When do I use jiang and when do I use gao su?
讲(jiǎng): has a meaning of expressing in public. 讲故事(gù shì)tell a story. Or tell and teach the things and reasons. 告诉(gào sù)you tell something to someone. Like deliver an information to somebody.
@ChinesewithCottoncaley Ah! I understand completely! Thank you very much. In english there is no difference between those words but im german there are also two words for tell. To tell a story or just to tell. Thank goodness I'm bilingual😂

Hello , I want to learn but I don’t know when to put pitch like this. -،' when I put it you understand what I mean I wish you complete the all lesson to learn thank you
Normally, there is no requirement to write the pitch in daily learning. So you don’t need to worry about it too much. As long as you see a pinyin( they normally will have a pitch on the pinyin) and knowing how to read it. It’s already good! So you want to know where to put the pitch. 1. They must be putting on one of the finals. 2. If the final is consisted with two “vowels" (as what we call it in English) like “ai, ei ui, ao”, we put the pitch on a specific vowel. “ai” we put the tone on “a”, so it’s “āi”. “ei” we put the tone on “e” , so it’s “ēi”. “ui” we put the tone on “i”, so it’s “uī” No matter what the initial they combine with. āi,ēi,uī, the placement of the tone never changes. In my video, I basically listed all the combinations of the initials and the finals. So you can take my video as an reference and to see where I put the tone/ pitch. I hope it helps!
Thank you for your effort and explanation
Thank you so much Cotton!!😊 -Sam

do Chinese learn pinyin as well?
Yes, when we were children, our parents taught us how to talk, and we learned pinyin and handwriting at primary school.
@@ChinesewithCottoncaley I see. In that case, I'll learn it also using your videos. 谢谢
I love ur content please more
Thank you for the support!
i have a question we we write i and put tone on it why we then don't put the dot on letter i ?
Because we have the tone already on there “i”, so we just delete the dot and put the tone directly!
@@ChinesewithCottoncaley ok got it thank you 🥰
i am a lil confuse at this when you wrote xiang ..both i and ang are finals so how do we know where we put tone ? do we have to see the sound (tone of the letter then put tone on letter )?.....
Both of i and ang are finals. So if you see the combination of any initials with iang. You put the tone on “a”. For example , xiāng, liáng, qiáng… If there are two finals, you should put the tone on one of the them. It’s fixed. You will know where to put after you get familiar with pinyin! As long as you see a pinyin and know how to read them, it’s already good!
@@ChinesewithCottoncaley oki..thank you

Thank you very much! The B has sound of "B"all ou "P"lay?
The B has sound of “B”all
Hi, this is a wonderful video but I am confused why "s" and "x" have the same sound, also "q" and "c" is the same, also "j" and "z" are the same sound.
“z” “s”sounds like “z”ip and “s”ad in English. “c” pronouncing the same way as “z”, but the only difference is that you have to send the air out more! “j” focuses on the surface of your tongue, the front part of tongue is raised to the palate. “q”pronouncing the same way as “j”, but try to send the air out from your mouth. “x” your tongue is not touching the palate.
