    Thanks for the Video Matteo. I have bought the panasonic 14-42, Canon FD 28mm, Contax Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4 and the Canon FD 70-210 for my BMPCC4k . Thanks to your influence. Im really enjoying them and the camera. I see so many bmpcc4k rigs and lens setup so similar to your everyday on instagram. Its really cool that you're positively influencing the indi-filmaking world. Im gonna buy the canon 16-35mm with a speedbooster next!

    How do you tackle pulling focus and stabilization at the same time? Also why did you decide to go with the 9mm from laowa as opposed to the 7.5mm?

  • @FKfilmphotography
    @FKfilmphotography 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I simply use the metabones xl 0.64x for EF lenses. Then just an M42 to EF screw or FD to EF mount. This means your speedbooster is far more versatile as you can use a wider range. The Laowa is lovely.

      I'm planning on doing the M42/FD to EF speedbooster. Are there any drawbacks on doing this configuration? Do you loose infinity focus or gain vignetting? Sharpness? Thanks!

    • @FKfilmphotography
      @FKfilmphotography 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IsraelGonzalezR not experienced any drawbacks but plenty of benefits including decreased minimum focus distance and wider field of view. Also the dof is shallower than if you used a standard non boosted adaptor.

      Hi, Matteo said in another comment that this doesn't work. Sorry I'm a bit confused as I only use native lenses currently. I'd like to get some of these FD lenses but I also have the Takumar m42 lens. Why do you get shallower dof this way than with using just the FD speedbooster? I'm also wondering about the SLR magic or viltrox speedboosters which seem to only come in EF, but are way cheaper! Any tips greatly appreciated 🙂

    • @FKfilmphotography
      @FKfilmphotography 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AlexDelfont from my recollection of owning a GH5 for a long time, using the metabones would result in an extra stop of light and because one could get closer to a subject (reduced minimum focus distance) the background would be thrown further out of focus. I use the following lenses all m42 screw with the XL on the BMPCC4K: Helios 44-2, Jupiter 9 85mm f2 and the Mir 1v 37mm f2.8. I also love using the 50mm smc takumar f2, all work perfectly you can see some shots on my channel. Zero issues essentially these vintage lenses become EF lenses with the adaptors.

    • @AlexDelfont
      @AlexDelfont 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FKfilmphotography thanks I had read people saying you can't use the EF metabones and then an m42 adaptor too as you can't get to infinity focus but I'm a bit confused about it all!

    I have several Canon FD lenses and EF lenses, as well as a Metabones Ultra EF speed booster to adapt EF lenses to my BMPCC 4K. If I permanently changed my FD mounts to EF, would they become compatible with my EF speed booster? On indie film sets, time is always of the essence, and because the Metabones mount needs additional support to prevent any wiggle with the follow focus, sticking to one speed booster would be much more efficient. Anyone have any idea if this is possible?

    Voigtlander primes, Panasonic f2.8 zooms and Olympus f1.8 primes are how I roll. This gives me sharp corporate looks and classic lower contrast looks, with flexibility for doc work and pinpoint accuracy for corporate. Mind you, the collection costs wayyy more than a handful of Canon FD lenses and a focal reducer! The Canon FD 70-210 looks amazing, though.

    Hello Matteo. Thank you for your great videos. I would be grateful if you could recommend some lens/es to pair with BMPCC (Original)? I have been doing my research for some time now and I found there are quite a few options. I mainly shoot landscapes, architecture and travel videos. I like vintage lenses with character and yet sharp enough. I'm not sure if I should go into ef/fd lenses with speedbooster or into some mft native wide lenses like laowa/slr magic? I currently own flektogon 35mm, and super takumar 50mm (both full frame) but with Bmpcc Og's crop factor (2.88) they would be as tele☻ Thank you in advance. Cheers!

    Hi Matteo, so the 24mm canon with speedbooster is about a 17.mm in mft terms, and then the next focal length you have is the 9mm laowa? Don't you miss everything in-between those? Is there a canon FD lens that can fill this gap?
    Also, how do you find the 50mm1.4 canon FD compares to the Takumar 1.4 ? You've got me revaluating my whole plan with this video!! Thanks :)

    In my opinion original Super 16 and Super 35 cine lenses are the very best choice for BMPCC4K, and no Speedbuster is required. Within the last 20 years I have collected very many Arriflex Zeiss, Cooke, Angenieux and Schneider lenses, but so far I haven't received a BMPCC4K to start my experiences. The camera is not available here in Germany, only very few have arrived. I am always too late to purchase.

    Hi Matteo, great advice as always, I live in Roma and I am also in love with Canon fd lenses, especially the 35-105 f3.5 and the 50 f1.4 but I ended up selling both of them because my Lens Turbo focal reducers don’t fit my Sony fs-100, I was very sad to discover it and I ended up buying Minolta MD lenses that are easy to mount on my other Viltrox focal reducer and all my Sony cameras.

    Have you tried the 24mm with a basic adapter instead of the speed booster? Wouldn't that essentially result in something closer to a 48mm lens? I'm curious your thoughts on this as I'm considering buying the 24mm but the FD to m43 speedboosters aren't available. I'm more interested in this lens for it's look than it's focal length. Something closer to a 50mm might even be preferred in some ways so it might work out. Thanks for the awesome content as always!

    Complimenti per i lavori che mostri sul tuo canale: veramente stupendi!
    Avrei una domanda da porti.. io sto usando delle splendide zeiss contax con la BMPCC 4k e lo speed booster tuttavia, siccome mi serve mantenere l’attacco contax per usarle sulla fotocamera analogica, utilizzo degli anelli adattatori C/Y - EOS. Questo peró mi crea degli enormi problemi con il follow focus perchè l’ottica ha abbastanza gioco da far scorrere i dentini tra follow e ghiera rendendo il sistema pressochè inutilizzabile.
    Conosci per caso delle case che fanno degli anelli adattatori decenti? (So che c’è la leitax che fa il cambio mount ma appunto sostituire il mount non è una soluzione che vorrei tenere in considerazione).
    Grazie in anticipo :)

    I bought this lens for my P4k and I love it. So sharp, amazing image for the price. My only issues is that I can’t adjust the aperture. It’s locked. I watched some tutorials on how to change aperture but when I put the lens back together and mount it to the camera I still can’t adjust it. It appears to be locked around F11 or F16. Do I need to get the metabones speed booster in order to change aperture? I bought the K&F Concept FD to M4/3 Lens Mount Adapter.
    Without being able to change it I either need to crank up the iso or shoot when it’s bright outside. Regardless, for the money, this is a great lens and I’m still getting amazing images as it is. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

    hi Do the 50 mm and the 70mm lens work with the canon mft speedbooster, also I was recommended the .64XL speedbooster is the .71 better?

    • @matteobertoli

      Aminat Odunbaku fd to mft is only .71. You need that one in order to use fd on the pocket

    Hey have you considered to cine mod your lenses. (Not ef Mount conversion, cuz you got the metabones already) i mean getting a focus gear Ring. Front element to make 80mm o.d. and then matte box it up.
    And are you considering getting more fd lenses? Like a prime Tele or something
    Anways as always super informative video. Appreciate it a lot. Just waiting for the bmpcc4k to be available. Waiting since February on my order.

    I was curious about using some canon fd lenses with my pocket 4k and after some researching I've found I can't find any canon sd to micro 4/3 speedboosters in stock anywhere. I can only find the new xl speedboosters for ef mounts but I was told I can't use the fd cameras with ef mounts. Does anyone know why this is or if they know a link on where to get one?

    • @djmx9237
      @djmx9237 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah there are some that are quality like the carl zeiss 18mm but because there are so rare they are much more expensive than normal vintage glass. but there are loads of affordable wide angle lens ranging from 25mm to 28mm and 35mm

      Usually not since those vintage lenses were designed for full frame cameras
