A only discovered George a few time ago, thanks to Chick Corea. Both RI.P. His band play a beautiful composition of Milton Nascimento (brazilian like me) as if they were brazilian musicians! Bad for me for missing him all this time. But it is never too much late to hear and honor all these fantastic artists.
Ronnie Burrage is (and always has been) one of the most lyrical drummers I've ever heard. Yes, superior clock and groove but plays every note/beat/ phrase with purpose! Compositional mastery!
There are very many compositions by George Duke that I am fond of. There are even some among the slower tempo numbers that I've managed to learn. Among the more up-tempo numbers Geneva ranks among my favorite. I love the intricacy of the chord changes. It's a very pretty tune 😎😊❤
