Conservation is a conservative position. Republicans should love it.

If it doesn't involve killing Middle Easterners, coddling the wealthy, or spurning the poor, Republicans don't care.

Rust, I'm gonna do you a favor. As someone who's studying eco-geography, I'll tell you, if you didn't know, conservation's the weakest, most conservative oldest part of the green ecology movement. It goes all the way back to Teddy Rosevelt, before even to the late 19th century. You know it's corporate b/c 80% of the funding to environmentalism goes to conservationist groups. If you wanna fight climate change or any other green issue seriously, you gotta start about ending capitalism. If we as a species wanna survive we must switch in the next 50 years to some kinda eco-socialism, it's that simple. Otherwise we're done, b/c there's no way endless accumulation of profit based on the fiction of supply and demand is fundamentally sustainable in and of itself, let alone capable of coexisting with humanity's survival. That's the truth, anyone telling you otherwise doesn't know for whatever reasons or is lying.

Nobody today is saying the climate isn't changing, but it changes all the time. We have winter, summer, day and night. Tide comes in, tide goes out, sun comes up, sun goes down. It's almost like trying to explain where babies come from. Nobody knows.

It is indeed vile and despicable the way some approach being active on a political level while being so blatantly ignorant on a scientific one.

Problem is you dont have to be a scientist to see this is bullshit fake science. It has absolutely nothing to do with science.

Actually, you do. Here, you can start reading for your PhD here: scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&q=global+temperature See you in four years.

If there was a tipping point, at least now we can point the fingers to the people who denied it.
    Just like the old saying:
    Denied it, supplied it.

I watched a segment by Vice on this same topic ... they mentioned that Big Oil is using the same tactics that Big Tobacco used in the 60's & 70's. They instill doubt & lobby hard ...

As is the same tactics used to push this climate fallacy. People just suck it right up. Someone is expecting TRILLIONS in windfall for carbon exchanging.

    • @DjinnV

Fallacy? You have only to look at pictures of anything from sea levels to smog (pre-regulation) to see the evidence of global warming. How can you deny it?

Sure thing, Manish. I think it's this one : news.vice.com/article/hold-how-big-oil-taught-big-tobacco-to-bend-science
      This book is interesting, too:

It is apparent that we cannot reverse this. All we can do now is prepare. move away from the coastline, go higher ground. And hope we serve, again.

The planet is going to do what it is going to do what is is going to do. Everything being proposed in this scam. Does nothing to actually affect the climate. Including spraying heavy metallic particulates into our upper atmosphere. As they do near daily and have for 2 decades. Arguing they are "reflecting" solar radiation. But really they are spraying the population. Argument for why MASSIVE increases in breathing and Immunodeficiency ailments have exploded since ? As an example : we have never had more cases of autism in our entire history.

Why is Global Temperature science a controversial topic????????
Because the average person with no scientific training instinctively knows that climate is very volatile. Yes there are regular patterns, but most people intuitively know that there is a certain degree of unpredictability when it comes to weather.
For example, how much confidence do we place in our 14 day weather forecasts? How about a 28 day forecast? Now lets project that even further to say 30-50 years. Get my point?
No one, including scientists and even meteorologist have a high degree of confidence in there 28 day weather forecasts. Don't forget these forecasts are based on satellite imagery and sophisticated weather models. Yet the accuracy of these forecast models drops dramatically after 7 days. Yet we are to believe that the climate models used to predict global warming are able to predict with accuracy climate 30-50 years from now!
This is why I think the topic of climate change is controversial.

I love science because it helps us find more oil, gas and coal. To quote Metallica '"Gimme fuel, gimme fire, gimme that which I desire!"
