Normally, there is no requirement to write the pitch in daily learning. So you don’t need to worry about it too much. As long as you see a pinyin( they normally will have a pitch on the pinyin) and knowing how to read it. It’s already good! So you want to know where to put the pitch. 1. They must be putting on one of the finals. 2. If the final is consisted with two “vowels" (as what we call it in English) like “ai, ei ui, ao”, we put the pitch on a specific vowel.
“ai” we put the tone on “a”, so it’s “āi”.
“ei” we put the tone on “e” , so it’s “ēi”.
“ui” we put the tone on “i”, so it’s “uī”
No matter what the initial they combine with. āi,ēi,uī, the placement of the tone never changes.
In my video, I basically listed all the combinations of the initials and the finals. So you can take my video as an reference and to see where I put the tone/ pitch. I hope it helps!
