
And not a single USB-to-RJ45 or DB9 serial console cable... Do you really combine that usb hub with your coiled cat 6 to console into firewalls, routers, and switches? Do you not have a command cheat sheet for various manufacturer CLIs? Also no gloves, headlamp, snacks, or caffeine pills? We must do very different kinds of security work, haha. What are your thoughts on a Raspberry Pi 4b 8GB? I have found my Zero Wireless to be effectively useless for all my needs.
This advice is mostly about weight reduction rather than improvements in functionality, but I'd recommend a pinecil over a ts100 for the usb-c port (while still taking dc5525) and anker's got a 65w usb charger that's really small for the output, though it is a wall wart style power supply. aside from that, a small 3 outlet powerstrip and a 3-2 prong adapter, i guess. nothing really game changing.
Cool , love the hak5 kit but most of your equipment has deprecated utility, especially the pineapple nan0, might I suggest an upgrade, else really awesome kit bro

Would have liked to see you go deeper into your hak5 toolkit lots of goodies in there. Are you sort of like an independent pen tester contractor or something? Seems like you have about 3 jobs based on this toolkit. I’ve never seen a security eng carry an oscilloscope on them 😂. Based on those tools and the ifixit kit I’d say you were an electronics guy. You said you’re in a data center a lot that’s funny I actually revoked access to our security team because they kept plugging their stuff into the core network switches lol. @@givdb5513 what the actual hell are you talking about? How does resetting the "clock" let you into a windows installation? it's good to know these things exist. Thanks for the video. By the way, I'm sure it's not very likely, but in case you are stopped and searched by the police, how would you explain these tools you carried with you?
@serverleaks You are giving the "beat cop" too much credit. Most of the tools would look like pretty standard "tech gear" to the uninitiated. Even the "lockpicking" stuff has legit uses, otherwise it would not exist. Generally, cops don't care about this type of stuff, they are just glad there isn't a gun or a bomb in the backpack. For example, I carry a set of 18" bolt cutters in my van, while they have nefarious uses, I have never been asked about them. The cops usually just tell me to slow down and send me on my way. Incidentally, they are there to cut padlocks with, but legally, so again, no problem.

Wouldn't invite this guy over my house.
I wouldn't want to be connected to the same internet

Awesome! I really like that how he is graceful and credits his family and his gf.
That Phillips bit is a "No. 1.5", halfway between a 1 and a 2. I love it also. The bit expansion kits you can buy include normal size No.1 and 2 bits, which while I carry in the pouch, I rarely find need of them. As you said, the 1.5 works for almost everything.
The indisputable most Important part of this edc is the cat
Him: “Chunky boi”
Me: “hey that’s not very ni-......oh he’s talking about his cat”
I recommend ventoy. It's a multi boot util that allows you to store multiple ISOs on one drive. I have 25gb of ISOs on my USB disk and I love it.
on the note of soldering irons, you can get handheld self contained gas powered versions with a crazy about of tips (from hot cutting tips to the creative wood burning stuff) and they work really well! i found my electric iron wouldn't heat enough to consistently melt solder when outside if it was pretty cold, so not only did it fix the cold issue, but meant i don't need to worry about packing cables.
I love the f3! I had an f3 hp some years ago and unfortunately sold it. Now I wish I never did. Can't beat the nifty 50
Finally, someone acknowledging ESD requirements. The amount of videos I see on TH-cam where they take absolutely no ESD precautions is beyond belief. The best one is when they take motherboard or similar out of a shielded bag the put it on top of the bag 🤦♂
of all those items, i think that wood pen was the coolest piece in there
Hey Cole! One of my patreon supporters linked me to your page!! Thank you so much for the shoutout on the wifi pineapple (and I totally remember signing that!!!). Hope you're well! :D
Wow, amazing. RIP Revision3.

Would have liked to see you go deeper into your hak5 toolkit lots of goodies in there. Are you sort of like an independent pen tester contractor or something? Seems like you have about 3 jobs based on this toolkit. I’ve never seen a security eng carry an oscilloscope on them 😂. Based on those tools and the ifixit kit I’d say you were an electronics guy. it's good to know these things exist. Thanks for the video. By the way, I'm sure it's not very likely, but in case you are stopped and searched by the police, how would you explain these tools you carried with you?
Assuming that you are stopped, searched, the items were found and identified...nothing that I see is illegal to carry where I live.
Just say you're an engineer
Pack a clipboard? I am told high visability vests look professional too.
