Areca Palms can be easily propagated. Areca palm pups grow from the mother plant roots and can be easily separated. I'll show you the complete method how to separate the baby pups from the areca palm. Areca palm is also known as Golden Palm. This is the palm propagation video by Sprouting Seeds.
To propagate an areca palm, remove one of the offshoots that grow from its base, keeping its roots intact, and plant it elsewhere. While this is vegetative propagation, it is not the same as growing a cutting. Propagating by cutting means rooting a stem growing from a branch or trunk of a tree.

Not possible! If the roots are damaged, there will be less chances to survive for the baby plant.

take a potted overgrown areca palm with many stalks and frons, take it out of the pot use a axe and hammer --you can split adult plant into 4 sections all will grow after transplant no sawing involved
