We use these wildlife cameras at home and away on our woodland meadow to see what goes on and who visits after dark.
Already in use the Ceymour CY55, CY65 and CY70 so we were very keen to also test the new CY60 to see how it performs and compares with the rest of the range.
The camera arrives well packaged and well presented and is supplied with a webbing strap with clip for fitting around a tree trunk together with a tilting bracket allowing it to be secured to a post or roof via the standard tripod screw fitting in its base.
Build quality is good, as I would expect, and it feels solidly made. Unlike many other brands, just the upper section of the front panel opens via a sturdy hinge to reveal the controls, ie a power on/off/test slider switch to the left and the highly intuitive menu setting adjustments to the right along with an LED panel for playback of recorded images and video. Still images can be recorded up to 24MPX and video up to 1080P, 15fps in AVI format on a SD card up to 32GB of class 6 or higher. The infrared LEDs are red which helps with accurate positioning ie - set up the camera, walk in front and the LEDs illuminate to confirm you're in shot. Eight AA batteries provide the power supply and, based on using other cameras from the Ceyomur range, even rechargeable batteries can last over 3 months during British winter temperatures. Alternatively, there is a DC-in port for permanent power via a DC power supply, not supplied. Our camera was subjected to hail showers, frost and some torrential rain but withstood them all, living up to its IP66 weatherproof rating.
Performance is good with bright clear images and video footage in good daylight and clear mono images and video in pitch black conditions. PIR sensitivity can be adjusted and we found it be respond fast to human or animal movement to ensure all visitors were captured.
This is a good, reliable camera falling into the mid-range offered by Ceyomur and represents excellent value for money as a good entry-level camera for general outdoor use.
Ceyomur offer a wildlife camera for every user: for the best picture and video quality and longer-term unattended usage via 128GB SD cards, then the CY70 camera offers up to 2.7K video at 30fps in MP4 format. The CY65 camera offers 1296P 30fps video in MP4 format along with the added benefits of Bluetooth and WiFi which allows images to be monitored and downloaded remotely via a phone app without disturbing the camera or retrieving its up-to 128GB SD card. For a more basic entry level camera then Ceyomur offer the CY55 20MP, 1080P camera with lower picture quality but the benefit of black LEDs, rather than red, making it ideal for avoiding detection by humans. Please refer to our additional Ceyomur camera reviews on this account - more videos to be added shortly. Note: SD cards and batteries are not supplied.

I bought one yesterday and it only took pictures, how does it choose when to take videos or photos?

It is PIR activated and you can set it to take photos, videos or both.
