After virtually everyone saying the stock 2018+ intake is better than any aftermarket intake, I need to see a dyno pull before I can accept those hp claims.
STR8JKT blahblahblah the stock is definitely not “better “. I haven’t seen any legit reliable source say that except one youtuber. What it is, is very comparable with out a tune with the restrictor in on the 2018+. It will show some gains with out it but with out a tune very minimal.
The stock box is ok but you can definitely do better for sure. I like this one because of its direct "plug n play" capabilities. And it fits perfectly.
I switched stock to a Roush no tune cai knowing I won't see much gains. One thing I did notice off the bat was the better throttle response. Heat soaking sucks if the cars sitting, but once you're going out runs cooler then stock.
Alejandro Flores who was with VMP & now with Lund did dyno runs with stock S550 intake and compared it to after market CAI's. I've changed my S550 setup to drop in K&N, K&N Blackhawk CAI, Injen Evolution CAI and now with JLT CAI. The only noticeable gains I've seen is on the top end and felt loss of power on the low even with a 2018 IM on my 16 GT with a PBD tune. No disrespect to PBD but my tune from Bama on my old setup was better all around compared to my new setup which should've proceed better gains. I prefer my old setup with lower end to midrange power anyday over my new JLT+18IM setup! My 18IM+PBD Tune & installation ran me almost $1800CAD and went through 3 weeks of issues with the tunes causing rev hangs and high RPM idles which finally got resolved with Trevor from I think the Oklahoma location, not FL. The "only" time I can remember a good throttle response with no delay was with the stock air box and ever since I went after market now I'm always dealing with this slight pause and the cars f*cking shoots out like a rocket which isn't always a pleasant feeling with you're flooring it, I'm also using Pedal Commander too! Alejandro's test results will surprise you! th-cam.com/video/K6NrQGTvsGE/w-d-xo.html
I have installed this intake today and I really never expected such a huge difference to the OEM intake. First…not from the Sound. But… 1.) Fired the engine up and after 1 Minute idling it falls to a steady and low 600 rpm 2.) First meters; NORMAL MODE feels nearly like TRACK MODE on the throttle. 3.) In TRACK MODE the GT has an absolutely crisp and sharp throttle response that‘s awesome!!! And today it has 28 degrees Celcius of temperature here in Germany. So it is not a cheap part but I would recommend it really to all Mustang enthusiasts!
@@a.wheeler7731 ...well....it sounds good but not much better than the stock one with a K&N panel filter. BUT...you will feel a "boost" on about 2.200rpm that´s really nice and surprising. I will concern the improvement data from INJEN really plausible! If you want only sound - take a open filter with a rather bad gasket to the bonnet. If you want performance - take a CLOSED SYSTEM like the INJEN or similar!
26hp gain from an intake with no tune? I would like to see those numbers. Because I’ll bet they show “STD” numbers. And don’t show “STD” numbers prior. I’m sure it’s a great intake, but 26 hp over the stock with no tune. Nah. Not happening.
Stock looks boring but it is well engineered by ford to deliver enough cold air for the engine to burn fuel. A friend end up with some engine lights turning on few months after installing this injen intake, at times power delivery is kinda slow. To solve the problem he installed the oem intake and engine lights were fixed and power delivery is way better.
Title says 18-20, but Billy keeps saying 18-19. Is this an intake for 2020 GT 5.0, and does it truly not need tuning? 26hp? Awesome if its true. YOU ROCK BILL! Keep drivin the great vids brother!
So, I basically have to take off the engine cover, vacuum lines, and intake tube in order to clean the filter every 10,000 miles? Where do I get the filter monitor? I wonder how it would perform with the Velossa Tech Ram Scoop?
Yes it is a very well sealed setup so takes a little work to clean. www.cjponyparts.com/injen-filter-monitor-kit-incl-monitor-gauge-grommet-15-in-of-3mm-vacuum-line/p/INJAC1000/
In theory, the car will realize that there is colder, more dense air coming into the engine and add fuel accordingly. That SHOULD be the case even with the stock tune
The dyno sheet on CJ's product page had the car with base 371 WHP that's not a 2018 Mustang GT. They dyno at 410-420 whp baseline. Clearly they're not using the right car for their horsepower claim.
You have to read the numbers up on the left on the sheet - that´s 400hp stock and 412hp for the intake run! And the torque gain is even more impressive!
Installed many intakes over the years but never felt such an instant improvement. Highly recommend this for folks that don't want a tune.

Does the sound of the engine improve from the intake? I may consider it if it sounds good. I had an open CAI on my 2011 that sounded good.

So would you recommend this cold air intake?@@rolexr
@@xrmte ...yes I do ! Only Problem...it is not allowed here in Germany. So I removed it 4 weeks ago.
@rolexr got any dyno numbers on this?
I think with a custom tune it should gain a few hp?
No tune, and it looks clean. I like that fits perfect like it came from the factory there.
I absolutely love the design of that cold air box and tube. Fits like a glove. I will be buying this ASAP.!

That’s weird. If this is true where’s the live dyno result from CJ’s to show it.
Awesome! Good install video!

it's great but what does the Dyno say?
Great video Bill, any plans on doing the new 18-19 Airaid Intake?

I also heard the stock air box is better. I haven't changed mine.
I agree. I had this CAI on my car and noticed power difference’s after I went back to stock intake. As well as CAI temps also went down.
The take away is the air filter access for maintenance purposes. Will have to disassemble the tube hmmm!?
As usual good stuff Bill

18-20 all have the same setup
Great videos. What is your top choice for cold air intake on a 2020 GT?
Bill, why is your handling more rougher on the Focus than Mustang...? LOL. great vlog love the Injen swap.
Hey bill I installed my cai same as yours but it makes a hissing noise around the throttle body
The filter monitor for my intake wasn’t there. It was just a flush piece. Is there supposed to be a filter monitor ?
Looks nice Bill but how much HP/TQ does this add to the car?
You're buying noise for $350
100000
What bit did you use to take off the engine cover ?
I run this cai with e85 Lund and stainless power headers on my 19 wondering what size it is tho and if it actually is an improvement over stock

If it requires no tune it’s basically not doing anything more then the stock air box
Someone tell me I’m wrong
In theory, the car will realize that there is colder, more dense air coming into the engine and add fuel accordingly. That SHOULD be the case even with the stock tune
Vincent Mauron think about this
How is colder more dense air coming in ?
Both are plastic closed air boxes with a filter inside.
KINGKJ2REAL lol you have a point there
KINGKJ2REAL true, that’s why I said in theory. I’ve seen 20+ hp gains but only using a tune along with the CAI
Why didn’t he put it on the dyno after he installed it???
Clean install ....i likkie

Yeah every 18 I've seen has at least put down 400. I'm hopefully gonna have my stock 18 Gt dynoed at a Dyno day before I begin to mod it.

Is it only for the Gt or it can also be for the EcoBoost
Someone .hacks this is GT only, we have plenty of options for the Ecoboost
@@cjponyparts INJEN they make one for it EcoBoost Mustang
Can this be made to work with a 2017?
Is it CARB approved??
No it's not CARB approved according to their site.
26HP....I'm sure🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao no way 26 hp what a joke
What exhaust does this stang have?
Stock with a resonator delete.
Do you have to delete the sound tube?
You can keep it if you want to.
Bill knows this is bullshit, but he's being paid to say it. I would love to hear the off Camera conversation before filming. 😋
Yikes, 20+ hp from a CAI? No tune required? Dubious at best, since even the better CAIs are worth 5 to *maybe* 10 hp with a tune standalone.
What brand oil do you use
Mobil 1
Thank you

5w20, 5w30? Etc....
26hp added ??? Really???!!!! Hmmmm
