Euro 2024 is the first time Georgia have qualified for a major international football tournament as an independent nation.
The Kingdom of Georgia is regarded as one of the world's oldest states, lasting for almost a millennia. And on the pitch Georgians were always well represented in the Soviet Union national team.
But now they represent more than just football. Georgia's national team has been drawn into a political scandal.

Mikautadze was signed last year by Ajax which is a good enough team for Europe standards and they loaned him back to France where he became the top scorer in Ligue 1 despite his team being relegated. So surely after this Euros some Premier League or maybe some higher-rated team in Serie A, Bundesliga or La Liga signs him. Him and Mamardashvili.

As a georgian i definitely can say that our team bring us joy that we needed for over 30 years. first time in history georgians experienced Unity that we never had before and that's because we qualify to euro 2024 and experienced strength of football thanks guys no matter you loose or you win -end of fairy-tale is good-(sorry for english)
As a rugby fan Georgians had brought a lot of passion and muscle to our game. Im sad that rugby hasn't reached out to help smaller teams like football has, like with the nations league as the video mentioned
Sometimes I do wonder what would it be like if other European nations joined the Six Nations. I mean, sure, they're the 6 best teams in Europe, but why not let teams like Romania and Georgia just have a chance at facing them?

The clubs pay their wages and want at least 15 games out of the top players which only leaves realistically another 4/5 games they can play without issues.

Kvaratskhelia is definitely a huge talent, but right now he is pretty far from being the greatest Georgian footballer. Georgian players have always been gifted with technique and flair. There have been a lot of amazing players, to name a few Kipiani, Meskhi, Datunashvili, and Daraselia, in the 90s Kinkladze, Arveladze, and many more.
To return to the peak of Georgian football a few things need to happen, especially returning interest to the Georgian league and increasing trust in Georgian players in Europe and this EURO can definitely help with that, for example, many people saw how tireless and amazing Kochorashvili or how creative and technical Chakvetadze is.

On a side not: Their National Team crest/badge of Saint George slaying a dragon on horseback has to be one of the coolest ones I have ever seen. Just for that, I support them in trying to win vs Portugal to go to the next round.

Great video! But just one thing. Not South Ossetia, call it either Samachablo, Tskhinvali region or just Shida Kartli. South Ossetia is an artificial state created by the USSR, it never existed before and was created for the purpose of destroying our nation.

Stalin renounced being a Georgian, he said he was Russian and, in fact, he acted as one. For example, he has only one Georgian speech on record, with all other speeches being in Russian. Also, the great puurge was very heavy in Georgia as well, since Georgia had many notable writers, directors and poets. Oh an about wanting to destroy Georgia, he specifically made sure the Abkhazia and samachablo problem was left unresolved so that he could leverage it in case of crisis. Consideing the above, I'd think he had a hand in destroying Georgia, wouldn't you?

Euope and asia are not separate continents. The divede refers to cultural differences and Georgia is culturally European and is one of rhe first countries in rhe world ro adopt Christianity as its religion.
Argentina and Australia are also "culturally european". That doesn't make them European nations.
Clamouring for the likes of Georgia to join the EU while continually shunning turkey only reinforces the idea that the EU is a white Christian club.
