Ennio Morricone was my son's favorite composer. My son passed away five years ago. Forever thirty one years old. The grief and the heartache is still there. I feel so guilty still being alive. He was my only son, I loved him so much.

I am so very sorry for the pain you are going through. I almost lost my 31 year old son this summer to liver and kidney failure (self-inflicted by alcohol abuse). It was a miracle that he survived. I love him so much. He is very musically talented, a classical pianist and a composer but troubled deep within. Please don't feel guilty about being alive. You need to be alive to be able to help others who are going through similar situations. I will pray that God will give you the strength you need. He knows the pain you are going through. He gave His only Son to die on a cross for our sins. He loves you very much. God bless you dear.

I thought nothing would compare with that score and then i saw Malena ,Once upon a time in the west, The mission and several others and each time the scores were unforgetable. I am so thankful to Maestro Morricone,he left this world a better place.

As an Italian, I am obviously proud of how much Ennio Morricone is esteemed, loved, around the world.
I grew up with Stones, Yardbirds, Animals, Who, etc.
But how can you not love the balance of Ennio Morricone's Harmonies?
But I do not claim any Italian exclusivity on Morricone's music.

In my opinion, no modern musician has ever captured deep emotions and humanities of life in film better than Maestro Morricone. There are great film composers, but Ennio Morricone was one of a kind. Often the films, as great as they may be, fell short on their impact on us when compared with the impact of the accompanying scores and melodies provided by this superb late composer, who will be ever present with us with the great music he left with us.

I would have to say he is the greatest composer of our generation. I have been watching a TV documentary here in England about this incredible man...What an education for me! This is probably my most favourite piece of music from Ennio?I know that is a difficult decision to come to as Ennio has composed and produced the most amazing portfolio of music compositions over the years!

Morricone is like Peter O'Toole never winning an Oscar. It is just insane to think neither of them have won an Oscar. Morricone is one of the greatest modern composers.
And his work can easily sit along side the likes of Samuel Barbers Adagio for Strings.

    • @JohanLebbing
      @JohanLebbing 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

bighands69 Morricone has been nominated for 5 Oscars. In 2007 he won an oscar for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music. Another 56 wins & 41 nominations.
But for me, he should have won oscars for many of the movies hè composed like this movie, and once upon a time in the west, The Untouchables, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, and many more.
It`s very unusual he only got one oscar, and not for a movie. Besides, he is a foreigner, and the oscar-committee ( A bunch of very old real american men.), is more fund of american composers, but....that`s the opinion of more soundtracklovers.

i NEVER watch a film more than once... but this one; 15 years later when poverty finally lifted sufficiently, i bought the dvd, and i've watched it four/five times now. beautiful in so many ways and that beauty is only enhanced, even created in parts, by the wonderful soundtrack.

Yes,the music by Ennio Morricone isso beautiful and helps me to watch the movie without judgement and feel incredible pain of human beings, not just the innocent boys and girls born in the Jewish ghettos of NYC and pulled into the life of a gangster and thug. This is the last movie from the director Sergio Leone who had an untimely death at the age of 60 right after making this one. All his movies , including Western like the clint Eastwood's Dollar trilogy and Once Upon a time in the West, the music in this movie hits me the most...

I love this film. I feel like I've seen it a hundred times. Perfectly directed by the master Sergio Leone, outstanding film music by godfather Ennio Morricone. Robert de Niro, James Woods, Jennifer Connely, Elisabeth Mc Govern, great cinema

I never tire of listening to this poignant piece of music by a masterly composer Ennio Morricone.

I'm nearing 50 now and I've watched this film at least 30 times since it was released.
At nearly 4 hours long that roughly equates to 5 days.
The sum of it all adds up to one of the best weeks I've spent in my life so far

I just purchased the 2 disc restored original cut released by his family. I am not a prude. The rape scene is horrible.

Jennifer Connelly was my first TV crush and is still is...when i saw her as young Deborah i was totally mesmerized. We are the same age. And morricone 's music added to the emotion...

Isn't it amazing that a human being can make something that can reach right into our souls. I remember channel surfing and stoping on PBS as some orchestra was playing the main theme to Once Upon a Time in the West. In just a few seconds I was crying like baby it was so beautiful. Nothing else can do that to me.

Ennio Morricone has managed to express in this song what is inexpressable in words, and this is why so many of us cry when we hear this. We are lucky to have lived at the same time that this wonderful and humble composer also lived, because even if his music is eternal, it is even more of a blessing to share the birth of such a lofty theme. Blessings to the Morricone family and to great Italy. What a loss.
